Guess what? I signed my mom up for the Tri as well, so she agreed and our training commenced on Tuesday on the trail.
During the ride I noticed she had a nifty little pouch on her bike. Afterwards I mentioned that I should get one of those. She proceeded to show me what was inside her pouch.
This was so silly that I thought I just had to share this for a quick Friday post!
Item 1, hand sanitizer. Well that is fairly normal. No real surprise there.
Item 2, a magnifying glass. Here is where I started laughing. Why on earth would anyone need a magnifying glass on a bike. Are they solving mysteries on the ride? Actually , solving mysteries on a ride might be fun.
Item 3, a coupon for a Red Box Movie Rental. You see, my mom and dad (before his shoulder surgery) ride their bikes often and one of their routes goes by a Red Box. They keep the coupon handy for the next time they ride by. Now I understand why the magnifying glass is important (to read the code on the coupon).
And see, I thought when people carried a pouch on their bike they were carrying tools in it. I think she ought to put some safety things in there.
What would be in your bike pouch? -M
Ha! Did she say what the magnifying glass is for?
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure it was to read the code on the coupon!
DeleteYour mom is very cute! Put a spare inner tube, some tools an energy bar and some gum in there!
ReplyDeleteI's sure she wouldn't know what to do with a spare inner tube!
DeleteI have a pouch under the seat on my bike--there's a spare inner tube in there and some tools for changing a tire. Funny thing is, I don't know how to change a tire. LOL. I guess I am hoping for another biker to take mercy on me...
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't know how to change a tire wither. Guess that's something I should learn if I plan on being on a bike!
DeleteAs someone who needs "cheaters" (glasses) to read the fine print on things I can so appreciate the magnifying glass :)
ReplyDeleteYes, I guess it comes in handy!
DeleteThat's nice that you'll be training together!
ReplyDeleteI don't bike, but I'm willing to bet you if I did that there would be food in there. :)
Carrying snacks is always a good idea!
Deleteha ha ha...I would definitely need a magnifying glass or a spare of cheaters in my pouch (if I had such pouch). I have tried posting pics while out and about, and have had a few nasty auto-correct fails due to my need for reading glasses now days LOL
ReplyDeleteOh no!....lol
DeleteThat is so funny! I think my parents would need a magnifying glass to read that coupon too! Yes, get your momma some pepper spray!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I would put TP in my pouch for sure. :)
DeleteThere are several restrooms along our bike route but PT is always a good idea cus you just never know!
DeleteI have 2 pouches on my tri bike. One holds a spare tire lube and changing tools. The other has tissues, hand wipes and and usually my phone, keys and a snack bar for longer rides
ReplyDeleteI think we really need to get some tools (and learn how to use them)!
DeleteOMG I love your mom! She's so prepared for the important things in life!! If I was training for a tri, I'd have candy in my bike bag, because I'd need a lot of bribing to be training for a tri in the first place, LOL.
ReplyDeleteWe are definitely more leisure riders. Riding into town to get a red box movie is more our speed..lol
DeleteYour mom is too cute! I would keep snacks, my phone and lip balm in my pouch. Maybe some tissues or wipes too :)
ReplyDeleteAll reasonable stuff for sure!
DeleteI'd probably have what I keep in my running belt pouch. My phone, keys, sunscreen, and lip balm. I carry tissues during allergy season.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure she had her keys in there as well.
DeleteYour mum is too cool! Magnifying glass had me laughing out loud! But maybe it's for inspecting interesting flora and fauna on nature trails? Hehe.
ReplyDeleteYea, me too. Who ever heard of carrying a magnifying class around?
DeleteMoms are so odd. haha
ReplyDeleteThey prepare for the oddest things!
DeleteThat is hysterical! Too funny!!!
ReplyDeleteRight!
DeleteHa! I have a pouch that goes under the seat, it has tools/tube, etc. Although I also don't exactly know how to change a tube - hopefully if I got a flat there'd be cell coverage to look it up on youtube!
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to get back into biking this summer, and thinking of getting a pouch that goes on the front or on the tube (between the seat and handlebars) for easily storing my phone, keys, etc.
Does the tube come with the tool kit? Seems like everyone who has one would not know how to use it...lol
DeleteIt's awesome that you and your mom are training together for a tri! Love it. I would get a pouch and put some random things in it, then show them to your mom and let her try to figure it out! :)
