If you've ever booked a Disney World vacation as a "package", then you may have gotten a little booklet with "Magical extras". It's sort of a coupon book that gives you some discounts for Disney Springs, and tickets for free rounds of golf at any of the Disney property mini golf courses. As of right now, Disney has 4 mini golf courses Fantasia Gardens, Fantasia Fairways, Winter Summerland ( the Winter course) and Winter Summerland ( the Summer course).
We have played at Fantasia Gardens several times, but today we played at Fantasia Fairways. Fantasia Gardens and Fantasia Fairways are located in the same place.
The course is located behind the Disney Dolphin hotel ( and across the parking lot from the Swan Reserve). It is with in walking distance from any of the Disney Boardwalk resorts ( Boardwalk Inn, Yacht Club, Beach Club, or Disney Swan).
Fantasia Gardens is your typical mini golf course. It's 18 holes and you hit the colorful ball to the hole amongst some sort of obstacle, be it a windmill, or some other whimsical structure that's in the way.
The Garden course and the Fairway course both open at 10:00 am. We walked here from the Disney World Dolphin resort and got here at 10:22am. It's barely a 5 minute walk from the Dolphin. There was a bit of a line when we got here to check in, but we didn't have to wait long. There is one line for both courses. You can decide which course you want to play on when you check in.
If you have a coupon, you will just hand it to the cast member for your admission. These coupons are also on your "My Disney Experience" app and the cast member will scan the bar code from your phone.
If you do not have a coupon, green fees for adults are $19 ( for either course) for adults, and $12 for children ages 3-9.
There are 18 holes here, and just like on the Gardens course, these holes are named. ( The Swan Reserve is the building in the background)
Just because this isn't the "whimsical " course doesn't mean there aren't fun Disney details!
Around hole #5, we had to stop for this bird to pass through. This was a first for us on a mini golf ( or any golf) course! As we were finishing up with this hole and making our way to the next, we heard these girls telling others in their party that Mickey Mouse was at this hole. We didn’t really understand what they were talking about until we looked closer and saw a dead mouse near the green!
There is a water fountain here on the course and it has a bottle filler for those who bring their own water bottles.
Half way through the course there is a beverage station/vending machine.
Although it was more challenging, this course was a nice change of pace from the typical mini golf course.
It felt more relaxed and I didn't feel rushed.
Some of the holes were rather tricky, but luckily neither one of us ended up hitting our ball into the water.
According to my time stamps on photos and videos, we started at 10:30 am and finished up at noon. We only had two people in our party and it took us an hour and a half, so be sure to set at least that much time aside to play this course! The Fairway course is open from 10:00 am till 9:00 pm. The Gardens course is open from 10:00 am till 10:00 pm.
We can now say we've played both courses here at Fantasia Gardens/Fairways, and have played footgolf at Disney's Oak Trail course. Now we need to get over to Winter Summerland and play on those courses!
