There's nothing like going to Disney World during the Holidays. It's full of festive decor, yummy snacks, holiday merchandise, and fun entertainment. We enjoy going to the parks for this fun atmosphere, but we also REALLY enjoy going to the Disney Resorts as well!
Today we are showing you all the festive fun you can have at Disney's Grand Floridian.
First up is the gigantic Gingerbread House. This really is the star of the show at the Grand Floridian and the reason most visitors stop here. The Grand Floridian started putting up a gingerbread house in 1999. The first time we ever saw it was 2006.
We have been back to visit it several times since then and the design is slightly different each year.
Yes, it is made of real gingerbread. It is actually a life size house/cottage. You can not go inside, but there are cast members working inside the house as it doubles as a little shop.
They sell gingerbread cookies, ornaments, and other sweet treats outside of the house. You can then take your selected treats up to the gingerbread window and a cast member will cash you out.
Each resort has it's own themed tree, so be sure to stop and get a picture with this one. This is not the tallest tree on Disney property, but it is quite impressive. It is decorated in a Victorian theme, which is of course fitting for the Grand Floridian.
If gingerbread treats aren't your thing, be sure to stop at the Gasparilla Grill ( The Grand Floridian's quick service location) for their selection of holiday sweets.
Don't these look scrumptious?
You will have to walk outside of the lobby to access Gasparilla Grill. There is no direct route for guests inside.
Like every resort, there is lots of holiday shopping here. Of course your have your typical resort merchandise at the gift shops, but the Grand Floridian has a shop no other Disney resort has, Basin!
Basin or ( Basin White) is a Bath and Body type store. They have a variety of seasonal soaps, and bath products!
They usually have some sort of deal going on if you buy multiples. This is such a fun place and I spend too much time in here. Click HERE to see more about Basin.
Happy Holidays! ~M and L
