February Runfessions!

Welcome! I'm so glad you stopped by. It's that time again to join Marcia for our monthly Runfessions!

I Runfess that I didn't exactly plan on it, but I guess I've taken a hiatus from outdoor running this winter. I haven't ran outside since before Christmas and since Spring is just right around the corner, I say why even push myself to do so...lol.  Let's just make it a solid "break" for the season!

I also Runfess that I continue to ride my indoor bike and have been doing a LOT of house walking! Did I tell you about my house walking?  It's something I've been doing since Thanksgiving ( as part of a Fitbit challenge with a friend).  The challenge has ended but I have continued the walking. You may think just walking around the house is boring but I really do enjoy the time I spend doing it. I put some music on and then just walk my loops (and switching it up every once in a while). It's funny when the dogs start following me. A few times I've actually walked Willow on her leash. It's a win win for both of us. I get my steps in and she gets to practice her leash skills ( without the temptations of  squirrels or sticks).

With that said, I also Runfess that I may need to get a new fitness tracker. Mine seems to be going wonky lately.  It takes about a day after I charge it to keep up with the exact time.  For example, when it is 2:00 pm real time, my tracker will say it is 9:00pm, therefore only giving me 3 more hours to get in my steps for the day before it resets itself.  This has been frustrating because there were times were I was so close for the day, and then BAM, it resets!  Also, my data does not seem to be accurate on the app.

So I will also Runfess that I am looking for the most basic of Fitbits. Just something to count steps and miles . Nothing Fancy. I Runfess that I am willing to buy a second hand one if anyone wants to part with their old gadgets!  I know I am always a few years behind in technology. I won't even tell you how old my cell phone is....lol

And lastly I will Runfess that after having some sunny days here ( and the snow has melted off the sidewalk) I am ready to lace up those shoes and run outside again!  Or should I wait till the official start of Spring?  -M

Happy Weekend friends!

  1. Well, you know I like my outdoor runs, so I won't weigh in on what I think you should do, lol! I love that you walk Willow around the house on a leash. Cocoa would not have it. We dig a path for her in the snow in the backyard and let me tell you, she wears it down!

  2. Ugh, I runfess that I have been stuck indoors all month due to non-stop snow and ice. I had a really old "no frills" Fitbit that wasn't charging very well, and when I moved on to the Garmin I gave it to my mom just to see if she would like one. My to my amazement, she loves it and is still using it all of these years later. She doesn't mind when it dies, she just recharges it.

  3. I don't blame you one bit for not wanting to head out in the cold. Being here in FL, the clear, warm pavement is SO NICE! I love that you are walking around the house. Lots of the women in my challenge groups do the same. Whatever works! Thanks for linking!

  4. At this point, I think you could hold out for nice weather! We are getting a taste of that right now.

  5. When I first started running, I skipped winter and did not run from Oct to April lol

But I realized that I kept starting over with my base. And I could just wear layers and run outside even if I hated it.

Once you start, you'll get back in rhythm I bet.

  6. My outdoor walks have really fizzled out so indoor walking sounds like a great idea! If it works for you, why not!?

  7. I am loving these sunny days we have been having lately. It does make me want to get outside for a run or walk. About 50% of the snow is gone. I have been outdoor running all winter, but some of the days are really dicey. I tiptoe around the snow/ice on the sidewalks and streets. I think our temperatures are supposed to be in the 50s this weekend. Maybe the beginning of March would be a good time to begin outdoor running again. Just think of all that Vitamin D you get from being outdoors!

  8. No! Don't wait! Up here there is still a lot of snow and gray, but it is getting warmer and I'm hopeful with that and some rain in the forecast the snow will be gone soon.

I pace around the house a lot, but it's not formal loops. When my tea is steeping, I just pace back & forth. Mr. Judy isn't fond of that, but I'm not gonna stop so oh well.

I'm usually fairly behind in tech too. My phone is an iphone 6 -- I think they're on 11 now? Although I may need a new one soon due to lack of storage. I runfess that having the time that far off would rive me bonkers!

  9. Well, similar to your house walking is my stair climbing. Max ignores me most of the time now, but for the longest time he’d try to run up & down with me. Totally NOT safe, for either of us LOL

  10. The picture in my mind of you walking loops around the house, with the dogs following you is pretty funny!
I think the question of when to run outside again will answer itself... you'll have a beautiful spring day and suddenly decide you HAVE to be out there. It won't be too much longer!

  11. It is hard to find motivation to run outside when the weather is crappy. I did it but it was not easy. Finally we have some weather and the snow is melting. Go for it! I do have a Fitbit that I do not use anymore. I am pretty sure it is this one: https://www.kohls.com/product/prd-3870437/fitbit-versa-2-smartwatch.jsp?color=Black%20Carbon%20Aluminum&prdPV=5

  12. Spring is just around the corner so I don't blame one bit for holding out for nice weather at this point! With all of the snow and ice, outdoor running was certainly a challenge this winter. Good job on getting your steps done indoors - movement is movement, right?

  13. How adorable that you take Willow on leash walks inside your house. What a great way to train her!

I love my Fitbit Alta (it's very basic). I think it's discontinued, but I bet you could find a refurbished one on Amazon.

  14. I have a couple of old Garmins I could send you. I have to make sure I still have their chargers. My husband keeps me up on technology otherwise my phone would probably be old too.
My dog would think I was crazy if I tried to walk her on a leash in the house. Lol.

  15. Last year I got myself the FitBit Inspire HR which I really like and is pretty simple. I had an Alta before that and that worked well too.

If the weather is warm now I say go for it now! Spring still feels so far away lol!
