Weekly Wrap..March 20th

I'm not gonna lie, this daylight savings and losing an hour sleep this past week kicked my butt. I don't know if it was so much the losing the hour sleep as much as it was that it was so dark when I woke up in the mornings. I was starting to get use to the sun rising and the birds chirping and now it's just total darkness. I pushed snooze on my alarm 4 times this week! I think that had a lot to do with my lack of motivation for the week.

As you recall, last week I just started back in my
running routine with short runs on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. This week I only ran on Tuesday and Thursday but they were actually REALLY GOOD runs so I don't feel bad for only running twice.  I also need to add that on Monday I wore a pair of dress shoes that were less than comfortable and they really started to hurt my feet. I've been having foot pain and cramps because of them all week now. I am really hoping that this does not turn into an issue. It did kind of bother me on my runs this week, but I could still move so I pushed through it.

Tuesday I surprisingly did 4 miles around my island with a good friend I hadn't talked to in a while. We ran at a run/walk pace and it felt good. I wasn't planning on 4 miles but the conversation just kept flowing.

Thursday I did another 4 miles on my favorite trail.  This time I was by myself and I did something that actually surprised me.  It was a very good run!

I was on such a high from Thursdays run that I was excited to get back out there again. I had planned to go back to the trail and run with my mom as she rode her bike but our forecast was a little less than ideal and we couldn't bring ourselves to go out. We could however bring ourselves to go shopping instead...haha!

While I was doing all this, Lacey was loving life in Dallas. She was representing the Big Sur International Marathon at the expo on Friday and Saturday and then ran Rock n Roll Dallas on Sunday.  I'm sure she'll be excited to share more about that whole experience later this week.

Thank you to HoHo Runs and MissSippiPiddlin for hosting The Weekly Wrap.

  1. I wore heels to work on Monday and my feet bothered me for a few days after! That's why I only wear flats unless its absolutely necessary to dress up. DST also made this a rough week for me- it was tough waking up when it was pitch black again!

    1. Yea, I am not a fan of the pitch black mornings. Summer can't get here fast enough!

  2. I wore dress flip flops on Monday and those bother my feet too. I have to stick with my normal shoes, otherwise I feel it from my feet through my shins to my knees.

    1. I hardly ever wear heels. I think the issue with the shoes I wore is that they were pinching my toes. I promptly put them in the Goodwill bag this weekend.

  4. Maybe I need to blame DST for getting sick! I do love the daylight in the evening though. Hooray for some enjoyable runs!

  8. My feet are very sensitive to wearing the wrong shoes! I'll get foot cramps during the night. I definitely go for comfort over style these days. It is wonderful to hear you are having good runs! I only did one weekday dark run this week but the birds were so loud -- and it wasn't light yet. It was really odd. I hope Lacey had a great race. Thanks for linking with us.

    1. Over the past few years I've definitely given up style for comfort and I am very picky about the shoes I wear.

  9. I'm going to copy your excuse and say that this week was a funk for me because of daylight savings too! Haha that would make sense why I felt off all week. Hope that this week is better for both of us :)

Also, when I graduated from college I got rid of all of my high heels. They're so uncomfortable and I hate wearing them so I just donated all of them. Best decision ever!

  10. That one hour time change always hits me for a few days too. It's only one hour how weird

  11. I feed the birds in my backyard, and I swear they start chirping at 4 a.m. even though it's dark to get me up and out to feed them! One day I was running late for work and thought, eh, they can do without birdseed until I get home for work. But I looked out the window and there were about a hundred birds all chirping to get me to come out and feed them, ha ha! Maybe that's why I didn't really notice a change with losing an hour...that, and I love running in the dark of mornings. Glad you got some good runs in!

  12. Yeah, I'd say don't wear those shoes anymore or until you can break them in well.
I learned my lesson the hard way wearing the wrong shoes that hurt my feet, hence the fact that I had to take over 3 years from leading the active life I want because of wearing those stupid shoes:)
I like day light savings time, I know I am in the minority on this. I hardly notice the time difference, but I just love having the sun up more during hours that can be used more for morning runs and evening playtime:)
Very fun about Lacy getting to represent Big Sur, fun race!

  14. I use to could rock some high heels hey I'm vertically challenged and even a couple of inches does me good. I have to say, now I hardly ever wear heels, real heels, I'll wear wedges a lot but not like I use too. I have taken comfort over fashion too!
I'm with you on the DST, I can not seem to adjust to it! Thanks ladies for linking up, can't wait to hear about the RnR Dallas run too! :)
