1923 on the Disney Wish Cruise Ship: Our first Dining Rotation

Fairytales and Fitness Disney Blog
1923 was the first restaurant on our dining rotation when we were on the Disney Wish.
The name, 1923 refers to the year the Disney company was founded by brothers Walt and Roy Disney.
Let's check out this restaurant!

As you enter the restaurant from the Grand Hall on deck 3, there are two separate entrances to the restaurant. On the right is the entrance to the Walt Disney side and to the left is the entrance to the Roy Disney side. On your cruise itinerary it will tell you which side you will be seated on. Don't worry, one side is not better than the other. It all leads to the same restaurant. They just break up the dining rooms so it doesn't feel so crowded. Plus, it adds an extra element of surprise to your trip wondering which dining room you will be in!

We were in the Roy Disney side of the dining room.

The theme here is classic, old Hollywood glamour! This felt more like an upscale restaurant than a Disney themed restaurant. There was no song and dance or performances going on here, but that was okay.  There were still nods to Disney, but in a more classic, subtle way. The nods were through the artifacts and artwork that were displayed.

We had chose the early seating, which is at 5:45 pm. We knew the theme here was classic/Hollywood, so we decided to wear our classic Minnie dresses.

When we arrived, we were escorted to our table and found that we were sitting at a table that was set for six people. We were the first to arrive. When the other two couples showed up, they introduced themselves and we found out they were from Virginia Beach and Florida.  How ironic, we definitely had things in common with both couples. We were off to a good start.

Our waiter was so attentive and at one point he discretely asked us if we felt comfortable sitting with these other people. If we hadn't, he was willing to move us.  Of course we felt totally comfortable, and we let him know that we would be fine. What a nice gesture on his part.

The waiter brought out the menus and then we started with drink orders followed by ordering appetizers and entrees.

As with any cruise line, you may order as many items as you would like. The following pictures are what my sister and I shared. Although we could get whatever we wanted, we thought it better to just split some things so we could both taste them.

The appetizers came out first and this is what we ordered.

Next up were soups and salads.

For the main entree, ( as if we needed more food after this..lol). I was debating between the chicken and the steak. I ultimately decided to order the chicken and Lacey ordered the steak.

My chicken seemed a little greasy and I didn't think it had a good flavor.

Lacey gave me a taste of her steak and I said how good it was and that I should have ordered that instead. The waiter overheard me say this and he brought me out a steak as well!

After letting our food settle a bit, we ordered dessert.

I ordered the Hollywood Hills sundae that we both shared

But that wasn't all. We had to try these other dessert offerings as well.

What a great meal and what a great experience. It was only our first evening on board and we were already so impressed.  This is the more "low key" restaurant in the dining rotation,  so we were excited to see what the other ones would be like in the next few days.

We were also glad that we had first seating at 5:45 pm.  This gave us the rest of the night to walk our food off....lol

See you at the next restaurant on DCL! ~ M and L
