Welcome to another edition of Thursday Thoughts. Since it's summer and many people are traveling for vacation, we thought this would be something you all might be interested in.
Many of you know that I travel all the time for work so I am always in and out of airports. Recently I was in an airport and I saw this.
It's called Sit n Cycle. Why sit when you can sit and cycle? I admit I have never tried this because I am usually in a skirt and heels when I am passing through. I have seen many people doing this while waiting for their flights, such as business men in suits, and even young kids. What a neat idea to pass the time while you are waiting on your flight.
And guess what? Its free! No coins ( or dollars) required!
Have you ever seen this or any another fitness related activity in an airport? ~L
I would love to see one of these in an airport! However, I don't think I would actually use them unless they were in a private room or something.
ReplyDeleteYou'd be surprised how many people do it.
DeleteThis is such a great idea! So many people wind up spending hours in airports due to connections and/or delays, and being able to exercise beyond just walking around is a great idea.
ReplyDeleteBtw, I've nominated both of you for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award. Be sure to check out my post! http://dancingtorunning.com/2014/08/13/very-inspiring-blogger-award/
Yes it is a great way to keep moving while you wait.
DeleteOk thanks. We'll be sure to check it out.
Access to free bike riding at the airport is a great idea!
ReplyDeleteYes it really passes the time.
DeleteThat's interesting, I've never seen these in airports but I'll definitely look for them now! There are signs at one of the airports around here for a 3k walking path in the airport and I thought that was kind of cool.
ReplyDeleteOh that's neat. I never saw that. I'm always intrigued what you see in airports.
DeleteAccording to this article, they're only in Philadelphia right now - I hope they expand to other airports! The article also gives a link to finding airports with gyms, but it looks like some of them are just "near" the airport, not in it: http://www.flyinstyle.net/travel-tips/2512/
ReplyDeleteYep that's where I saw it since I'm always there. I wasn't sure if they were anywhere else, but I'm sure they will be at other airports soon.
DeleteInteresting. I haven't seen them in Dallas yet, but then again I normally fly so early I'm just trying to stay awake.
ReplyDeleteI guess they are onlt in Philadelphia airport right now, but I'm sure they will be coming to other major cities soon.
DeleteThat's so awesome! They should roll these out in all airports. I've had some pretty long layovers, and it would be great to exercise!
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to have another option rather than roaming the terminals.
DeleteThat is fantastic! I want one of those for my living room :)
ReplyDeleteIt sure would make the time fly while watching tv:)
DeleteWhoa, Ive never seen those bikes- thats pretty cool! I've seen airports with yoga/meditation rooms but thats about it!
ReplyDeleteHow cool is that? I have never seen the yoga rooms. Guess we have been to different airports.
DeleteHoly moly this is awesome! I've never seen these at the airport before, but what a great idea!
ReplyDeleteYea I thought so too. They should be coming up with more at other airports soon.
DeleteNever have I seen a sit and cycle before! I think it's pretty cool you work in the flight industry. I only fly once every blue moon but I always notice that the workers are always very put together and it seems like a cool job. :)
ReplyDeleteIt can be fun at times, but like any other job it has its ups and downs:)
DeleteNever seen these! Great idea
ReplyDeleteYea I know! A great way to pass the time.
DeleteThis is so awesome! Even better that you don't have to pay. They should implement these more places than just airports... like the DMV or MD offices.
ReplyDeleteYea that would be a great idea.
DeleteWhat an interesting concept! I think I would definitely take advantage, especially during long layovers...thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteYour welcome. Great to pass time.
DeleteNo cost?! That is the biggest surprise to me and if my flight was delayed or if I had a long layover, this would be awesome just to get moving a bit. I hate how sedentary I usually feel on air travel days.
ReplyDeleteHow fun, I must not be seeing "all the airport" used to fly a ton and I have never seen these, I am really going to have to keep my eyes open next time I am there:)
ReplyDeleteI think I would so take advantage of this, well as long as I didn't really go so much as to sticky sweat, I'd feel too bad for the person having to sit on the plane next to me, and visa versa, LOL
