5 Things February- Febraury Wrap Up

Wow, What a month it has been! I suppose this is the last "official" month of Winter, right?

This is the most "wintery" February we've had in a long time.  I can remember in the past there would be a few days were I could run in short sleeves.  I do like Winter but I will be looking forward to Spring too. I do think that as we get older we appreciate each season for what it is

Since February was a short month, let's go with 5 Things that I remember.

We started the month with a three day work week. No school on Monday and Tuesday due to snow! I don't care how old you are, you are always excited about work closing due to snow!

I've been killing it in the kitchen lately! It all started with some homemade chicken wings I made on Super bowl Sunday (and the rest on Monday). I got an amazing recipe from Pinterest and plan on making it again! I've been really into creating recipes and meal prepping. I've made breads, cupcakes (the Valentine cupcakes above), and other recipes. Does anyone remember back in the day when bloggers use to do the WIAW ( What I Ate Wednesday) posts?  I'm thinking of bringing that back. Maybe I'll make some highlights in my IG stories! I just need to work on my food photography skills!

On Valentine's day weekend we decided to make our own fun and take a ride up to the mountains. When we got up there we saw the trails were still covered in snow ( deep snow) and decided not to go further. I asked my husband if he thought we would get stuck and he said "no, we have 4 wheel drive" but he said he saw snowmobile tracks and he didn't want to ruin someone's fun if we drove our truck through them.  As we turned around, we passed a parking lot that had about forty trucks and trailers. He wasn't kidding, tons of people were using these mountain trails to snowmobile on. We even passed a few.  It's a good thing we didn't go any further because a snowmobile may have ran into us!

We decided to do our drive/sight seeing somewhere else. And on a side note,  The next day it was discovered that a body was found right on the side of the road where we were driving.  If you care to learn more about this story you can read the article in PEOPLE HERE.

Our Sybie is still having an itching problem. We switched her food to prescription food like the vet suggested, we've been washing her with a special shampoo the vet recommended, we even got a hypo-allergenic comforter for our bed, and yet she still itches!  I hope we find a solution soon!

And because I can't think of anything else I want to report on for the month of February right now, I will ask you to stay tuned to our blog throughout this month. Lacey and I have been able to get away for a few days and have some excited Travel Posts coming up!

Have a great weekend!   Do you have any food photography tips? Do you like reading about what people eat?  -M

I'll also be linking this post up with Coco and Deborah for their Coffee Date!

  1. Yes yes yes I want to read what other people are eating! Apart from the fact that I'm nosy, I need more food ideas! The photography is always a struggle, especially this time of year when it's dark so all of my breakfast and dinner photos look like I'm living in a cave. My favorite part about snow days is how happy they make my stepsons. The only time I've seen them happier is on Christmas morning.

    1. Haha, it's not nosey, it's just being curious what other people make. I'm the same way, always looking for new ideas or a way to adapt a meal!

  2. Looks like my comment disappeared! I shared that Cocoa struggles with allergies--she takes a prescription ($$) allergy medicine daily and sometimes the vet has to top it off with an injection. Her allergies most likely contribute to her ear issues. Poor pup!

    1. Hmmm, that's interesting because during the time Sybie was seen for the itching, she also had an ear infection that we did not know about. That healed up but the itching did not. What is the name of the medication Cocoa is on? I also know another lab that would get these injections. I hate that she has such problems at such a young age!

  3. I want to hear food photography tips! Sometimes I'll think about talking about meals in my blog posts, but the pictures always look so terrible, I give up on it. Speaking of food, you've got some nice cupcake decorating skills!

    1. We actually already had her on Zyrtec allergy medicine. I guess the next step will be to do the allergy tests. I'm really hoping that as the seasons change it might calm down for her a bit!

  6. Oh, I feel bad for your little sweetie. I hope things get better for her. Our February was crazy cold! It’s usually the coldest in January, but not in 2021. Hoping the worst is behind us :-)

    1. Same here! We usually get a cold snap in January and February is pretty mild, but not this year. I'm hopeful that maybe Sybie's itching is a seasonal thing and it will calm down in the spring...Hopefully!

  9. Those cupcakes look amazing! I’m sure I have some old WIAW posts on my blog. I think those types of posts gravitated to IG and then turned into posts about every meal. I have not been in a cooking mood — but I always enjoy baking.

    1. Thanks Marcia! We've tried so much stuff that I'm holding out hope that it is a seasonal thing and maybe by Spring/Summer it will go away!

  12. I do remember WIAW too!

Poor Sybie. We use homeopathic drops for Bandit that help. It's by HEEL, I think, and it's call HotSpots. You can get it on Amazon. I wish I could get to the bottom of it, but he was getting hotspots before we started to use that, and has had only one very minor one since he's been on it.

Oh no on the body! Creepy!

  13. What???? You MADE those cupcakes? I thought they were professionally done. They look so good.

Poor Sybie! I hope the itching problem resolves itself soon. we had a dog with that once, and when we switched his food, it cleared up.

  14. Yum on those cupcakes! Poor dog that he is still itching. I also hope you get some answers too.

  15. I remember those WIAW posts! Funny how so many of those themed day posts went away. I have been cooking a lot more too, but my food photo skills are terrible LOL!

Poor Sybie! I hope you find a solution soon!

  16. WYAW sounds great! I definitely think you should bring that back here or on IG, although I like here because then I can pin it for later. Poor Sybie! That sounds awful and also frustrating that you haven't been able to figure it out. Maybe once the new diet kicks in, it'll feel better. Here is to hoping that spring is coming early this year, we need some good things in our lives. :) Happy Sunday.
