Where in the World Wednesday: The Phoenician Resort

This is a where in the world Wednesday post: Today our where is The Phoenician Luxury Resort in Scottsdale Arizona.

My husband and I got to spend a week at this fabulous resort. Although this is a very peaceful resort and a great place to relax, it is also an activity lover's paradise!
The Phoenician is settled right in front of the famous Camelback Mountain which attracts many hikers, runners, and walkers.

Allow me to show you our room.
In addition to our bedroom with TWO walk in closets ( I certainly didn't bring that many clothes), we had a full living room, a dinning room, an office, and TWO bathrooms.  I've never stayed in a hotel/resort room that had two bathrooms, so I thought this was pretty cool.  The evening we arrived, it was pretty late but we were pleased to find that the staff had left dinner for us on the dinning room table with a nice note. ( that is the picture you are seeing in the top right).  The service we received here was better than excellent!

Here is the view from our balcony. We spent plenty of time in the many cabanas by the pool.  Now I did say that this resort offers a plethora of activities, so spending time at the pool is not the only thing to do here!

One of the top attractions here is Camelback mountain. The profile of the mountain is suppose to look like a kneeling camel ( that's how it got its name).  I was never far enough away from the mountain ( it's pretty big) to get a full shot of it.  I was so excited when I found out that the resort was offering to take guests on a hike.  This was on our list of things to do.  Unfortunately the day before the hike my husband had a slight accident out at the pool that left him moving a little slower than what would be needed to hike the mountain!  Lets just say we blame those rubber shoes called crocs!

Activities that we did enjoy included the nature trail around the resort. This was really cool seeing all the desert critters that I wouldn't normally see on the East Coast.  Now that's not saying that I would take this trail alone. I'm glad my husband was with me because critters do scare me pretty easily.

Probably one of the best activities we did was golf!  I know it sounds boring and you are probably thinking that you can golf anywhere, but this golf course was the most beautiful course I have ever seen. Riding around in the golf cart itself was such a nice activity just because we really got to see the beauty of the resort that we may not have seen otherwise.
The scenery on the course was different at each hole too. As you can see in the pictures, some holes where high in the mountains. There were a few holes near water falls, which I didn't have a picture of.  This course was so great that my husband played on it more than once. I in turn took advantage of the spa.  This was the first time I ever had a massage at a real resort spa ( not counting those ones you get on the cruise ships).  They definitely pamper their guests here!

Other activities that were offered included dune buggy rides through the desert and hot air balloon rides.  We opted to take a visit to Sedona.
This is a mountain view as we were walking through town.

This is the view of Sedona from the overlook we stopped at.
This was the first time I've been to Arizona (as an adult). Even though it was April, it wasn't as warm as I was expecting. The weather stayed pretty cool during the day, and at night the air was very crisp.   We had dinners out on the patios of the Phoenician resort several nights and heaters were brought out because it got so chilly.
I hope you enjoyed this brief pictorial tour of the Phoenician Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona.  My pictures really don't do it justice. I admit that I didn't know I would be blogging about this at the time of my visit. To see how fabulous this resort really is, click on the resort link above.
Have you ever been to Arizona?  If so, what did you do?  What did you think of the weather?

  1. My sister lived in Phoenix for a long time in a condo adjacent to Camelback Mountain. We visited several times and thought the area was beautiful. I must admit that our one visit during the summer was rather difficult with the very high temperatures.

    1. Your sister must have had a wonderful view! I've heard the summers aren't as bad in Arizona because there is little to no humidity. But I guess when it's hot, it's HOT! Thanks for reading!
