Cozy Things For Running In The Cold

Since it's been quite chilly in these parts ( and in many parts for that matter), I thought for this week's "Friday Five" I would share my favorite "Cozy" things that help me have a pleasant run in the winter time!

1. My Under Armor Cold Gear Hood!  This has been a god sent on those chilly days. I love this because it keeps my ears warm. I often have a hard time keeping those ear warmer headbands and hats to stay put on my head ( while still covering my ears). The part that goes across your mouth and nose can easily be pulled down. I sometimes don't run with it covering my nose.

2. These pretty and pink knit gloves from Running Skirts. Most days these gloves are just enough for my run ( and I end up taking them off halfway through my run). I admit there have been a few days that I did need something a little thicker, but I love this cozy cotton on my hands.

3. I'm Loving my Run Disney running jacket. This is made of breathable material yet has a fleece lining that keeps you warm. I wear this on practically every run.

These next items are for the "Post Run". But I still have to add them to my "cozy" list!

4. Last fall I discovered I loved this Vaseline total moisture lotion with pure oat extract.  No more over priced Bath and Body Works lotion for me! This stuff is amazing and it smells pleasant without being overwhelming. Your skin gets dry when you run outside so make sure you are moisturizing!

5. Gotta have the fuzzy socks and slippers for after your cold run. Enough said!
You can read about how amazing these socks are and why they are so special HERE!

What is one of your "cozy" items that make your cold runs more enjoyable?

  1. I REALLY want that purple Disney running jacket, but I never see it at any of the runDisney expos I go to :0(

That cold headgear that covers your face looks awesome - I've never tried those before! It's been sooooo cold here in Houston lately that I have been wishing I have more pieces of cold running gear lol.

    1. The jacket is actually more blue, not really purple and I did not get it at the expo. Got it at the club house shop. The UA hood is great and it isn't too heavy either. I think it would be perfect for your climate as well!

  3. Your Disney jacket is really pretty. Did you buy that Marathon weekend? I always buy the Lycra jackets because I wear those to the gym about 7 months of the year....easy excuse to need many!

    1. Nope, I bought it during wine n Dine weekend. I'm hoping to get a different colored one for PHM weekend. If not, i'll get one of the lycra ones instead!

  5. I just don't run outside if it's cold, I had enough of that in high school in college :-p I put up with the cold in Boston and now I can join the ranks of Texans and complain about it.

  6. I'm loving the runDisney jacket! I got a Donald one during Marathon weekend. I'm thinking a new jacket might become a staple purchase at future runDisney expos... :)

    1. I bought that one in 2013 and was hoping they would have a different color/style for 2014 but since you just bought this exact one this year I guess I am out of luck!

  10. Great gear -- I especially like those gloves! The one thing I've discovered that is a must is HAND WARMERS! They make a HUGE difference :)

    1. I did not get the jacket at the expo. They have them at the club shop and Team Mickey at DTD. I also saw they use to have them online too.

  14. I don't think I could run with anything over my mouth/nose. Just thinking about it makes me uncomfortable.

My favorite cold weather gear is my North Face Animagi jacket - it has little pockets in the sleeves so you can tuck your hands inside, which is the best.

  15. I don't know how you cold weather runners do it, but I'm impressed. I do have on some very similar fuzzy winter socks, but they were a gift so I'm not sure of the brand. The closest I come to winter gear is a long sleeved tech shirt, haha.

  16. Great gear! I don't need most of these now, but our house is pretty cold so I do wear the fuzzy socks :)

  18. What a great list...idk if KY quote qualifies for a hood yet but gloves and a warm jacket totally! Plus who doesn't need a little fuzzy sock action for their feet every now and then lol

  19. The lotion and the Gear Hood sound good. I've needed to layer more than usual this winter here in SE TX. Looking forward to spring!
