That's exactly what
happened last week when I mentioned that I had worn a less than comfortable pair of dress shoes. I am assuming that you've all been there and that you could relate. I cleaned out my closet last week and promptly put those shoes in a bag to go to Good Will. I thought that pain was only going to last a few days, but it lingered on.
The pain continued into this past week as well. I didn't know whether I should be massaging it, icing it, popping Ibuprofen, or just resting it. I know the side effects of Ibuprofen and after my bout with ITBS last year I told myself I was going to lay off of it but I couldn't even get through the work day without it.
Speaking of feet, I wanted to take this time to mention that I got to try these foot coverings from Kushyfoot.
The white ones are low trainer socks and I like these because they have some type of grippy type gel on the back to keep them in place. I wouldn't wear them to run in but they are nice for every day use. The black foot coverings are lace and in addition to having the grippy on them, they also have padding for the bottom of the foot. I've never seen foot coverings that had this. I wore these with a pair of flats this week while I was having my foot pain and it felt nice.
I also received a pair of yoga socks. I like these because of the grippy on the bottom and the open toe design!
Even though I was dealing with the foot pain, I was still able to get in some great runs on Tuesday and Friday and stretches and exercises all the other days! On Friday, I woke up with a kink in my neck that I still have not been able to get rid of. I tried cracking it and massaging it with a tennis ball but nothing helps. Anyone have any advice? -M
We hope the weather is nice where you are and that you are having a Happy Easter Holiday!
Thank you to HoHo Runs and MissSippiPiddlin for hosting the weekly wrap.
Sorry to hear that the foot pain lingered! I really like rolling out my feet on a lax ball when they get achy. I also think it helps to roll out my calves. I love the really low socks with the grippy gel that keep them from slipping off! I wear them with my work flats every day.
ReplyDeleteI have been coming home every day and using my foot massage for like 20 minutes hoping that would help.
DeleteI'm sorry to hear about the foot pain!! I hope it goes away soon, and I'm glad you were still able to get in some running!
ReplyDeleteThose grippy socks look awesome!
I didn't hurt as bad when I ran!
DeleteI hope your foot feels better soon! I'm not a fan of Advil all the time either, but sometimes nothing else works. :/ Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteYea, it seemed to give me relief for the time being.
DeleteI've been dealing with my own foot issues, and tomorrow I'm seeing a PT for the first time.
ReplyDeleteIt's not that it's terribly painful, just that it won't go away.
I do a lot of yoga & have a lot of yoga socks! I love them!
I hope the PT gives you some solutions to your pain!
DeleteDamn foot pain!!! It sucks getting older. I never used to have aches and pains 10 years ago but not it's like all I deal with! Once one thing is better, something else pops up!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny cus 10 years ago I use to wear some crazy high heels and never had foot pain. Now this starts.
DeleteUgh foot pain is the worst! I have an extra large bouncy ball that I bought from a dollar store a while back, and it is just the right size to really help my arch pain. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a good idea!
DeleteI had a weird dress shoe related foot pain last week. I ended up wrapping my ankle, elevating my foot, and icing the part that hurt. It all seemed to work and the pain went away in a few days but man, how annoying! I don't know how people wear high heels to work...
ReplyDeleteFunny that you should mention that thing about people commenting on one random thing...that's why I've been downplaying my injuries. Seems like people always zoom right in on that stuff. Even when I drop one line about it, I get advice and diagnoses...so I was loathe to mention it. Of course, now it's bad enough and the cat's out of the bag...
ReplyDeleteWait what is this about your bout with ITBS an side effects of ibuprofen? Just curious. That is odd about your foot I hope you figure it out. Your doing exactly what I would be doing. So happy yall are linking up appreciate it very much.
ReplyDeleteAh sorry about the foot pain! I have definitely had that happen with casual shoes in the past and it's the most annoying thing!
ReplyDeleteHope your foot pain goes away soon! Those socks or foot coverings are interesting especially the open toe one. I like how they have grips on the bottom though.
ReplyDeleteOh Meranda, I am so sorry foot pain is now your nemesis. Hopefully it improves quickly and glad the dress shoes are history. I have never worn gripper socks, but people seem to like those for Yoga. I like to feel the mat with my bare feet.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you are still dealing with your foot pain. If it lingers, you may want to visit a podiatrist. I'm happy to hear you were able to get a couple of good runs in regardless. I've never heard of Kushyfoot foot coverings. I can see where they would be nice to wear with flats. Thanks for linking with us Meranda.
ReplyDeleteI've stopped taking Ibuprofen as much as I can. I'll take it for headaches, but I haven't used it nearly as much as I did. When I had my ITBS, I didn't think it was working.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of yoga socks...but they make total sense. My feet always get cold (actually, they are seldom ever warm), so these would be a good fit for me. Thanks for the info!
ReplyDeleteUgh sorry about the foot pain. I tend to try rolling my feet on a lax ball when they ache - sometimes that works. I'm not a big fan of too much Ibuprophen either - doesn't sit well with me. Hope you get some relief soon!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the lingering foot pain! Glad to hear you were able to get in some running despite the issues. I've tried KushyFoot socks and actually have the yoga ones you mentioned - they are great!
ReplyDeleteuncomfortable footwear is no joke! I had a pair of boots that I LOVED but that aggravated my ITB :-(
ReplyDeleteI hope that foot pain goes away soon! I woke up with a kink in my neck last week (ironically, it was on my first day back to work after having the flu). It's so uncomfortable and annoying when you get one of those! I used a heating pad on mine and it still took about two days but it subsided.
ReplyDeleteoh that's the worst when shoes dont cooperate! I fell asleep on the couch for like 20 min last week and when I woke up, my piriformis started spazing out and I finally got it to calm down last night-ugh!
ReplyDeletei need to get some low socks to wear with my dress shoes
