A Piece of History in EPCOT's Germany pavilion

Unique souvenirs at Disney World, EPCOT

Tucked inside the Germany Pavilion in EPCOT, is a gift shop that sells what might be one of the most unique souvenir's in the park.

The shop is called Stein Haus, and it sells steins that hold a real piece of history.

If you’ve ever wandered through this shop, you’ve probably noticed the stunning hand‑crafted beer steins lining the shelves. The unique thing about these steins is that they includes a piece of the Berlin Wall.
When I first heard about these items, I thought How authentic is this?  And what’s the story behind it?
Let’s dive into the fascinating history behind these unique collectibles.

The steins sold in EPCOT’s Germany Pavilion really do contain authentic fragments of the Berlin Wall. Disney doesn’t make these steins. They’re imported from traditional German stein manufacturers who specialize in limited‑edition collector pieces.

The most common maker is King Werk, a respected stein producer based in Höhr‑Grenzhausen, Germany. They create a special line of “Berlin Mauer” (Berlin Wall).  These are the same steins sold in specialty shops throughout Germany. EPCOT simply brings them to the pavilion as part of its curated collection of authentic German goods.

But here's the fine print so to speak. When I first saw these steins, I just assumed that the large stone on the top of the stein was the piece of the Berlin wall, but it's not! This stone is made of ceramic or resin and it is simply decorative, ( as a way to resemble the wall). Real Berlin Wall concrete is too valuable, too brittle, and too inconsistent to use as a lid ornament.

The real piece of the Berlin wall is actually very small ( about the size of a fingernail) and is embedded into the body of the stein. It is often displayed behind a tiny window or a medallion on the stein.
Although the piece of wall is small, it is genuine and it does come with a certificate of authenticity and a serial number.

At the time of my visit, I noticed the price of these steins started at $150.

The Germany Pavilion has always focused on authenticity. Nearly everything in the shops from cuckoo clocks to Christmas ornaments to hand‑painted steins is imported from German artisans.

Whether you’re a history buff, a stein collector, or just someone who loves discovering hidden gems at EPCOT, the Berlin Wall steins are a remarkable find. They blend craftsmanship, culture, and real-world history all wrapped up in a souvenir you can display proudly at home.
Next time you’re in the Germany Pavilion, take a closer look. You might be holding a tiny piece of world history in your hands.

Till next time ~ M and L
