My Fall decor

Happy Friday Y'all!

I'm finally starting to feel that fall crispness in the air now when I wake up in the mornings.  It's still warm in the afternoons for my runs though, so that's good!

I thought this would be a good time to finally share some of my fall decor! After all, I'll be taking it down next month and putting up Christmas decorations!

We put up our Fall decorations around the middle of September. I hate to do fall too early so I usually put things out the week of our Harvest Festival.  We bought a "Fall Porch Package" from one of our local Home and Garden stores for $39.99.

The packaged included the following:

2 cornstalks
2 Pumpkins (any size)
2 Mums (the big ones) I also got a yellow one that is not shown.
1 Hay bale
1 Kale (I didn't even know this was thing that people decorated with Kale, who knew?)
3 Gourds
3 Ears of Indian corn

I bought a wreath, a rug, and two hanging mum baskets all separately at another location.

When I bought the wreath and the rug I was planning on decorating with a blue and neutral theme. Once I bought the porch package I ended up getting away from the colors I wanted to use.

We actually bought these hanging mum baskets before any of the buds had bloomed so we really didn't know what color they were going to be. Scott and I were both very delighted to see that they were both multi colored plants.  I LOVE that they are multi colored because I've never seen ones like this before but I am even more thankful that they BOTH ended up being multi colored or that would have thrown my whole decorating scheme off.  Call it decorators OCD!

And then of course I had to add a few Labrador details.

I think I just about have a Labrador flag for every season!

This Lab planter is starting to get a bit faded. It's an oldie but a goody!

Did you decorate for fall? Did you know decorating with Kale was a thing?  -M

  1. Your wreath is so beautiful! That is a really good deal for the fall porch package. I totally would have done that.

I am beyond excited to decorate for Christmas. I checked, and last year I did it on Sat, Nov 12. The second Sat in Nov falls on the 14th this year so maybe I will try to wait until then...

    1. Do you put your outside decorations up then too? Or just the inside?

    2. Well, the inside decorations take me 2-3 days total. I really enjoy decorating, so I spread it out. So I would prob put the outside up on the 12th, and then the inside the next weekend. :)

  2. That's quite a deal getting all those decorations for less than $40! Sadly, I don't do much porch decorating anymore. I have some plants that sit there all through the summer (and I add a few mums as they become available), but that's about it. I will have a couple of 3-foot Christmas trees on either side of my door, but not til late November.

    1. Every year I say i'd like to get those trees too but I know it's going to be an issue with plugging the lights in since I only have an outlet on the far side of my porch (which is not near my door).

  3. Super cute! That's very smart of the garden center to bundle the fall stuff that way. I'd totes buy it! My fall decor may be better than my holiday stuff. Ornamental kale is a big thing here cuz they're so cold resistant.

  4. That all looks so festive!I really like the hay bale with the pumpkins on it. I guess kale is a decorating trend as well as a diet trend!

  5. You are so festive! I'm embarrassed to say I have no fall decor going on right now. No Halloween decor either. Once the boys got older, the incentive kind of went away...

    1. I do not think I have any decor that is specifically for thanksgiving. I have some pumpkins but no turkeys or cornacopias!

  8. I did know decorating with Kale is a thing. In fact, has been a thing long before eating it was a thing! But I don't decorate. I thank everyone that does, that, because it keeps me entertained when I run. :)

  19. We used to decorate a lot for Halloween but our kids grew up and our neighborhood changed, so the only thing I do is change my garden flag to a jack-o-lantern for October. Your fall decorations look really nice and what a great surprise with the colorful mum baskets!

  21. Love your fall decorations! This year I took it up a notch around the house. We actually had corn growing over the summer and now we've left some of the old stalks - they make a nice prop! We also accidentally grew some pumpkins in our garden that I've used for decoration. I love your Lab planter and all the mums!
