Today is day three of our cruise on the Disney Magic!
Today was probably our favorite day because we would be docking at Disney's island, Lookout Cay at Light House Point. This island is not only new to us, but it has not even been in operation for a year yet at this point.
We grabbed a quick breakfast at Cabanas and then went out on the deck to take in the view while we waited for the all call to disembark.
We knew the pier from the ship to the island was going to be long, but wow! Looking at it from the ship made it look like it went on for miles and miles!
Prior to disembarkation time, there was an announcement for anyone who had mobility issues. They could meet at a certain part of the ship and then Disney cast members would make sure you had some mode of transportation to get you across the pier and to the island. I'm not sure if this transportation was a tram or golf cart or something else.
There were also these little red wagons available for parents who wanted to use them for their small children. These wagons were available on the way to the island and then again on the way back.
Lacey decided to track how far the walk on the pier actually was so she set her Garmin watch as soon as we bean the walk. She tracked it at just a bit over half a mile!
Just as we approached the island, we saw the welcome sign, some buildings, a water station, a gift shop kiosk. And a tram!
Guess what, we were not where we needed to be yet! This was just a teaser. We still needed to take a tram to the other part of the island. This took several more minutes.
Then, we were finally here! Here is the main center of the island. There is a customer service station here, a gift shop, another small shop with local crafts and jewelry, and lots of photo op stations. There are actually 5 of these colorful photo ops all over the island. Each one is themed for one of the Fab 5 characters. This one is Donald Duck. Minnie, Mickey, and Goofy are in the min area, but the Pluto photo op is on the beach near the cultural center.
The scenery here is beautiful. We explored some of the spaces on the island before going to the beach to claim a lounge chair for the day.
Sebastian's Cove is a splash area for younger children.Reef and Wreck is one of the many bars on the island.
And this view!
There are Cabanas down this way and even a lunch station called Serenity Bay BBQ. As we continued to walk down to Serenity Bay, we realized we were further down on the beach than we wanted to be. Serenity Bay really is pretty secluded and we didn't feel the need to be that far away from everything else. In fact, we wanted to be where all the commotion and going ons where happening. So we headed back to one of the family beaches.
One thing that is amazing about sailing on a smaller ship is that the beach was NOT crowded at all. This island was built to accommodate all the guests on larger cruise ships (The Adventure hold approximately 6,700 passengers) but we were only here with approximately only 2,500 passengers. Even after an hour or so of being on the island I remember asking my sister "Where is everybody?" because it just didn't look like there were a lot of people here.
Hiking the nature trail was definitely something we planned to do, but at this moment we had our water shoes on and were worried about wearing them on the rocky terrain. Our friends said the water shoes would be fine. So with that, we headed on to the nature trail.
There are actually two water stations here, which we were very grateful for since we did not bring our own water bottles.
Once we got well into the trail, there seemed to be some other paths branching off, so you may be able to access the trail from other entry points. If that is the case, there may have been even more water stations that we don't know about.
At the top of the trail was the lighthouse for which Lighthouse Point was named. We both thought this was very underwhelming.
Around the trail there are some signs indicating was some of the plants and animals are that you may see on the trail. Nothing too exciting though.
It turns out, that several characters were out doing photos. Characters meet on the left hand side and ride hand side of True True BBQ before lunch and then again after lunch.
We saw a lot of people having fun there. There is a splash pad for children and two mid size water slides.
We noticed that this wasn't just a kid area, it was a family area and both children and adults were going down the slides. After the Aqua Dunk Lacey experienced yesterday on the ship, these mild slides were just our speed!
After enjoying our time in the splash area, we decided to go back to our chairs on the beach. It was just so hot here that we ended up spending more time in the ocean than we did sitting in our beach chairs. We had so much fun swimming, floating, and catching waves!
While on the beach, I did check out the cultural center. There really wasn't much going on there. There was a lady talking about Bohemian head dresses, but there were only a few guests in there for the presentation.
Mickey and Minnie were the leaders of the parade, followed by a handful of musicians and dancers. To be honest, this was not much of a parade.
It was fun to see the colorful costumes and fun headdresses, but I would not go out of my way to see this again.
When it was time to head to the beach, we headed in the direction of Serenity Bay, the adults only area.

So we headed back to one of the family beaches.
There are two family beaches and two other lunch stations, ( True True BBQ and True True Too). We found chairs near the first family beach.

We felt comfortable enough to lay our beach bags on the chair unattended while we walked down the beach. (We didn't have anything valuable in there)
We walked towards the cliffs because I was curious what was down that way. We saw some of our friends walking towards us from the opposite directions. They had just finished the hiking path and said that we should check it out.

The nature trail is a dirt path and it is rocky and uneven terrain in some places.
There are actually two water stations here, which we were very grateful for since we did not bring our own water bottles.
Note: we started this trail at the very end of the beach ( would be on the right hand side if you are facing the ocean).

Also from up here we had a nice view of the ship.
Around the trail there are some signs indicating was some of the plants and animals are that you may see on the trail. Nothing too exciting though.
By this time, it was really hot and we were happy to be exiting the trail.
The trail left us out near the True True BBQ area. Lunch was not ready yet but the beverage stations were available. We got ourselves a drink and just sat on a bench and watched the beautiful scenery for a bit.
While we were resting, we were told that Characters in their beach attire would be coming out for photos. When we were on Castaway Cay ( during our sailing on the Disney Wish), we didn't get to see any of the characters out on the island, so we made it a point to a least see one character.
It turns out, that several characters were out doing photos. Characters meet on the left hand side and ride hand side of True True BBQ before lunch and then again after lunch.
The first characters we saw were Donald and Daisy.
After we were done taking character photos, lunch was open.
We ate at True True BBQ.
It was the typical picnic style food, burgers, chicken, salads, fruit, etc.
There was an ice cream machine there and the flavors were vanilla and banana. There may have been chocolate there as well, but I don't remember seeing it.
After lunch more characters came out in their beach attire.
Note: You will only see the Fab 5 characters out on the island ( princesses do not appear off the ship).
Character appearances on the island will also be listed on the Navigator app ( or the paper version if you wish to get one).
After the second round of character photos, we decided to go over and check out the splash area.

We packed our things up and decided to head out a little before 2:00pm. We wanted to make sure we made it back up to the main center in time to watch the Junkanoo parade.
While we were waiting for the parade to start, I went into the gift shop to buy my dad a shirt. Our dad is an avid bike rider and I saw a shirt that had Mickey Mouse riding his bike on the island, and thought it would be a perfect gift for him.
Mickey and Minnie were the leaders of the parade, followed by a handful of musicians and dancers. To be honest, this was not much of a parade.
It was fun to see the colorful costumes and fun headdresses, but I would not go out of my way to see this again.
After the parade, we waited for the tram to take us back to the pier for the long walk back to the ship!
And that was our day at Disney's Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.
Stay tuned as we continue the evening on the ship for Pirate Night!
Be sure to check out our days 1 and 2 on the Disney Magic!
Till next time ~ M and L
