A great way to start
off any race weekend is a stop at the Health and Fitness expo! The Rock n Roll Race expo was held at the
Virginia Beach Convention Center. This
race was sponsored by Brooks and they really did a great job with the expo. It
was one of the most fun and interactive expos we’ve been to.
We started by picking
up our race credentials.
Various prizes included
T-shirts, hats, key chains, visors, and even some Brooks running shoes! Unfortunately neither of us won a pair of
shoes, but here are the fun prizes we did win!
( Although a bit goofy, that visor did come in handy at the beach the
next day)
This is the market
where you won your prizes.
Participants got to “ride”
the Brooks shoe ( which was similar to riding the mechanical bull). That thing
was pretty wicked but I stayed on!
This next activity was
really fun. You raced against others by running on this mat. The faster you
ran, the more the little guy moved up the mountain. The first person to get
their guy to the top of the mountain won a prize. I ran against my mom and sister! ( This is obviously not us in the picture!)
We then spent time at
the various vendors here. We visited some old favorites and also found some new
favorites! I talked to the rep for The Stick and he showed me some new
techniques to use. I also saw my picture at the Big Sur booth as they played a
slide show of this year’s race!
We were sad to see that
the RunDisney booth was not here this year. That booth is always a favorite! One
year ago on this day, at this expo, is where I signed up for my first Disney Marathon!
What booth do you most
look forward to seeing at a race expo?
We will be looking
forward to hearing your reply because one of the vendors that were at this expo
will be doing a give away on our blog tomorrow!
I've never been to a race expo they seem like a lot of fun though!
ReplyDeleteThat expo looks like a lot of fun! How does it compare to the runDisney expos?
ReplyDeleteI would say that it was more "interactive" than the Disney expos and definitely more room to move around and look at things. We went on the first day of the expo so even though there were still plenty of people there, it wasn't as crowded as Disney expos usually are.
DeleteThat looks like a blast!!!!!! PHM will be my first expo...I'm a bit scared with the GSC and how crowded it will probably be!
ReplyDeleteLove how interactive Brooks was! I haven't been to an expo like that before. The shirt you won is cute :)
ReplyDeleteAll of the expos that I have been to have been WAY boring compared to this one!! I look forward to seeing the apparel booths - sometimes I get a new skirt or shirt as a reward for finishing the race :).
ReplyDeleteI loved this race expo last year and we got so much free stuff. The big game last year was beat the PF Chang dragon during the race. (we did). I think we had nearly $50 worth of PR Chang gift cards and coupons by the time we were done!
ReplyDeleteI did not see the PF Chang Dragon this year but we did get $10 gift cards to PF Changs in our swag bags!
DeleteI hope the Savannah RNR Expo is like this! I'm looking forward to going and I am hoping the RunDisney booth will be at that one. It is on the list of Vendors, but they may not show :(
ReplyDeleteRun Disney was not on the list of vendors for this particular expo. We thought maybe because it was the same weekend as the Disneyland half marathon in California, but you would think that they would have more than one race rep! Another thought was that maybe they did not come because all the Disney races are sold out so far anyway. I don't know but they were missed! I hope you get to see them in Savannah!
DeleteI LOVE race expos! I am running my first RNR HM in 10 days, Philadelphia!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for the expo :)

Good luck at RnR Philly! I hope that race expo is just as fun!
DeleteI miss the Brooks booths at the Rock-n-Roll races. Can't wait to see what they have in store for Philly next weekend!
