Fall Hodgepodge

I don't know about you, but I really don't follow the calendar when it comes to seasons.  I understand the whole winter/spring/summer/fall solstice but in my mind Summer starts on Memorial day and it ends on Labor Day!

However, we still experience Summer like temps into September which is nice. It's hard to want to decorate with mums and hay bales and eat pumpkin spice everything when it is still 80 degrees out, but hey we'll take it!

We've already been #EnjoyingFall by going to Dog Days in the Maze and the Harvest Festival race and festivities, and that was even before fall officially started. So now I guess we have exactly 90 days (according to the calendar) to fit in as much fall fun as we can.

So what's on tap for fall?

The biggest thing on my calendar so far is the Baltimore Marathon with some lovely runner/blogger friends!

I'm also thinking about running a Monster Dash Halloween race. It seems to be a big deal in a neighboring town and might be fun to come up with a costumer to run in.

If I still feel like running in November, I'd like to finally do a Turkey Trot. The same organization that does the 4th of July race does a Turkey Trot. It's a big race but I need to find out if that killer hill is a part of it.  That may be a deal breaker.

I'm planning a Pumpkin Party! More details on this later but I already have my pumpkin popcorn!

Not that this is exactly an event, but as soon as the weather cools off, we plan to take Baylee out to the trail in her cart I bought her last year for her birthday. Remember that?  I've been wanting to take her out but it has just been too hot for her and her little heart.  So, yes, I'm looking forward to that.

So those are 5 little things I think will be fun to do this fall.  Please remember to join us by using the #EnjoyFall hashtag on IG.   -M

  1. It's supposed to be 95 today, so fall is still not on my mind! I am enjoying the warm temps tho!

  2. I would love to #enjoyfall with y'all but as Wendy says 90s on the thermometer are taking away my good cheer. And no I'm not crying - it's just sweat!

  3. Oh my, pushing Baylee will definitely be a workout! She seems to be doing well. And a marathon is a pretty big deal!

The Turkey Trot I do does have some killer hills, but it's free and low pressure. If the weather's miserable, no reason to do it. If it's not, it's fun! And takes the edge off of hosting Thanksgiving.

    1. The cart is actually for the bike but there is a handle I can purchase if I want to push her. That would definitely be a challenge!

  4. Baylee is ready to go!!!! She is so sweet. I'm looking forward to Baltimore too! I'm with you, I'm a little hesitant to put out my fall wreath since the weather still feels summery!

  6. Ahhh, the fall season. It's fun with all the racing opportunities, and I love all the color. I just hope the moderate (cooler) temps don't segway into winter any sooner than necessary...

  11. OMG, I want one of those carts for my dog! How does Baylee like it? I'm worried that Miles might try to keep jumping out, lol.

    1. There would be no way for him to jump out because all the sides and the top zip shut. You can Unzip the windows or top or even front if you are positive your dog will stay in..lol. Baylee pants a lot which is just a side effect of her condition so I don't always know if she is nervous or not. We haven't really been able to take her on long rides yet, just around the neighborhood to "test" it out.

  12. I've been looking at the calendar for some 5k's that could help with my longer runs. I have 5 miles to run in two weeks, and a couple after that is 6 miles. If I could find a fun fall theme, that would help.

    1. That would be fun! There are so many 5Ks around here at this time.

  13. Sounds like you have a fun fall ahead of you! Even though the calendar says it's officially fall, it's still summer here! :D

  14. Ahhh - Does Baylee love that cart? Harvey Dent would FREAK OUT being in it.

  16. Making a costume is my favorite part. I don't know what I would dress as though this year. I ran as a ghost during the Wicked 10K a few years back!

  17. It is still 90 here, but I am SOOO READY for fall.

  18. You have some fun fall activities planned! I agree... it's hard to think of fall when it is still 90+ outside.

  19. I am ready for fall. But then again I am not ready because it means winter is right after it.
