The last time we stayed at Disney's Contemporary resort was during Marathon weekend in 2015, so we were due for another stay. I really liked the decor of the Contemporary rooms back then but I was really excited to see the updated Incredibles rooms!
Our reason for choosing the Contemporary Resort this visit was because we were going to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party ( MNSSHP) and we wanted to be able to walk from Magic Kingdom right the the resort at the end of a very long night. Not having to rely on bus transportation is a huge perk for choosing the Contemporary. Click HERE to see what the Contemporary rooms use to look like.
The Contemporary Resort has two parts, the Main Tower and the Garden Wing. Staying in the Main Tower means you never have to walk outside to access restaurants, lounges, or the monorail. However, the Garden Wing provides a covered walkway that connects the wing to the tower. Honestly, it's not that far of a walk!
We had a room in the Garden Wing on the 3rd floor. The Garden Wing is just off to the side of the main tower. The Garden Wings have essentially the same rooms ( same decor and configuration) as the Main Tower rooms but for a fraction of the price!
Let's take a look at our room!
I appreciated how large the entry area was and all the storage spaces it had to offer. The room had two closets, a coffee bar area, a bench area ( that was perfect to put bags and/or a small suitcase on), and then another counter area with stool.
The coffee bar had a fridge/cooler in that cabinet.
Inside the closets were more storage and an "incredible" surprise. We just loved the Disney touches in this room!
My first thought as soon as we entered the room was "Wow, this is huge"!
I think the white bedding and the light colored walls made it look large. Speaking of white bedding, I really dislike how all the Disney resorts are going to the non-descript white bed covers. I really liked the uniqueness of the bedspreads they use to have.
Fun Fact: I was actually able to purchase one the bedspreads from the Grand Floridian when they went through their remodel.
I'm glad the Incredibles pillows at least give it a pop of color. The Incredible pillow covers are like a vinyl ( I think). They are not soft, so they got put on the floor for bed time. The other pillows however are very soft as is the bed! The beds both have reading lamps attached to the headboard as well as night stands on both sides with chargers. This was a nice touch.
Check out the masks on the wallpaper, another unique Disney touch. I was actually surprised that our room had carpet, because most of the renovated rooms in the other resorts do not. However, I did not mind because I actually prefer a carpeted room.
This retro sofa folds out to a sleeper. We had no need for this so we did not unfold it.
Now on to the bathroom!
Like most deluxe resort rooms, the bathrooms are just fabulous! However there is a caveat to their set up in comparison to a Moderate or even Value resort.
The bathrooms are large, but there is no privacy if someone is showering and another person needs to use the sink, vanity, or toilet.
There is a separate water closet (toilet room), but you have to walk through the vanity area to access it.
In Moderate and Value resorts, both the shower and toilet are closed off in one room, while the vanity is in another space. This makes it more convenient when multiple people are getting ready at the same time. We had a fabulous bathroom set up at Saratoga Springs and Boardwalk Inn ( Which are both also Deluxe resorts).
I loved that we had a balcony with sliding glass doors. HOWEVER, in the Contemporary Garden Wing, there are no actually balconies that you can step out on. You can open the door, but that's it. There is just a railing there. It's more of a "Juliet balcony". It's sort of silly, but sort of nice. I'd rather have this than a window that doesn't open at all.
Note: If you have a room on the first floor of the Garden Wing, you do have a small patio you can walk out on.
Although no one on the outside could see it, we decorated our glass door with Disney Halloween window clings!
However, when we came back to our room after being out one night, I looked out our balcony and saw just the tip of Cinderella Castle. "Yup, that's it" I thought. Seeing this little bit of Cinderella Castle is probably what classified this room as having a "Theme Park View"! I had to laugh out loud at that one!
We loved our room, but regardless of where your room is located, you just can't beat the convenient location of Disney's Contemporary Resort. Please check back for our Completed Guide to the Contemporary Resort blog post coming soon!
During our last stay at the Contemporary Resort, we had a Bay lake view. It was during Marathon weekend, so we really didn't enjoy it as much as we could have. It was nice though to be able to hear the Electric Water Pageant go by on the lake. During this visit, we were said to have a "Theme Park View". The only view we had was really of the parking lot. It was fun seeing the monorail from our room so perhaps that's what is considered a "Theme Park View"!

Till next time ~M and L
