Weekly Wrap ...July 29

Greetings, and welcome to the Weekly Wrap! Things have been a little interesting here since we got back from vacation.

The East Coast experienced monsoon like weather earlier this week, so that was fun waiting around in an airport to see if our flight was actually going to take off after many delays. About 7 hours LATER we were headed for home. Once we got home the weather did not stop. We had to prepare for flooding. I live up on a hill so I was not effected, but I helped my Pap prepare since he lives near the water. Thankfully his home did not flood this time. However, some of our running routes did, and our Island has been closed all week.  I've been walking around my neighborhood but no real runs for me this week.

Although we shared some photos on IG, we didn't do a recap of our trip so here is a quick highlight reel.

Horseback riding at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. You can check out our post about it HERE.

                                                                         Park Time

Disney's Beignet  Dash Fun Run. You can Read about that HERE.

We also did a Culinary Tour that I hope to talk about and we did a nice long Nature Hike.

Also Lacey registered for something exciting and started her training this week so maybe she'll share more about that soon as well.   Lots of fun stuff coming up. Stay tuned!

Thank you to Holly and Wendy for letting us share our week with them.

  1. Looks like a fun trip! It was crazy how much rain we got this week. I missed most of it too but there was some flooding around where I live.

  2. Looks like a fun trip! I love the photo of you two at the park. Glad you were not too affected by the weather - flooding can be so scary!

  3. You sure packed in a lot into a relatively short amount of time!

I spent some time pulling up some mushrooms from the backyard this morning (so the dogs don't eat them, even though they've never shown interest).

    1. We even did a little more than what I mentioned. We had some pool time (our hotel had a fabulous pool and lazy river) and did some shopping.

      Are they wild mushrooms?

  5. Our daughter, in Hanover, called us in a panic Wednesday evening...her townhouse's parking lot was filling up with water, the main road getting to her place was flooded, and they were evacuating some of the folks in her area. Fortunately, the water went down overnight, and she was able to get to work Thursday morning...and I think all the water has cleared by now. Scary!!! She said they had 10 inches of rain.

    1. Glad she was okay. I am happy that the water did go down quickly. That doesn't usually happen.

  7. Ooo a culinary tour? Those are always fun! I don't normally need dinner after it. Just a salad or something.

  8. Looks like a great time. Luckily we escaped all the bad weather last week. Weather-related flight delays have a way of cascading and getting worse and worse.

    1. I like to go during race weekends but we feel so rushed and don't like to do a lot of walking. Going in the summer gives us more time to do stuff.

I think all is well here. Thanks.

  11. I was in North Carolina a weekish ago when there was a monsoon of a storm; I wonder if it was the same system in your area. That was a lot of rain - glad you all (and your Pap) were safe.

  12. OMGoodness, 7 hours of delays would have put me over the edge. Maybe you were able to get out some angry-airline energy preparing for the flooding?? Glad everyone was safe!

  13. Yes the rain last week was just ridiculous! A 7 hour flight delay sounds horrible but I'm glad that you were finally able to leave and didn't have to spend an extra night at the airport.

  16. The raining weather was really out of control last week!! We had some flooding around Harrisburg and Hershey Park closed for a few days because of flooding.

I hope you had an amazing time at Disney!!

    1. I did see that Hershey park was closed. I was worried about the animals there as they didn't fare to well last time it flooded bad.

  17. I think I enjoyed following along with you two as much you enjoyed your trip! :) I think it is awesome that you two travel together. I may have to see if my sister wants to take a little 'girls trip' sometime!

  18. I love that you and your sister are so close and have so much in common, including having a joint blog! That's just awesome as it doesn't always work out that way!

  19. Looks like a fun trip! Hope all the flooding starts to clear up soon.

  20. It sounds like a fun trip! I was on the other side of Virginia where it was gorgeous all week. My phone kept blowing up with severe weather alerts for back home the entire time I was gone. Once home, I could tell based on the debris in our back yard that the creek had gotten up pretty high out of its banks.

Can't wait to see what Lacey signed up for!

  21. Great fun pictures and I loved reading about your nature hike, too. I like going up into one of the sets of hills that surround Birmingham, although I'm a bit nervous to run up there on the uneven surfaces. And I had a little bit of off-road work on Monday, more of that on my wrap next week!
