Is Everyone Okay?

Hey guys! Sorry for the late post today but we had a storm come through yesterday evening and we were without power all night ( and an Internet connection).
I'm assuming the storm was part of hurricane Arthur, but it really came on fast! I know some people may have more damage then us, but it was pretty scary in our neighborhood. We had shutters that flew off of our house and one of them hit Scott's  new truck. I felt so bad for him because he hasn't even had the truck for 6 days and already it is damaged:(

I'd been really good about my Goofy training so far. Monday I was up and out on the trail by 6:15 am. (it was 6:12 am to be exact)! I NEVER have been up to run that early ( unless it was an organized race). I did the recommended 4 miles and all was good. Yesterday was a rest day and I needed it because my leg muscles were still sore/tight. Not because of the run the day before, but just because they have been for a while now.

Today was suppose to be another 4 miles. I had a hard time getting out of bed this morning. My Labrador Baylee jumped up and stuck her head on the pillow with me. ( Yes, you can judge me now or judge me later, I DO let my dog on the bed). Maybe she was still frightened from the storm.  A little after 7 am, I got myself ready to go do that run. I was anxious to see what my trail looked like after the storm.
This is what I found......

Fortunately I was able to run around most of the debris. There were trees uprooted and blocking other trails as well, but I don't normally run on those trails anyway, so it didn't effect my run today.

After a few laps I started to get tired of running around the trees so one time I just hopped through them.

 Yikes! Doesn't this look dangerous?

When I was approaching mile 3 I noticed my Garmin had stopped. I was so mad! With all the dodging of tree limbs and debris I knew my pace was suffering anyway, but I still like to know what I did. Fortunately I already have this trail mapped out as to how far each loop is, so I just continued until I knew I finished 4 miles.

Has a summer storm rolled through your neck of the woods yet?
Do you let you dog on your bed?

That's it for today folks ~M

  2. Wow, that damage looks bad :( We had a pretty bad storm roll through last night but it moved through quickly and we didn't have to deal with it for long. We had a lot of damage from the storm last Thursday night. We used to let the cats into the bedroom and on the bed but then I found out I'm allergic to them :( The bedroom has been a no cat zone since then but I miss them.

    1. Thanks Heather! I couldn't believe how many trees were down. I bet the park rangers will be down there working for quite a while cleaning things up.

  4. I let my cat sleep on the bed with me... well, she hops up and I don't close the bedroom door. She'll sleep right up against me until she's ready to prowl the apartment while I'm sleeping.

  5. That storm damage looks all too familiar to a girl that lives on the Gulf Coast and has been through many hurricanes. So glad you are ok!

  6. Bummer about the truck. It's so hard to keep new cars nice! At least nobody was hurt.

  7. I hope that insurance covers the damage to your hubby's truck! I'm glad that you are both safe, though! We have had lots of thunderstorms here in Florida, but Hurricane Arthur was NOTHING here, and it formed directly off my town. Weather is weird.

  8. Oh my gosh, that is scary! I am glad you all are ok!

And my dogs totally sleep in my bed too... no judgement here!

  9. So scary when storms hold such an impact. I've been seeing it on the news.
    Glad everyone is OK.

  10. Wow, that is really scary, I am glad you are okay!! I hope that Scott's car gets fixed soon too, being a brand new car owner I would have freaked out if that happened to my car, but thankfully everyone is safe! You can always repair a car, you know?

  11. I've been hearing on the news about all the storms across the county, glad your okay! I think we are supposed to get a little rain and wind today, but nothing like what you guys have!
Really sorry about the truck, hopefully the insurance will pay for it all to be fixed and it will be brand new again:)

  12. Wow, that's some serious damage to those trees! Happy you're okay :) Sorry your Garmin stopped, that stinks. I'm tracking all my runs again now that Dopey training has started. Do you use a running app along with using your Garmin? I use Nike+ and like it a lot. If you use it, add me (DeniseL321) :)

  13. Wow! Glad you're ok! Tropical systems are pretty scary. In Florida we get some intense thunderstorms most afternoons in the summer and we've had two so far this year that have been so intense (microbursts) that we've had a lot of huge limbs knocked off our trees. Great job on your training and stay safe!

  14. Yikes! That is a lot of damage! I am sorry about Scott's truck, that sucks. :( The storm rolled through here VERY fast but all we got is some strong winds and a torrential downpour. The lights flickered a few times. We were more than safe in our home but I would NOT have wanted to be outside in that. Glad you're all okay!

  17. Scary! Glad are OK but that sucks about the truck! The weather is very boring in LA. It's just about the same day in and day out. I miss midwest thunderstorms…but not the humidity and mosquitoes. :)

  18. I apparently slept through the storm that came through here last night - there were branches all over the road on the way to work.

The dog isn't allowed on the bed, partially because he would take up the whole thing.

  19. Oh my! I'm glad you're ok! Was this the storm that was approaching when I was talking to you on the phone? I hope Baylee is less scared now!

  20. A storm and tornado ripped through the area on Tuesday night here and we were also without power until yesterday morning. The damage is pretty significant in some areas and unfortunately there were a few deaths in a neighboring county but for the most part everyone is okay. It was quite nasty here!

  21. We've had 2 similar storms near DC in the past week. We were out of power for about 5 hours. Welcome to summer in DC!

  22. Storms like that are scary! We had one recently that cause quite a bit of damage to trees in the area and a lot of people lost power. I hope yours is back on by now!

Our dogs come up on the bed as well, though if it's bed time, only the smaller one (read 110 pounds) is allowed to stay there. She usually prefers to sleep on the couch or her dog bed, any way, where we don't 'bother' her ;) I feel bad for our big girl, but her 170 pounds just won't squeeze in with the rest of us! Haha.
