February Wrap up

It's time for our monthly wrap up.

In February, I've been really consistent in going to my fitness classes.

I've gotten into a groove and have a great group of people at class. Although we sometimes run "laps" during class, I haven't got back into my running groove yet.

Last month I was real consistent in getting in those 10,000 steps each day by walking and jogging on the treadmill but on February 14, I ended up breaking my stride.  I told myself  that it was okay that I didn't get in 10,000 steps because I needed a rest day. I called it my "Valentine's gift" to myself...lol  But then that slowly became a slippery slope because there were one or two (or three) days in the following weeks that I didn't reach the goal either.

I have a feeling that as the weather warms up ( it's suppose to be in the 70's this week), I'll be getting more miles in. I ended the month with 119 miles.

In other news, I am happy to say that we've booked a "new to us" resort for our next Disney trip.  You may know from previous posts that we have a goal to stay at all of them at least once ( but we keep going back to our favorites), so it's bee a long process but we are 3/4 of the way there! I'm super excited because this resort has some really great walking and jogging trails. I'm really hoping they bring the resort races back.

I am really hoping that by the time we go back to Disney that I will have my taste and smell back. It's been several months now since I lost my sense of taste.  I can tell if something is spicy or sweet but not really any flavor. I'd say it "stinks" not being able to taste, but I really can't smell either! I've been sniffing the essential oils like I'm suppose to. I can smell Tea Tree oil but not Eucalyptus. Not having a sense of smell has really become a safety issue! Not having these senses was upsetting for a while, but now it has been so long that I've been without them that I probably wouldn't even notice if I got them back.

Also this month I had Sybie's dermatology appointment near Philadelphia.  Because of some schedule conflicts, I had to take her myself this time. The drive is not so bad but it's just so far out of the way and it is such an expense! They really didn't tell me anything I didn't already know, but she had to have the appointment so they could refill her immunotherapy meds.

In bigger news, Sybie won a photo contest sponsored by Pet Smart!  I was actually notified back in January but it wasn't until February that I received the "prize".  She won free dog food for an entire year.  I guess all her  dress up pictures really "pay off"...lol

Also this month. I enjoyed having some days off work due to weather and President's day weekend.  I finally caught up on the series of  Younger on Paramount Plus. I forgot how much I really loved that show.   We enjoyed watching Amazing Race and we're so pleased with the outcome! I also caught up on some Disney Plus. I finally saw Raya and the last Dragon, and Mary Poppins Returns, both which I enjoyed.  We watched Encanto, which I thought was just okay and don't know why everyone is hooked on the Bruno song?  I also saw Coco which I enjoyed much more than I thought I would. For an animated movie, it was very heartfelt. I now understand what "Day of the Dead" is.

And that's a wrap for February!  Like everyone, we are looking forward to Spring! -M

Is there a series similar to Younger that you think I might like?  What have you been watching lately?

We are joining the weekly run down with Deborah and Kim

  1. Congrats to Sybie! What a fun contest to win! I hope your sense come back soon. That has to be so disturbing to not be able to taste and smell. Have fun on your next Disney trip!

  2. I hope that your taste & smell come back soon! I guarantee that you will notice that.

Winning a year of dog food will help to offset some of that expense!

My base for steps is actually 8000. Some days I don't make it (rare) and some days I'm way more than double it. I think it's the consistency that really matters, and there's nothing wrong with a day off.

    1. I agree, there were days when I didn't hit 10,000 but then there were others were I went way over, so it all equals out eventually!

  3. Shoot, I missed the Amazing Race! That was the one and only reality show I watched (back in the day when reality shows were a new thing, LOL). Such cute doggie pics ;-) Congrats to Sybie ;-)

  4. Free dog food for a year? That's amazing!
So did you have Covid? Many years ago I had a sinus infection and couldn't smell or taste for a while, and I agree it can be a safety issue- you really should be aware if something smells really bad in your house! I hope you get it back soon- life is much better when you can taste your food.

  6. Oh, I must have missed that you had Covid and lost your sense of smell and taste. That's a long time to be without it, goodness! I hope it returns soon.

Congrats to Sybie- free dog food for a year! That's incredible. What a cutie.

Our younger vizsla Ruth has to go to a dermatologist for an issue - definitely out of the way and expensive, and its hard to tell yet if its working. But they're worth it. We love them :) Right?

  7. I would hate to lose my sense of smell and taste! My husband is a homebrewer and he always trusts me to sniff his beers. And like you said, it's a safety issue too! I hope yours comes back soon.

I love that Sybie won the costume contest! Free food for a year is nothing to sniff at (pun intended)! It's expensive to feed these pups. Cocoa would never cooperate. She hates getting her picture taken.

  8. Great month! I also love Coco, its one of my favorite Disney movies. I found Encanto okay as well, but I do get the Bruno song in my head all the time!

  10. Wow on winning the contest — but that is a super cute photo. A year’s supply of dog food is a great prize! How fun to have a Disney vacation planned. I hope you like the “new” resort.

We stopped Disney+ so we haven’t seen Encanto but we did so Coco somehow. I like it.

  11. What an awesome gift for Sybie (and for you too! That's going to save a whole lot on dog food!)
Sorry to hear your smell and taste haven't fully returned! Arrggh. Really hope it returns soon xx
