Weekly Wrap....October 15

I hope I can claim this week as a "good week" and not the week where it all went down hill. I'll explain more as we get in to the wrap!

Sunday I did a 5 mile walk with a friend. The conversation was good but we were getting hot and sweaty so we called it quits at mile 5.

Monday was my typical rest day.

We've really had some beautiful weather to be outside!

Tuesday I wasn't really felling it. Physically I was fine but mentally I was conflicted with some issues so running wasn't exactly the heaviest thing on my mind. I did 2 miles running with my mom and then another (almost) 2 mile walk.

Wednesday it was raining when I got home from work and I was actually relieved! That was my excuse to not run. It would have been only a short run anyway as I would have had to come back and shower quickly because I was meeting a friend for dinner and shopping.  I have officially bought my first Christmas gift of the season!  The last few times I've gone out shopping I've been seeing gifts I want to buy but I kept telling myself it was too early to start shopping for Christmas. Well now that stores have Christmas decorations up, I guess it's that time.  I have a mental list in my head as to what I want to get for people so I could probably get all my shopping done in one day and be done!  That probably wont happen though!

Thursday was 4 miles with my mom at the rail trail. She now has planter fasciiates so we are taking things slower.

Funny story, after our run we went to the grocery store next to the trail and as we were getting into our car, a guy was getting out of his car with a cigarette.  Instead of putting his cigarette out, he stuck it under his side view mirror until he came back out. Isn't this just the oddest thing?  As you can probably see from the picture it was damp and starting to spritz anyway. Why did he think it would stay lit?  I should have put this on the things that make you go hmmm, post!

I've been doing a lot of meal creations on Fridays and this Friday I made a homemade Tomato, Basil, Mozzarella, and Chicken pizza.  My Pampered Chef pizza stone broke a few months ago (it actually cracked while in the oven) and I haven't bothered to replace it so I got creative and made the pizza in this Kitchen Aid pan.  I wasn't sure if I could put this pan in the oven, but I did and it turned out beautifully. I may have to make pizza in this pan more often!  Oh, and it was yummy too!

Aren't these Day of the Dead cookies cute? We thought it was a great treat to get since it was Friday the 13th!
Afterwards we went out with some friends to Starbucks for desserts and drinks. I recommended the Maple Pecan to Scott and a Friend but of course I had to get the Pumpkin Spice. My Pumpkin Spice Frappe was not as yummy as I remembered it and had a bit of a "smokey" taste to it.  Of course I finished it though, as well as one of their pumpkin muffins!  We ended up closing the place down!

Saturday I planned to do a 7 mile run but had to stop twice during the run because of some nagging knee pain. I don't know what this is all about but I hope it gets resolved before this weekend's race.
Besides the knee pain, I'll chalk it up as a pretty good run. I felt good the entire time and it really didn't feel like it was 7 miles. There was no struggling what so ever. This run had the potential to be perfect!

After the run, I got cleaned up and Scott and I ran some errands. Afterwards, met some friends and family to do some target shooting. This was actually a lot of fun. We only used bb's but it was fun shooting at zombie targets and then lining up containers to see who could shoot the most down when it was their turn.  Yes, I am easily entertained...lol  Afterwards we went out to dinner and then came home in time to watch The Disappearance of Maura Murray, which I am hooked on (Thank you Megan)!  I admit I dozed off at some parts so I think I may have to watch it again today.

And that's a Wrap! -M

Christmas shopping now, Yay or Nay?   Have you gone target shooting? What was the best homemade thing you've made lately?

We are linking up with Tricia and Holly for their weekly wrap!

  1. Haha--the cigarette was probably left there because they are so expensive, he didn't want to waste it! Smokers are something else.

Hope your runs go better this week!

  2. I haven't even thought about Christmas shopping yet! I hope your knee is ok. I actually banged my knee into a cart this week and it has bothered me a little, luckily not while running.

  4. The maple pecan latte has been on my list to try at Starbucks! I can't do the PSL anymore...they just don't taste right to me. I have found the pumpkin spice chai latte to be a better replacement for me. haha.....I sound like a drink snob! Anyways, I hope that next week is better for you! Keep up the great work!

  5. I have a few gifts already purchased, but not many. I'll do most of my shopping online anyway. They had those Starbucks cookies last year and I definitely ate my share! I hope your knee was just a random pain and does not return. Thanks for linking!

  6. I haven't started shopping yet, but I've been bookmarking items I want to get people. I usually spread out my holiday purchases, but it'll be difficult this year.

  7. Looks like a great week of training, I hope your knee sorts itself out by itself though :) As for Christmas shopping, I keep forgetting that it's sneaking up on me - I'm currently living in Chile and only moving back home the week before Christmas. Here in Chile we're entering summer and I've seen absolutely nothing about Christmas so I keep forgetting I have to think about presents! Thanks for the reminder :)

    1. I guess it's hard to think about Christmas shopping when it really doesn't feel like Christmas yet! Not that I'm complaining!

  8. Hope the knee pain goes away.
Oh, and I bought my first Christmas gifts in July.
Whenever I find something I think a family member would like, that is on amazing sale, I snatch it up.

  10. I was just talking to my husband about Christmas gifts today and he looked at me like I had 3 heads! LOL! I would like to get started early this year for a change.

  11. Wow, you are WAY more ahead of things than I am. I haven't even begin to think of Christmas!

  12. That pizza looks yummy!!! We made a huge crock pot of chili after returning from my race yesterday (it totally down-poured right after I finished, so we were craving something hot and comfort-food-ish). In addition to the usual red kidney beans, I added black beans....oh my! I need to that more often!

  13. I am not Christmas shopping yet, but I am Christmas knitting and have already finished two of my three projects (pats self on back). But I guess I should begin thinking about what I need to purchase, since most of my gifts need to be mailed. ACK!

Your homemade pizza looks delicious. :)

  16. Te pizza and the cookie look so delicious!! Now I'm going to be hungry for pizza!!

I've seen people turn off their cigarettes and put them in their pockets for later, they stink so bad!!

I have a few things on my amazon shopping cart, all for Christmas.

  17. That's hilarious about the cigarette. I don't know why he would think it would stay lit, but I guess he's probably done this before. LOL

I normally have Christmas gifts already actually, because I like to be ahead and utilize deals. I don't have anything yet though so I really need to get doing on that.

  18. I find that the earlier I start Christmas shopping, the better. These last few months of the year just fly right by and if I don't get things in order before December, I end up in a wild frenzy the week of Christmas.

That pizza looks so good! I hope your knee is feeling better by now and that it doesn't bother you at the race.

  19. I'd like to dig into that pizza right now. :)

I actually haven't been cooking or baking a whole lot lately, life has been a little crazy and I need to get started on Thanksgiving.

I hope your knee is just one of those weird pains that goes away quickly! I get twinges now & again, out of the blue, in my knee.

  20. I am really enjoying the Maura Murray doc AND going on reddit to read all the comments. :) I still think a dirt bag abducted her and killed her... I did buy my first Christmas present about two weeks ago while I was at a craft fair. But Paul and I are trying to buy "experiences" for people this year instead of "things". Any ideas?? Nice job on 7 miles! You are set for any relay distance! Sorry about your knee pain. We will all hobble if we have to.

  21. Ooh, your pizza looks awesome! Hopefully the knee thing is no big deal- I find sometimes that as long as I keep moving throughout the day (as you did) it helps to work out any kinks.

  22. My Mom is struggling with PF also we think. She loves to walk so I hate seeing her hurting. The pizza looks yummy! I hope your knee pain goes away!
