Currently

I have a Currently post for today's Friday Five.  This is all about what's currently going on with running and other aspects of life this summer.

Current Running Situation

Now that it is July, I've been pretty consistent with running.  I'm not currently signed up for anything so I don't feel the pressure that I HAVE to run. However, I WANT to run because I want to take advantage of the free time I have this summer. More importantly I want to keep a good base for any fall races that come up.

Current Races
Like I mentioned, I'm not currently registered for anything but there are a few local 5K's I might run in August and two in the fall I definitely want to run. I'm hoping to do a longer distance race with my sister this fall but because of her inconsistent schedule it will have to be something we sign up for last minute.

What I'm Currently Watching
I am in LOVE with the show Younger.  I am SO GLAD that I started watching it from season one. I wish it was an hour show and I wish it was on all year long. I just can't get enough!  It's been a great treat this summer! If you aren't watching it, it's on Tuesday's at 10 p.m. on TV Land. (You might want to binge watch the previous seasons).

Also, I started watching this show called Diet Land.  It just started this summer and I think they are on episode 6. It's got a kind of The Devil Wears Prada theme to it.  Actually, both Diet Land and Younger take place at a Publishing house, hmm, I see a theme here with the shows I'm loving.  Anyway Diet Land is on Monday nights on AMC.

What I'm Currently Reading
I've completed 5 books already this summer. I think I have a theme going on as all my book titles have something to do with vacation or summer. The last one I just read was called Beachcombers. It was about three sisters from Nantucket Island.

What I'm Currently Worried About
Baylee did something to her paw and it was bleeding for several hours. I'm not sure what she did, but I cleaned it up and put first aid cream and a bandage on it. The next day it seemed to be better but then last night we went swimming and she must have scraped it on the concrete out at the pool and it bled a lot more. I cleaned it up again and bandaged it. I'm surprised how good she is about keeping the bandage on. I hope this heals soon.

What I'm Currently Looking Forward to
Vacation!!! I didn't do any trips during the month of June so I'm looking forward to some vacations in July and August.  One of these trips requires me to be on an airplane. I know I always get so stressed out ahead of time about the plane and about leaving Baylee.  I guess I can't control the plane but at least I know Baylee is in good hands while I'm gone.

Have you been watching any of the shows I mentioned?  What are you currently worried about? -M

  1. I enjoyed reading about your current situation. My race schedule is pretty empty right now, too. I kind of burned myself out with a really full spring race schedule. I will have to start looking for this fall. Hope you have a great time on vacation!

  2. I haven't heard of those shows! There are just so many right now. We're currently watching Narcos--we just started the 3rd (and last) season. I just finished reading North by Scott Jurek, where he recaps his attempt to break the AT record. It's my blog book for this month and I'll be reviewing it next Friday.

    Have a great weekend!

    1. Yes!!!! You have to watch Younger. But you'll need to go back and watch the previous episodes because they are so good as well.

  4. I hope Baylee’s paw gets better soon. My dogs are terrible with bandages. They just chew them right off.

    1. It's actually on her back paw. If it was on her front paw she would probably be licking it like crazy!

  5. I am looking for some new shows to watch. Younger sounds interesting thanks for the suggestion. Hope Baylee is ok!

  6. I love Currently posts! I hope Baylee heals up soon. Are dogs like people, in that as we get older, it takes longer for our wounds to heal and it's easier to scrape them open? I am assuming Baylee will be with your parents while you're gone. You're so lucky you have them and you know beyond a doubt they will take good care of her!

    1. I'm glad you like the currently post as it was a last minute decision to write..haha.

I'm not sure if Baylee's healing has anything to do with her age, maybe it does. But I also think it might have something to do with the meds she Is on too. For example. I accidentally gave her a bad haircut/shave back in May and it still has not grown back yet. The vet said it will take s longer time to grow cus she is on thyroid meds.

  7. I just got on the Handmaid's Tale wagon. I read the book a while ago and made it through season 1 (mostly the book) and now am a few episodes into season 2. I'll have to check out Younger.

  8. I've been wondering about Dietland - for some reason, I thought it was a reality show. LOL. We just started the mini series Five Days. The first episode was really good.

    1. No not a reality show at all. I've never heard of 5 days. Is it a Netflix thing?

  9. I've heard about diet land, but we cut the cord a while ago so we only have regular network tv.

I hope Baylee's paw heals quickly! We are currently traveling so yes, I understand the concern about the furkids. Flying doesn't bother me, aside from the fact it's a hassle.

    1. I always think I could totally cut the cord with cable but then there is a handful of shows I would miss and of course I would miss all those sappy Hallmark movies around the holidays..haha

  10. I'm always worried about flying. Ever since my flight had turbulence a few years ago, I'm a wreck in the days leading up to the trip. Then I'm better once I'm on the plane, but turbulence scares me. Alaska is 4 weeks from tomorrow, and I just need to get to Anchorage.

    1. I worry about the flight itself but I also get stressed about packing. I like driving in a car so I can pack whatever I want!

  11. I have not seen any of those shows. I hope your dogs paw gets better, and the pre vacation anticipation is my favorite!

  12. Every week I say that about Younger! & with commercials, its basically like 15 minutes long. & then every season feels short too! I WANT MORE!!!!
Poor baby - did she hit her nail? They have blood lines that are major bleeders. We have that happen all the time with Bruno where he can't see & he gets his nails snagged in the AC vents :(

  13. Our dog scraped the skin off one of her pads and ended up with a fairly big wound there. We're not sure how she managed that since it was shortly after surgery when she wasn't allowed to walk much! I asked our vet to look at it since we were going in for post-surgery appointments anyway. He said to keep it clean and bandaged, so it sounds like you're doing all you can for Baylee's injury! It did take a couple weeks to fully heal though - it's hard since they will still walk on the injured paw.

  14. I hope Baylee's fully healed soon! That's great that she's good about the bandage.

  15. I don't watch much tv at all. I guess the latest was that we were watching Shameless on Netflix, but I got so annoyed at everything with that show. I try to catch The Voice now and then (when it's actually in season), but that's about it.

  16. I should look out for those shows - when I was much younger I dreamt of working in a publishing house!
