Since the WDW Marathon is this weekend, it finally hit me that I better get my butt in gear and start working on my costumes/outfits for the Princess Half Marathon weekend. That weekend will be here before we know it!
And so since we will not be participating in the WDW marathon this year ( but you can read about our time at the 2013 WDW Marathon HERE) I thought it was a perfect time to get started with my sewing ( not too mention the weather has been very conducive to staying indoors lately).
This is what I have come up with so far.
If you remembered my race costume from Wicked this past year, you may remember some of these pieces. Yup, I recycled them. The "Cinderella" is actually a patch. This way I can take it off and use the shirt over again for another costume. And I was please with the skirt that I made for Mickey's Jingle Jungle 5k race, so I made this one in blue the same way. I thought about getting a tiara to wear, but then thought I would wear my blue Run Disney Sweaty band instead, since I hadn't wore that in a race yet! I'll be wearing this outfit for the Royal Family 5k race!
I'll be running in Pink for the Enchanted 10K.
So there you have. This is my progress so far. Lacey is working on a pretty cute costume as well, and I think my mom is working on one too, so I'll have more pictures to post as the month goes on!
What projects are you currently working on?
*I'm linking this post up with Deb from Focused on the Magic ( sorry I am a bit too Wordy).
The theme this week is "Show Your Disney Side"
Those are adorable!! I finished up costume #1 (Anna) for Tink weekend and I just need to tweek costume #2 (Vanellope) and I'll be ready!
ReplyDeleteThanks Summer! Your outfits sound great! Did you post pictures?
ReplyDeleteSo cute! My costumes are coming together....... just need to put together a little something more. LOVE running in character!
ReplyDeleteLoved your costume for Wine n Dine. Can't wait to see what you come up with for PHM!
DeleteAhh so cute! A Run Disney race has to go on my bucket list just so I can wear an awesome outfit like yours :)
ReplyDeleteI agree Amanda! You should definitely do a Run Disney race!
DeleteI love the costumes! I've ran in a tutu for two races and it was super fun. I can't wait to see your pics!
ReplyDeleteThat pink skirt will be my most "tutu" like skirt i'm running in! It will only be for a 10K though so I hope it works out!
DeleteLOVE THEM!!!! I'm having my mom help me a bit with mine as I'm horrible with sewing!
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen! I can't wait to see what you come up with. Do you already have something planned?
DeleteYep, I'm working on it! Not finished as I've bought about 5 shirts (that have not all arrived)...hard to find Cindy blue! LOL
DeleteLove them!!! OMGSH I almost died when I saw the Cinderella costume! After this weekend, the next Disney race I run I am wearing a costume!
ReplyDeleteAww, thanks Elizabeth! I am definitely no seamstress but I did the best I could while trying to spend the least amount of $!
DeleteGirl I know what you mean! It hit me that Princess is right around the corner and I haven't started on my costumes yet! Eeek! Yours are super cute! Love them!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you have planned Karen!
DeleteSo cute! You should definitely make the pink one an Aurora costume!
ReplyDeleteI think that's what it will eventually become. I just need to find the right top to embelish. I don't think this one is the right one!
DeleteI love them! Love the pink costume... pink is my favorite color (as I'm sure you could tell from all the pink on my blog). I'm not sure I'm running in costume. I'll probably pick a little mermaid theme again this year and just wear the color scheme of the little mermaid. Last year, I wore a purple tank and green shorts. Not creative, but I was comfy!
ReplyDeleteI won't be in full costume either for the half, just wearing the colors like you. I want to make sure I am comfortable!
DeleteCute! I've never run in a costume but it looks so fun!
ReplyDeleteIt's just as much fun to make them too!
DeleteSo cute!! I love the pink costume and it looks comfortable too! Looking forward to seeing pictures of your race!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Deb! And thanks for the Link up!
DeleteWhat great race costumes! I have to admit, the costumes are part of why I want to start running... :-)
ReplyDeleteYes, I love themed races! Definitely an excuse to dress up!
ReplyDeleteBoth the outfits are super cute!!! love them
ReplyDeleteThanks Hildy! We have a few more to work on too!
DeleteGreat costumes! I also just realized I have to get working on my costume for the Enchanted 10k. I'm doing a Belle costume!
ReplyDeleteWe have a yellow skirt that we are hoping to use as a Belle costume too!
DeleteI love your Disney Side, I am trying to get my husband to do a runDisney race.
ReplyDeleteI hope he does get to do a Disney race with you Judy!
DeleteOh wow, look how crafty you are! I made some potpourri for Christmas...it didn't really smell like anything, that is the extent of my craftiness! Haha
ReplyDeleteAww, thanks Sarah. These outfits are very simple compared to what I've seen others create, it's amazing!
DeleteOMG! those are sooo cute! I wish I can do a disney run someday! I wanna run in costumes! :)
ReplyDeleteDisney actually has several races through out the year. I think every runner should experience at least one!
DeleteSo much pink, I love it!
ReplyDeleteCan you tell that's my favorite color?
DeleteThese are great and creative. I'm a sucker for pink stuff :) Good luck with the race!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary!
DeleteThose are fantastic! I love it when people dress up - makes it more magical!
ReplyDeleteWe didn't always dress up but always appreciated seeing those costumes on race day!
DeleteLove both of them and can't wait to see them in action!
ReplyDeleteThanks April. I'll have to make sure I take a spin around the block to see how they work for me first!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Very pretty!
