Great Sports Bras for Runners and Phone Suggestion

Hi guys!

How was your weekend? I have to apologize for not responding to many of the comments from the Friday Five, and if I missed reading your post this week, I'm sorry.  I had an extremely busy Friday and a mini phone disaster. I had to go to a press event for a new art gallery in the morning and while I was there I dropped my Blackberry and cracked the entire screen. After the press event I had to hurry to my Chiropractor appointment and then made my way to Verizon in which they could not help me because my husbands name was on the account, not mine. Scott has called Verizon several times to put me as an authorized user but I guess they still didn't fix that. So anyway, after a wasted trip to Verizon I realized that I had left my sunglasses at the art gallery so I had to travel back out there ( out of the way) again. I was very irritated at this point. All of these things were my own fault though.

I did have a pleasant surprise when I arrived home though.  I was chosen to receive the Victoria's Secret Vox Box courtesy of Influenster and it arrived on Friday.

I had been thinking about getting a good sports bra for marathon training so I picked one up last Tuesday when Scott took me shopping for my birthday. Later that afternoon, I check my email and found that I was going to be getting a Victoria's Secret sports bra as well. Score!

The main thing I look for in a sports bra is that it has closures either on the front or the back.  I just can't seem to do the bras that are all one piece ( you know what I mean right?).  I've tried a couple of those on and I feel as if I am going to dislocate my should getting them on and off. I can only imagine how much more difficult it would be when I'm all sweaty and trying to get it off.

With that being said, I am going to feature two of the best sports bras I have found.
The first one being this black sports bra by Jockey.
This is made from super soft material.
It has soft molded cups.
It looks just like a regular running tank in the front.
It has the hook and eye closure in the back ( This is important to me)
It has padded shoulder straps.
Not only can you wear the straps the traditional way but you can also wear them criss crossed as well.
This style is not sized by bra size, it is just small, medium, or large.
* I purchased this bra on my own.

This next bra is the one I was given in the Victoria's Secret Vox box from Influenster. I was given the Incredible VSX. I was pleasantly surprised when I pulled it out of the Vox box and I saw that it did indeed have a hook and eye closure on the back of it!  I wasn't crazy about the color at first, but it's grown on me and now I actually like it!

This is made out of that ultra breathable fabric and body wick technology.
It has the hook and eye closure that I love!
Even though it has the closures, it is still stretchable and form fitting to your body.
This bra has a concealed underwire for cushioning and support.  You might think that sounds uncomfortable but it really is not.
It also has padded straps and it is totally seamless so it wont irritate or chafe.
I'm really loving the racer back style of the back of it.
This style that I got was for maximum support and high impact.
The maximum support and high impact Victoria's Secret sports bras in this collection are sized by actual bra sizes. The medium support or mid impact ones are sized, small, medium, large.

In all honesty, if I would have received this bra first, I probably wouldn't have purchased the Jockey one. I did get a 25% off coupon in my Vox Box, so I will more than likely use this to get this same bra in a different color.
*I received the items in the Victoria's Secret Vox box free of charge to me  from Influenster for testing purposes.

I have worn both of these bras on a run ( under another tank) and they performed great. Straps stayed put, no chafing, and the rest of it stayed put. I've never worn just a sports bra by itself out for a run before. Do you think it would be okay to just wear these out by themselves?

So back to my phone problem. I currently have the new Blackberry ( came out last summer) and I LOVE IT. I do most of my blogging from my phone and it makes it so simple. I love the Blackberry format and the keyboard is a must. I don't do well with the touch screen keys. When I finally did get in contact with someone from Verizon, she informed me that Blackberry had got sold and I guess they wont be making any more phones ( I don't know).  I can still get the same Blackberry but she encouraged me not to.  The only thing I wish I could do on this phone is more photo editing. I want to be able to take a picture and then add text on top of that picture. Can any of you do that with your phone?  The only other phone I am considering is the LG Enact. Do any of you have that phone? I haven't seen it in person though, so I will have to check it out and see how large it is. It must be able to fit inside the pocket of my running skirt...haha.

Ok, guess this post was long enough! We will be back for Tasty Tuesday tomorrow if you'd like to link a post up.  We will also announce the Bondi band winner on tomorrows post.  Can you answer any of the questions I posted today?     ~M

This is a sponsored blog post. Influenster provided me with complimentary Victoria's Secret products to test and review as part of a contest.

  1. Ooh! I am always in the market for a better sports bra. I've toyed with the idea of a VSX for a while… maybe this is a sign that I should take the leap! :)

    1. I just saw online that they are having a sale on sports bras, 2 for $49.50. Don't know if this style is included though.

  2. I totally know what you mean about needing a closure on your bra. I have been stuck after a run and often wonder how people do it when they are in shared changing tents after Disney races! Haha. I didn't know VS had sports bras. I will have to go check them out. As far as text over photos, you could get an app to do it. I use pic collage some use pic monkey. There's lots. Good luck!

    1. Thanks for the suggestion for the apps. One of the bad things about Blackberry is the apps aren't as plentiful. I should try pic collage. I've tried just bringing up Pic Monkey on my phone and it doesn't work that great.

  3. I cannot help you with the phone problem, sorry! I also tried a new sports bra recently, the Energy Bra by Lululemon and I love it. The double straps in the back are really cute and it is very comfortable for running. The second time I wore it was for my half marathon on Saturday. By the way, did you get the b-day we sent? I hope it did not get lost in the mail.

  4. I had no idea VS made sports bras! I've used the app Marksta to put text over pics on my phone!

  5. I cannot help you with your phone....I have an I-Phone 4 and am quite happy with it. I also tried a new sports bra recently, the Energy Bra by Lululemon. I love it, not only is it comfortable, but super cute with double straps in the back (I always wear a tank over it). Hope you enjoyed your b-day shopping trip. By the way, did you get the card from us?

    1. I have never looked into Lululemon because I just "assumed" it would be very pricey. No, I didn't get anything yet, but thanks for thinking of me.

  6. That is great you loved that bra, I got an email from influencer that I would be getting one too and I had no idea what to expect, but if it's the same style as what you received I think I am going to enjoy testing it out!

As for your Blackberry question, I am sorry its broke. But I am glad I am not the only one who still uses one, I absolutely love mine and when people tell me that I am behind in times I could careless. I love my keyboard! I too use it for business and couldn't imagine not having it. The only downfall is not being able to use Instagram on it, but oh well... However, I have noticed the past several months it's been having problems and I think it's slowly dying, its 3 years old. I will use it until it won't work anymore.
But although I don't have a suggestion for you and a new phone. I am curious to what you decide. As if you find a new one you love, and you came from Blackberry then it would definitely be one that I'd be interested in. Hope you'll tell us what you decide and after you get using it, how it compares to your Blackberry!

    1. Glad to see you are a Blackberry lover as well! I can't wait to see what style of Sports bra you get. I've seen that many of us got different styles.

  7. Another great sports bra (esp for more "well endowed" ladies) is the Moving Comfort Juno. I love it!

As far as the phone, with Verizon, there's actually a paper that Scott has to sign to allow you to make changes to the account. When you all get a chance, you both need to go in and add the ability for you to make changes. We only know about this because when my FIL passed, my MIL wasn't able to make changes to their plan because they didn't have the paper signed. She had to wait until she had his death certificate. What a mess. Either way, I believe AT&T is the same way (for anyone who has AT&T). Good luck with the new phone choice!

    1. My sister buys moving comfort and loves it! Sor that your MIL had to go through all that. I bet that was a stressful enough time for her without the phone company making things difficult!

  8. I am so sorry for not only the broken phone, but the run around form verizon. Dang I HATE that. It seems like you get the run around from every company nowadays. So frustrating.

    1. What's really frustrating is that rarely get anything accomplished when I go to a Verizon store. Their employees really need better training!

  9. The only sports bras I wear are the cheap ones from Target but they work for me! Maybe one day I'll invest in some nice ones. The VSX ones sound really nice!

    1. I've never tried sports bras from there although I did buy an every day one from Target and I love it!

  10. I would never run in just a sports bra because my midsection is not something anyone wants to see, but I don't think there's anything "immodest" about these two that would keep you from running without a tank on top, if you wanted to.

I love my iPhone 5, and I use a (free, although I think there's a paid version) app called Moldiv that lets me edit pictures, add text, make collages, etc. I just made one two weeks ago for a friend of mine at her first triathlon, with pictures of her coming out of the pool, on her bike, and running across the finish line, with the name and date of the race on it.

Good luck finding a phone you love!

    1. I am doubtful I would be able to get that app on the Blackberry. They don't have very good apps!

  11. I have a Galaxy S4 and can do that. I just take the pic, open in it in Pixlr and then add text. Takes about 10 seconds total :) Love my phone, I was an iPhone girl before my S4 and can't imagine going back since it has a remote function too and controls my tv, dvd player, sound system, roku, etc. :)

  12. I was actually chosen for those bras as well... waiting for them to come in. I'll be interested since I'm a cheapskate on sports bras.

    1. Can't wait to see which kind you get. I've been seeing other gals got different styles. I am SO glad I got the one with the adjustable back since they all did not have them. I found my other sports bras at TJ Maxx. They are very affordable there.

  13. That VSX bra is really cute, and I think you could wear it on it's own if you'd like (I always have to wear a tank top or shirt, but that's because I have insecurities about my stomach haha). I'm quite jealous and in awe of the ladies that do so. I definitely need one that is high support/impact, so will look into this one. I have a few from New Balance and Nike that I really like. Sorry about your phone! I am unable to help with any of those questions—I have an iPhone.

    1. Thanks. I always wear a tank over top, but if you didn't know either of them were a sports bra, you would think they were just a running tank from the front.

  14. Great review, I was looking into the VS bras and they looked good but its always good to hear someone who has actually TRIED it! I have the Iphone 5s (work) and the Galaxy Note 2 (personal) and I can do the photo editing through an instagram app on both. I was a loyal BB user too but when they were sold, my company started phasing us off of them and onto the iphones. I have had my iphone for a month now and really like it, even though it pains my husband to hear that (he is NOT an Apple fan!)

  15. Ahh, why are phone companies always so difficult?! I love both those bras! I'm currently loving the nike pro right now. How did you score free Victoria's Secret gear???

  16. The last time I was in a Verizon store, there was another customer with the same problem! You'd think they'd make it easier for families to help each other!

  17. Love those sports bras! Just got the HTC M8 and I love it so far :)

  18. Both of these bras look super comfy. I am a fan of Jockey - their materials are always super soft! I haven't tried a V-secret bra in a loooong time. Honestly until recently I had no idea they had a line of workout wear. My current fave sports bra is by Adidas, and is stretchy, comfy, and very breathable (very important for me in the Houston heat/humidity)!

  19. Sorry to hear about your phone problems :( Phone problems are no fun, and we haven't had the best experiences with Verizon, either.

I have one Victoria's secret bra that I love... its an older model so not sure they would have it anymore. I also have one from Lucy that I adore, and I find the Oiselle bras work well for me too (smaller busted)!

  20. Blackberry has not been sold. They are actually coming out with a new qwerty phone this year: http://crackberry.com/blackberry-windermere-leaked-images-and-specs-turn-online . I still have a q10 and love it. Would not switch to another phone.
