I knew this would be the first thing I would put in my Blender Bottle!
If you have started this year off as a "Clean Eater" or "Vegan" or "Gluten Free", than these shakes are for you! Actually, I haven't committed myself to any of these eating styles, and I still enjoyed the Shakes.
They come in a variety of yummy flavors including:
French Vanilla
Chocolate
Natural ( not sure what that would be like)
Vanilla Chai
Berry
I am participating in the #OneChange campaign and was lucky enough to get sent the French Vanilla ( my favorite flavor)!
The packet is to be mixed with a cup and a half of water, juice, or non dairy product. I used my Vanilla Almond milk ( see told you I liked vanilla). And you can also mix it in your favorite smoothie as well.
I actually did not eat lunch this day ( this happens quite often), so this shake was a substitute for my meal. But that's okay because look at what all you are getting in this shake.
The next day I decided to make a shake in my Magic Bullet. This time I added frozen peach slices, half vanilla almond milk and half orange juice.
I think I prefer to use the #VegaOne in frozen drinks like this one! Even though I put peaches and orange juice in my drink, I'm thinking it came out green because the #VegaOne is plant based. Even though I added other flavors to my smoothie, it did not over power the vanilla flavor and I could still taste it throughout my drink which I enjoyed.
As part of the #OneChange #VegaOne campaign, we were asked to pick a persona that we best relate to. Since I said that I often skip lunch, I picked the Serial Snacker. Which one do You relate to. ( See descriptions below)
- Breakfast Skipper: You don’t have to sacrifice nutrition to fit it all in. You hit the ground running every morning, prepping and planning for your day on the way out the door. Wilting at your desk by 10 AM, you kick yourself for missing breakfast. As you reach for your third cup of coffee to get you through, you wonder who the heck has time for breakfast when you’re already skimping on sleep to fit it all in.
- Serial Snacker: Yes, you can snack and feel good about giving in. Your stomach talks to you all day (it never shuts up!) Your bag or desk drawer is strategically stocked with a wide assortment of get-me-through-to-the-next-meal morsels. You struggle to turn down a slice of office birthday cake—hungry or not. And the 3 PM growlies can lead to pre-dinner nachos or a midnight snack over the kitchen sink.
- Number Cruncher: All calories are not created equal—make them count, nutritionally!Less is more, right? So you keep score of everything you eat, as you eat it, on an app on your smartphone. Food and exercise are the columns on your weekly balance sheet, and you’re an expert strategist when calculating how to make up for every indulgence.
- Weekend Splurger: Don’t skip the party—just party smarter. Your best healthy-eating intentions crumble without the structure of Monday to Friday. By Sunday night, you feel like you need a weekend to recover from your weekend. Between late nights, sleeping in, social outings with friends, and catching up after a busy week, it seems impossible to eat right. Monday is your day to reset the dial.
I did not get to try one of these yet, but I hope too soon. I bet they are delicious.
* The shake mixes are formulated by Brendan Brazier, professional Ironman triathlete and bestselling author on performance nutrition, Vega One Nutritional Shake is free from dairy, gluten and soy, and contains no added sugar, artificial flavors, colors or sweeteners.
I was asked to participate in this #OneChange campaign with Vega One. I received a free box of Vanilla Vega One Nutritional Shake Mix but all opinions are my own.
Which Persona do you most identify with?
Do you use Nutritional Shakes on a regular basis? If so, which ones?
Do you make smoothies?
I'm definitely the weekend splurge!
ReplyDeleteI can see how it would be easy to splurge on the weekends!
DeleteI like to make smoothies and even posted about it today on my blog! I'm more of a number cruncher - inputting what I eat at MyFitnessPal. I haven't had the chance to try Vega One, but I'd like to. How fun that you received some free products!
ReplyDeleteI'll definitely stop by and check out your smoothie recipe!
DeleteI keep *meaning* to make smoothies, but never take the time. I'd like to get better about this because it's such an easy way to get loads of good stuff in your body!
ReplyDeleteI need to be more creative with mine. I haven't tried adding any veggies yet!
DeleteThese look yummy!! I have heard about these before but never knew exactly what it was. Thanks for the post! :) I would have to identify with the number cruncher, it kinda drives me nuts! I love smoothies, this seems like a great mix to add for some healthy nutrients!
ReplyDeleteYea, I really like the vanilla flavor because you can add it to almost anything and it would still taste good!
DeleteLooks pretty good, do they give you the calorie content?
ReplyDeleteYup, one pouch adds 135 calories to your drink. This includes 15g of protein, 6g of dietary fiber (which is great) and much more good stuff!
DeleteI am DEFINITELY a weekend splurger. It's so bad. I don't ever make nutritional shakes because I don't really like protein powder, but I definitely make smoothies. I just use Greek yogurt as my protein base.
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely a serial snacker! I love Vega because it helps to fill me up and keep me focused on long days around campus! Thanks for sharing your recipe. I'm definitely going to have to try it out! #sweatpink <3
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it Rebecca! I've seen some really great recipes I'd like to try with it!
DeleteOh yum I've been wanting to try those! I am pretty much every one of those things except for a breakfast skipper, so I guess that means I REALLY need to check it out :)
ReplyDeleteYou could definitely find a way to incorporate this powder in your breakfast. I'm thinking I might try it in my oatmeal. What do you think?
Deletethe french vanilla is my favourite, too! i love peach, so delicious - i took my powder and made protein balls.
ReplyDeleteI saw your recipe! That is SO creative!
DeleteI am not a big smoothie/protein shake drinker...but I sort of want to be! These sound delicious!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big protein shake drinker either, but adding the powder makes my smoothies a little better!
DeleteCan I be all of them?! Haha. I'm most definitely a serial snacker, a sometimes breakfast skipper AND a weekend splurger! :) I haven't tried their shakes, but I've had their smoothies and I really enjoyed them!
ReplyDeleteYea, I think I'm a little bit of all four too!
DeleteI LOOOOOVE the vega one bars!! I'm more prone to use their regular Vega powder than the one in my smoothies. I am definitely the snacker! Better when I get all my veggies though.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you like the bars! I hope to try them soon!
DeleteI am definitely a number cruncher Sunday - Friday, but Saturday's I am a weekend splurger :0) I justify it as my post long-run reward lol
ReplyDeleteYes, you deserve to splurge after your long runs!
DeleteThanks for sharing, the shakes look yummy!!
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely a serial snacker. I'm always eating or "grazing" as my friends say!
I'm a bit if a "grazer" myself. Probably because I skip meals!
DeleteSo funny - I literally have another tab open on my computer checking out Vega products. I bought a Energizing Smoothie powder a few months back but I see they have so much more. I'm totally intrigued now!
