December Coffee Date

December is finally here! Aren't we all just ready to put this year behind us?

I 'm joining the virtual coffee date with Deborah and CoCo.

So let's catch up.  Here are a few random things I would tell you over coffee.

If we were having coffee I would tell you how thankful I am for the glorious weather we had in  November. It was perfect for running and hiking! The quantity of my runs may not have been great, but the quality of them were.

If we were having coffee, I'd tell you about a random lady that makes me smile every day on my way to work.  Once I leave my housing development, there is a house on the corner that has a Trump 2020 sign ( yes, it is important to my story that I tell you that).  I do not know anything about the lady that lives here, nor does she know me, where I live, or what my political affiliation is. She only knows me as the lady in the white car.  However, every day, she stands with her son out in front of their home waiting for the school bus and she chooses to wave and smile at me.  In a country where people seem to be so divided I think this is a true testament that you can have strong political views and still be friendly to everyone!

If we were having coffee I would tell you that I put up my Christmas trees the weekend before Thanksgiving. I was up till 3 am decorating and watching Hallmark movies! Every year I stick with a theme color for my big tree. The past few years it has been teal and silver. This year I must have been feeling nostalgic because I put colored lights on a tree that was already pre-lit with white lights, and then I went and put all the different colored balls on it! It's the most colorful tree I've ever decorated and it makes me smile when I look at it.

If we were having coffee I would tell you that I am DONE Christmas shopping ( except for one gift for my Pappy).  I have never been done this early. I always have a few odds and ends to pick up the week of Christmas, not this year!

Finally, if we were having coffee, I would runfess to you that we are thinking of giving up the Friday link up in 2021. We will still be doing the blog, that wont' be going away but we'd like a little more freedom on when we post or not post and hosting a link up puts a little pressure on that, along with preparing the codes for the link up ( and to be honest, I've been getting these notices from Inlinkz  saying my account has been about to expire since April, every time I make a link up I cross my fingers that it works!)  As you may have noticed, we've missed a couple Fridays these past months and I apologize for those who have wanted to link up.  If you have a Inlinkz account and would like to co-host the Friday link up with us ( or even take over), please let us know.

Oh, and one more thing. Friday is the start of our community Winterfest! I am on the Winterfest committee and although we are not able to do as much this year because of social distancing and all that, we are having our tree lighting  and Santa's arrival.  After that, is one of our favorite activities, the late night shopping event. All the stores that participate usually have great treats and activities so I am wondering how things might be different this year. I bet no snacks and drinks will be left out.

Do you decorate before or after Thanksgiving?  Do you do a theme color for your tree?  How are you doing on your Christmas shopping?   -M

  1. Your tree is so pretty! I think I will put ours up this weekend. I have a mix of ornaments, so no theme except nostalgia! When we had a white tree I stuck with silver and green or blue balls. Thanks for joining us for coffee!

  2. I love your tree! I vary the ornaments some each year on my trees, but my Charlie Brown tree (a dead ficus tree, in my sun room, that got painted black) gets a different color scheme every year. It's a quirky "art piece" that adds a lot of charm to the room, and fills the corner space up well. That said, I need to finish my trees, and get the rest of the decorations up this weekend. ANd I agree, we all need to be kind to one another, despite our differences (political or otherwise) ;-)

  3. Our tree is more personal, with ornaments from places we've traveled and memories we've made! It's very emotional now when I decorate--the flood of memories is overwhelming!

I will miss your link up, but I sure understand! I keep thinking I'm going to give up the blog, but it's been a connection that I really cherish right now.

  4. I will definitely miss your link up. Maybe someone else can take it over.

Your tree is beautiful. I used to put up a tree when the boys were home. My hubby doesn't care and I am Jewish.

But I love to decorate. I have two tiny trees (so many unused ornaments - I used get them from my students). But I love snowman and they are everywhere.

    I decorated last Sunday.

    1. Yes, I am hoping someone will volunteer to take over the Friday link up as it is a great way to connect with like minded bloggers. I'd love to see your collection of snowmen!

  5. Your Christmas tree is so pretty! We don't have a tree yet, but I did put up our outdoor lights yesterday. Isn't the November weather wonderful? My husband has not worn long pants to run yet this year! I am wimpier than he is, so I have been wearing tights or capris for a while. I am so thankful for your link-up and would hate to see it go away, but I understand how it might tie you down. I am not sure if I would be eligible to co-host. I just have a free website. Thank you so much for hosting all of these months.

    1. You certainly would be eligible to Co-host! I have not worn pants on a hike or run either, but then I mostly go in the afternoons!

  6. Your tree is absolutely beautiful!!!!
You're done shopping? I'm so jealous. We just have so many people to buy for - it overwhelms me every year. I mean 8 grandkids alone... & 3 kids, their spouses, all the siblings, parents, nieces/nephews... plus, each other. I need a 2nd job :)

  7. Oh I can see where your shopping list could get quite overwhelming! You are a very good shopper though!

  8. I love the story about the woman with the Trump sign. It's good to be reminded that we can have different political views but it doesn't mean we have to hate each other!
Congratulations on your Christmas shopping! I'm nowhere near done :)

    1. I hate how people make assumptions of people because of their political affiliation and this lady is a great example of how she can be friendly towards anyone!
