Weekly Wrap....June 12

It's been another glorious week here. I am officially on summer break and lots of exciting stuff has been happening so far!

Lets see, this past week we were suppose to have our new swimming pool liner installed. Turns out they couldn't do it till Friday! This is important to note later.

Also Friday, I drove back up to school to participate in the graduation ceremony. Every year our Seniors try to do something funny during graduation and this year they had pizzas delivered during the ceremony. Yup, they all ate pizzas in their caps and gowns!  Apparently they thought it was funny that Ellen had pizzas delivered during the Oscars so they wanted to imitate that. It was cute.

Saturday morning I was up bright and early for the Relay For Life 5k. I loved the whole Relay for Life atmosphere and I'm glad I got to participate. There is another Relay for Life 5K coming up this weekend on the other side of town and I'm sad I won't be around for it.

It was really hot during the race and all I wanted to do was come home and relax in an air conditioned house while siting in my calf massager!  That DID NOT happen.  We spent the rest of the morning and afternoon working on our pool. Getting a new liner installed was like have a brand new pool installed all over again. We had to remove our fence, have a tanker truck come in and dump water in it, fix the gaskets, and so much pool maintenance.  There were about a half dozen trips to the hardware store, and a few times where we had to jump in the freezing water to adjust stuff in the pool. So glad that is taken care of now and I take pleasure in knowing that we hopefully won't have to do this stuff again for MANY years.  I imagine Baylee will be swimming by this afternoon.

What I'm looking forward to this coming week: CLEANING! Is it odd that I am looking forward to cleaning my house?  I'm also looking forward to some beach time, hanging out with my sister,  and then after that I'll be heading on vacation.  Oh, I wanted to also share that I was selected to be a Walgreen's Ambassador for a very important issue. I'm sharing a story on the blog tomorrow that I have never shared before and I hope you will stop by and read  -M

Thanks to HoHo Runs and MissSippiPiddlin for hosting the Weekly Wrap.

  2. It's still difficult for me to keep working some summer days. I wish we could get summers off. It's so gross out most of the time, I don't want to do much. Being able to enjoy the pool would be nice.

    1. I bet things slow down a bit for you during the summer, no? That has to be nice!

  4. Yay for summer to begin for you! Ha that really is a cute idea the seniors did for graduation, I don't think our school would let that happen and it's a shame but one thing they couldn't stop was a streaker a few years ago! Yes ma'am someone ran across the field during the ceremony buck naked as the day they came into this world!
I know people who have pools but I always thought they used a water hose to fill it. The tanker truck would be much easier! Thanks for your support Meranda!

    1. Our Principal always knows what's going to happen ahead of time. Wow, I can't imagine someone streaking at graduation!

  5. How cute that the students had pizza in their gowns! I love that!

I have work Monday and then it's summer for me! I'm looking forward to having a life again...and yes, cleaning. My house is a disaster zone. The last couple weeks have been too packed and busy to do much more than essentials - laundry and dishes!

    1. Laundry definitely seems to be something that I keep putting off but then when I do it I do like ten loads in a row!

  6. I never look forward to cleaning my house. In fact, I hate having to do the prep work before my cleaning lady comes! I'm so spoiled.

    1. I actually enjoy it! I do things like clean my closet out and get rid of things. I would never want a cleaning lady to do that for me!

  7. I enjoyed your story! Glad pool is ready and Bailey enjoyed the swim! I am excited for summer and reading books by the pool and beach this year since I am moving back to Wilimgton in a few weeks!

  8. That is a hilarious graduation story! What a great idea haha!! I'm glad your pool is ready and you can relax in it the rest of the summer! I actually enjoy cleaning my house and look forward to it as well. I'm a little (or maybe a lot) OCD, so that may be why. :) I get really excited to organize my closet. LOL I'm a nerd!

  9. We have never owned a pool and all that work is one reason why! I'm sure it's nice to enjoy once that work is done, though. Can't wait to hear your news!

    1. You are right, it is actually a lot of work and if we didn't have the Labrador I doubt we would care to have a pool.

  10. Hooray for summer break! We had a new liner put in this year too. But they did everything for us and it was refilled with a garden hose. Funny you mention the tanker, I thought when we put it in years ago they would bring in a truck of water -- but no, I was shocked to find out they filled it with hoses. (It actually doesn't take as long as you'd think.) Odd how it's done different ways. Anyway, the main thing is to enjoy it all summer long! Thanks for linking with us Meranda!

    1. The tankers are very expensive so we only had them fill it half way and then we did fill it the rest of the way with our hose.

  12. OMG I can imagine what you had to do for the liner. But remove your fence ? Crazy ! Pizza during graduation ? LOL.
Have a great week and enjoy your upcoming vacation.

  13. Yay for sschool being out! We had a liner pool once when we lived in Virginia Beach, but the pool company did all the work. It sounds like you had to do lots and getting into that freezing water would have been tough, even on a warm day.

    1. When we first built the pool we were going to go with fiberglass instead of a liner because we knew the dogs would be swimming in it. In the end we heard stories of the fiberglass cracking so we decided to stay away from that.

  14. That stinks that your pool maintenance ended up being so much work! It sounds like things are in order now! I love the pizza idea at graduation. I really do love summer break, even though it's not much of a break for me these days! And congratulations on being selected as a Walgreens Ambassador!

  15. Enjoy summer break! I will surely enjoy having a pool at my complex - there for me to use but I don't have to take care of it! I also enjoy cleaning my house...but with some music in my headphones and a drink or two. Might as well dance around if you have to mop/swiffer!

  16. That sounds like a lot of work for the pool but hopefully you'll get a lot of enjoyment out of it now that it's done :) Have fun at the beach and on vacation!

  17. I definitely look forward to cleaning! I get really irritated when I don't have time to thoroughly clean and organize, so I love having time to do that. Enjoy! And enjoy your pool too!
