I have recently discovered Greek Yogurt ( well, it's been a few months now) but it's still new to me. I think everyone else has been on this bandwagon for quite a while, but since I am not a fan of regular yogurt, the sound of Greek yogurt didn't appeal to me. I wanted to like yogurt, I really did. With options like Boston Cream Pie, Key Lime Pie, Coconut Custard, and Peaches and Cream, the thought of a cup of yogurt sounded good. I think it's the consistency that I didn't like.
I only tried Greek yogurt because my husband got a coupon for it at the grocery store and decided to bring one home for me to try. I never thought I would like it, but I was pleasantly surprised.
I eat so much of it now that I like to buy it in the larger containers instead of the single serve cups. The only problem I've found with this is that every time I pull the larger container out of the fridge, I have to pour the liquid off the top of it. I like my yogurt as thick as possible.
I've experimented with a few different brands of Greek Yogurt and I'm hoping to get some advice from you folks
These are a few that I've tried recently.
Besides The Thick and creamy Yoplait, I can't say I was a fan of any of these. And I don't like the ones with the fruit on the bottom.
I recently bought this Simply Balanced brand because it was on sale at Target. This is awful! It was not thick and it was suppose to be vanilla flavored but I didn't taste any vanilla at all.
I'm actually going to say that this Wal-mart brand is the best that I have tried so far. It is the thickest I've had and I can definitely taste the vanilla flavoring.
As far as non Greek Yogurts, there are two that I enjoy ( probably because of their consistency).
Yoplait Whips. Now this, I thoroughly enjoyed. The chocolate flavor is my favorite and it tasted just like chocolate mousse. I could eat 10 of these in a row!
I also liked what use to be called Yoplait Simply. It had a gold foil top instead of the traditional silver. This was very hard to find. In fact, only one grocery store in my area would carry it and I only ever saw it in the vanilla flavor ( But that's okay because that's my favorite. I'm boring like that) . I can no longer find that kind of yogurt but I see now that my local stores carry the Thick and Creamy by Yoplait. I bought this once and it was good. I wonder if this is what replaced the Simply version.
What is your favorite Greek Yogurt? Can you recommend a good thick brand to me?
