Dreams that Soar Drone show at Disney Springs

Fairytales and Fitness Disney Blog

This summer Disney is hosting a drone show at Disney Springs. There are two shows each night, one at 9:00 pm and one at 10:45 pm. We recently attended the 9:00pm . Here are the details!

We had finished up dinner at Summer House on the lake at about 8:15 pm. The Summer house sits right along the lake where the drone show will take place. Although there are steps leading from the back patio of the Summer House, to the viewing area, it is roped off and guest have to walk all the way around.
This all takes place on the West Side of Disney Springs.  About an hour before the show starts, Disney Cast Members will be holding signs to tell you where to go.  Essentially, you are going to walk all the way to the end of Disney Springs and turn right by the House of Blues. There is a grassy lawn area there where guests may stand or sit. There are no chairs, you will be sitting on the grass.

You can also choose to stand along the walk way near the water. This is what we did. A cast member told my sister that this would give us the best view.  Ironically, we ended up standing right behind the Summer House patio!  This area was very crowded by the time the show started.

A beautiful sunset at Disney Springs.

A few minutes before 9:00 pm, an announcement came on the loudspeaker saying that the show would be delayed for a bit. You could hear the crowd groan! We believed it was because there was a slight breeze. It was not windy by any means, but we could feel a breeze and assumed the air needed to be perfect to fly the drones.

The show actually started a few minutes after 9:00 pm. Had there not been an announcement saying it was going to be delayed, I don't think anyone would have even noticed it wasn't running exactly on time.

We hadn't heard much or seen anything about this drone show, so we didn't know what to expect.

Turns out, this was really amazing! The drones took the formation of Disney characters and scenes from Disney movies and it was all set to Disney music and commentary.

If you have a Disney MagicBand+ your band will light up and interact wit the show.

At one point, I noticed a drone fall from the sky and land in the water and I thought it was just part of the show, but the crowd went "awww".  And then it happened for a second time on a different formation and then I realized that it was not part of the show and that two drones had fallen from the sky.  That really did not take away from the show. It was just a small detail we noticed.

These were just some of the fabulous drone formations from the night.  I won't share them all because I don't want to spoil the magic for anyone wishing to see the show in person.

The show is at 9:00 pm and 10:45 pm. We went to the early show but if you are hoping to also see one of the night time fireworks shows at the parks, you should still be able to see those and make it to the 10:45 pm show.  It is really something worth seeing.

As of right now, this is only here for the summer. The show is slated to end on September 2.  Hopefully Disney will let it stick around a little longer.

Till next time ~ M and L
