I See the Most Peculiar Things!

I have had some interesting runs this week. Well not so much my runs but what I saw during my runs.

1. I was running on a trail that is pretty much in the open. It circles around a baseball field. There are a few trees near by but I definitely would not call it a wooded area.

I was listening to my podcast when all of a sudden I hear scampering behind me. I turned around and I saw a baby fawn.

This thing was so small (smaller than Baylee even) that I almost tripped over it. I didn't even realize it was a deer right away since it was so tiny. It looked at me and I looked at it and I could tell he was thinking I'm lost and ran away. I tried to take a picture of it but that little thing was so fast. You can kind of see it in the distance. I was hoping I wasn't going to see a huge buck afterwards. Luckily I didn't!

I just find it so odd that it was in the middle of the day, not even near woods, and how small it was.

2. The next day I was running a route which is no where near a farm or out in the country when I saw this in the front yard of a house.

Another strange thing. Is this someone's pet or what?

3.The following day I was running over an overpass above a highway to get to my local running trail when I saw this.

It was near an on ramp that merged onto the highway. Did someone just decide "yep, don't need this anymore, I'll just toss it out my window?"  I would think something like this was pretty important to someone. Or not.

4. The next thing is not really odd but it was a tiger cat.

I don't know why but in our family we call this a Millie cat. My mom is secretly at cat person and said she wanted to get one like this and name it Millie. As I continue to run by it just laid there and watched me. Usually they are so skittish and run right away. But this one was not afraid.

What are some odd animals or things you have seen along your runs? -L

    1. Have you ever saw a baby one? I swear this one was only as big as a cocker spaniel.

  2. I always see odd stuff on the run. Sometimes I stop and take pictures. Maybe you and I are just more observant?

    1. I usually don't take my phone on runs, so I just found it odd for me to see all these things on the days I did.

  3. Aww the fawn is cute! Hope it's ok. My daughter wanted a pig like that in the worst way. Um nope!

    1. I'm sure that little thing was cute when it was a baby, but not so much now that it is grown.

  4. Its amazing what you'll see out on the open road or trail. The pig is adorable but definitely an odd sight to see.

  5. You DO find interesting things to look at on your runs! Mt sister-in-law would love to have a pot-bellied pig for a pet. Pigs are her "thing". There is one at a petting zoo near here that my grandsons have nicknamed "Chris P. Bacon"! :)

  6. I'm guessing the pig is a pet. They supposedly make really good pets! Mr. Judy had a manager once who had a few.

I do see deer occasionally on the run. Of course there was the black swan I saw in the neighborhood, the mating chipmunks, rabbits everywhere, and I see single shoes (and sometimes socks) all the time & always wonder what the heck happened there? Maybe I don't want to know.

    1. I have seen single shoes as well. And I am thinking the same thing, how? I have heard of small pigs as pets, that this one I feel is way to big to be one.

  7. AHHH - hope the baby deer found her momma!
We have a person in our small town that has a pot bellied pig too. I always love seeing it in their front yard.
You totally know someone celebrated being out of their boot by tossing it "graduation style" :) haha

    1. Haha....Well I guess it's good that they didn't need it anymore!

  8. Um, wow on that pig! I hope it's a pet. We have deer in our very suburban, almost city neighborhood. There are tiny strips of woods between neighborhoods, so I guess they live there? One scared the daylights out of me yesterday when it dashed across the street from someone's yard.

  9. what? There was a pig hanging out in someone's lawn?! That is a new one. We see deer all the time around here of all different sizes. I kind of like them except when I am biking and they jump out

    1. I am assuming that it was their pet. If not, I'm not sure why it was in their front lawn.

  10. You must be very observant! I tend to zone out. I'd probably miss the baby fawn. I did run with a huge hog that roamed the streets of St. John USVI while on vacation a few years ago. That was a little unsettling. Thanks for the linkup!

  11. I saw a rabbit when I was out Tuesday, but that's not strange. We have rabbits and prairie dogs, and I've seen the occasional hawk. I do hope the fawn wasn't lost, and was just running around. I've seen deer around my work building, and there isn't any shelter for them.

    1. I have never seen prairie dogs during a run, guess they are not that common on the east coast..... that'd be so cute!

  12. Wow you really do see a lot of strange things out on your run, LOL

I've seen a few deer before during a run but that's probably the weirdest thing I've ever seen.

  13. We were driving home from Vermont a couple days ago and a fawn ran out on the highway, froze, and then I don't know what happened because I passed it and I did NOT want to look in my rear view mirror in case it got hit! I really hope it ran back in the woods. That picture of that "shoe" is hilarious! And I am surprised someone would have a pig that big!

  14. I do sometimes see the strangest things! Sadly, lots of empty beer cans and booze bottles along much of my route which runs along a forest preserve. I hope the baby fawn made its way back to its mama! And the pig? What the...?

  15. That tiny fawn!!! So cute, but I would have been really worried that the parents would come looking to protect it from me, yikes. As for that pig, WTF?? I mean, that's just weird.

  16. Is that a warthog??! LOL, I have seen deer on the run but it's been a while for me! I hate seeing things that people toss out on to the street, ugh!
