Forget the List, This is the Only Gift a Runner Will Need!

There are several post floating around about "Holiday Gifts for Runners".  Maybe you read them because you are trying to find a gift to give a runner on your gift giving list, or maybe your are a runner and are looking for ideas for your own wish list!
We didn't was to reiterate what others have said, so we are going to just add one must have item!
It's the U-Comfy Leg and Foot Massager!
Last September(2012) I signed  for my first marathon that was in January 2013(WDW Marathon). So with any marathon training, a lot of miles are logged. With many miles come sore feet and legs. I knew what was one the top of my wish list for Christmas that year. A foot massager! And that is exactly what I received!  I first tried out this model at the Brookstone store. I loved that it massaged your feet AND Calves! Many just massage the feet and I find that it is my calves that are usually the most sore.
I remember trying it out at the mall and saying to my mom If I ever sign up for a marathon this is what I want. When I received the gift for Christmas, my mom assured me that was the only reason I got it.

Here are the specs:
With three different kneading and massage modes, the U-Comfy Leg and Feet Massager penetrates deeply into your muscles to target vital reflex points in the lower legs (calves), ankles and feet
  • Heightens your reflexology senses
  • Massage can be customized with adjustable levels of low, medium and high
  • Features a 15-minute auto shut-off timer
  • No batteries needed
  • One-year warranty

  • I would say I got my money's worth out of it, but because I received it as a gift, I can say that I have definitely put the massager to good use.
Since receiving my massager last Christmas I have completed 5 marathons and 3 half marathons and several smaller races. It is so nice to come home after a race to sit in my foot massager and relax.
So if I could only pick one item a runner should put on their holiday list, this would be it!
(p.s: I have since found out that you can buy these at Bed, Bath and Beyond too)
How do you relax after a race? If you could only chose one thing a runner should put on their holiday list, what would it be?     ~L

    1. These are amazing! I don't own one but I have tried them in the past in the mall. I can imagine they come in handy after long runs! After a race, I wear compression tights the rest of the day and try to relax. :0)

    2. That looks so relaxing... next time I'm in Brookstone, I am going to give it a try!! After a race, I try to walk a little bit, maybe do an ice bath depending on the length of the race and most importantly, relax!

      1. Make sure you carve some serious time out of your day to spend at Brookstone, once you put your legs in this you won't want to come out of it,,haha!

    3. I worked as a Seasonal Asst Manager at a Brookstone kiosk a few years back and we loved those machines....and that was before I was a runner. Anyone who stands on their feet for work would also benefit greatly from this awesome leg massager. You are lucky to have one in your home!

      1. I agree, anyone who is on their feet for an extended period of time could benefit from this. It is very convenient having one at home!

    4. That's something I can really use since I still get pretty sore calves from running. Right now all I'd doing is using a kitchen rolling pin to massage my calves after a run. :)

      1. This is excellent for sore calves ( one of the best ones I've seen out there that actually massage the calves). A fellow runner friend told me about using the rolling pin too, so that is what I used before I got THE STICK!
