Eight Spoon Cafe at Disney's Animal Kingdom- What a gem!

I can't believe I just discovered this little gem of a food stand at Disney's Animal Kingdom!

If you were to ask me what my favorite restaurant was in Animal Kingdom, without hesitation I would tell you Flame Tree Barbecue.  I will always ask to got to FTB because I enjoy their pulled pork and mac and cheese bowl.  However, I had no idea what Eight Spoon Cafe had on their menu.

Eight Spoon Cafe is a quick service walk up window located on Discovery Island. It is actually right around the corner from Flame Tree Barbecue.  You will pass it on the left hand side just before crossing the bridge to Asia.

Guess what? Eight Spoon Cafe also has a mac and cheese bowl with pulled pork!  It is about half the price of the bowl at FTB, but to be fair, it is a smaller portion ( and doesn't come with coleslaw or an onion ring).  There is also a mac and cheese bowl with beef that does have crunchy onions on top or you can get just mac and cheese without meat.

This mac and cheese bowl with pulled pork and pickles was only $6.79. I loved that this wasn't a full meal ( and that I could get something else later) yet it gave me that Animal Kingdom mac and cheese fix that I crave when I am here.  Also, I will admit that sometimes it is too warm outside to eat the heavier option at Flame Tree Barbecue, so this is the perfect portion size to compromise with.

There are a few tables and chairs in the area that you can sit at while enjoying your food from Eight Spoon Cafe.

I can't believe I recently discovered this "not so hidden" hidden gem in Animal Kingdom!

What is your favorite quick service restaurant at Animal Kingdom?

Till next time ~ M
