March Runfessions

As we start off with this Runfession post, I have to confess/runfess most of my picture files have disappeared from my computer! I only noticed this as I was composing this post. I have no stinking clue what is going on, so I apologize this post is going to be light on photos.  Okay, let's get into some Runfessions!

I Runfess that I actually did it, I finally got a new Fitness Tracker. I was so hesitant because I only really wanted it for fun and to track steps. None of the other data tracking really mattered to me and I still have a Garmin for my running.  I ended up getting the Fitbit Inspire 2 and thanks to a generous gift card I got from one of my students it practically covered the cost!

Fitbit Inspire 2

I Runfess that I have only had the Tracker for one week and every single day so far I have reached or exceeded 10,000 steps!  Do you remember me saying in a previous post how it was such a challenge for me to get those 10,000 steps in each day? Well, I haven't really been going out of my way to do much different and I'm getting those steps in. It is making me wonder how "off" my old fitness tracker really was.

I Runfess that as much as I rave about how much I love my Nordic Track Treadmill and Bike, I am a little disappointed in Nordic Track right now. You see, my old Fitness Tracker was from Nordic Track and when I noticed the app was no longer available I called them. Well, my tracker was messing up and I had no way to get into the app to adjust it because the app apparently is no longer supported.  Not only is the app for the fitness tracker no longer supported, the module that I used to use for the treadmill ( and bike) to download all those great runs ( and rides) like the ones through Central Park or over the Golden Gate Bridge, yea, that is no longer supported either.

I Runfess that this news makes me kind of sort of want to get one of the new fancy Nordic Track Treadmills that have all the cool apps already downloaded on it.  But I know I won't because my current Nordic Track treadmill is perfectly fine. I doesn't need those apps to run  since that was just an add on bonus I use to pay extra for anyway. It's probably better that they got rid of that feature because there are so many free apps out there to use. The only downside is that the free apps don't automatically sync with the treadmill when it comes to inclines and declines.

So yea, all this said  and I probably won't even be on the treadmill or bike for a while now that the weather has been absolutely perfect for running/walking outside!

Do you have a Fitbit? I hear that you can connect with friends, do you want to connect? -M

Thanks to Marcia for opening up the virtual Runfessional!

  1. I runfess that I don't track my steps! I'm sure there are days that I don't even get close to 10k. But I make up for it on run days right?

  2. ^^^what Wendy said. I guess I "track" my steps on running days when I hit 20,000 without even trying and ignore my steps on rest days.

Normally I run in the mornings, but we're having a wind storm today so I runfess that instead of using the treadmill I'm going to wait and run later in the afternoon.

  3. My Garmin tracks steps, but I only reach 10K if I go for a run. Bummer on the NordicTrak apps. Glad the hardware still works. My old treadmill is pretty basic, but it does the job!

  4. I don't track my steps bd I get annoyed if that it doesn't count cycling or strength training. Enjoy your new tracker!

    1. I use to wear my old fitness tracker on my ankle when I would bike and it would actually count those as steps.

  5. I used to have a FitBit but somewhere along the line I stopped using it so I no longer track my steps. Crazy how far off your old one was. That's too bad about your NordicTrak apps. Thanks for linking!

  6. Do you have iFit on your treadmill or is that the newer one? Thats what I have. Its been working pretty well but my wifi in my basement gets spotty so that messes it up sometiemes. I really want to figure out a way to watch Netflix while I run but for now the iFit and podcasts will do.

    1. Yes, it is an iFit. Even when the app was supported I often had trouble with the module!

  7. That's too bad about Nordic Track. That's always so frustrating!

Nope, no fitbit. That's why I like my Vivoactive -- it's GPS & fitness tracker in one. How weird that the old app was apparently so off for you!

    1. Although my Fitbit will track miles as well, I'll probably still wear my Garmin to run!

  8. I have the Fitbit Inspire as well and really like it! But I can't remember the last time I had back to back days with 10,000 steps if I wasn't running!

    1. Glad to hear that you really like the Inspire. It's really motivated me so far but probably because it's still new!

  9. Wow! Yay for your generous student!!! I usually got gift cards for Starbucks! :) I used to have a fitbit, but I don't know where it is. I have to search for it!

    1. Yes, that family has been very generous to me over the years. I do get Starbucks gift cards too and appreciate those just as much!

  10. I don't track my steps either. I'm outdoors, usually walking every day (when I'm not running), so I'm not concerned if I'm getting enough steps or not. I'm on my feet at work, as well, and let's not forget all of my stair-climbing LOL

    1. I'm sure you would exceed 10,000 steps each day if you wore a Fitness tracker!

  11. That is a bummer about the pictures. I hope you can retrieve them. I don't wear a Fitbit anymore. Too much pressure for me. :-)

  12. that fitbit is gorgeous! I used to use fitbit back in the day when I first started running in 2009. I eventually moved to a garmin tracker and now am on the Vivofit 4S. it does all the things my 735x was doing it's just prettier - ha! I don't get 10K steps per day without trying though so well done on that!!

bizarre that NT has retired it's app!! I mean, there must be more users who are now left out in the cold??? You could sell your 'mill and get the new one if it really came down to it. Some people like my husband don't care about the running visuals and just binge on netflix while running.

  13. Love that FitBit!

How odd of Nordic Track to discontinue its app. It seems like now would be the time for it to really thrive! But what do I know.
