Travel Tuesday ~ Ft Lauderdale

I decided to do a "Travel Tuesday" today since I had a quick trip down South last week! Here's a brief recap and some pictures. Enjoy!

After spending a lot of time up North (where it was in the single digits with snow on the ground). I decided to get away to some place a little warmer (Unfortunately it wasn't Disney, where some of our friends were running the Marathon).

I went to the beach in Fort Lauderdale!  Here the sun was shining and the temperature was in the 80's. It was so relaxing laying out by the beach soaking up the sunshine for the afternoon.

We even had a quick bite at the tiki hut for lunch. Later that night we went down town for some shopping and dinner.

Afterwards we found this fun dueling piano bar. You could practically request any song new or old and they knew it. It was good time! I even got a few good runs in the warm weather while I was down there.

It was a fun little get away to beat the cold weather. I picked the perfect week to go away because by the time I arrived back home, it was so nice out that I could wear shorts and a t-shirt for my run. This was nice because I haven't done a long run since before the holidays. I hope the weather stays like this. Better weather makes it much more motivating to want to get up and run, but unfortunately I think it's suppose to cool back off again at the end of the week. Enjoy it while it lasts!

What motivates you to get out and run when the weather isn't quite as nice as you'd like?

    1. I remember we had a "Heat" warning last year during Disney Marathon weekend. I hope it wasn't too bad for you all this year!

  3. It looks like you had an amazing time! I am starting to slowly sink into the winter blues! We have only had 2 good days of "spring-like" weather to run outside. This week it is freezing and I don't know how I am going to run!! I know winter has only begun but I am already for spring! :) :)

  5. Looks nice and balmy! We don't get too many bad days here, but I hate wind and spring can be very windy. I just try to shut off the negative nancy voice in my head that is whiny and just go through the motions till I find myself just running. I give myself permission to stop if it gets "really bad" but I never usually do. :)

  6. Upcoming races motivate me like the half marathon I'm training for now. Sounds like a nice, warm getaway!

    1. Yes, that's one thing we have going for us. We have quite a few races on the schedule to keep us going!

  7. I love looking at the sunny pictures! :) We have about 6 inches of snow and we are in the negatives right now. I get motived to run by knowing if I put in a good workout in the winter months racing time (spring/ summer /fall) will pay off!

    1. Brrrr.... I hope you stay bundled up! That's a good way of looking at it! I've read about your runs, you are a snow warrior!

  8. Looks like you had an awesome time!! It's currently really cold here and we are waiting to get another snow storm. Staying motivated can be tough, but I am training for a marathon now, so I won't miss a run. If I can't go outside, I will run on the treadmill. I just tell myself, I can meet my goals if I miss a training run. That usually works well for me!

  11. Fort Lauderdale is beautiful! So glad you had a great time :) It's cold in my neck of the woods in Florida...and by cold I mean 60s. Getting back into my jammies after a hot shower on a cold day is what motivates me to get out and run :)
