12 Days of Christmas Gift Basket

Greetings! We got quite the snow storm here on the East Coast and I have to say I actually LOVE it!    Even though we are teaching virtually, school left out at 12:30 pm on Wednesday in anticipation of the storm, and was cancelled on Thursday, and Friday as well. Hello super long weekend!  All this snow makes it feel even more like Christmas!

In last week's post I mentioned I was creating a "12 Days of Christmas" gift basket for my neighbor. I shared some of what I did in an IG story and I got so many comments and questions on it that I thought I would share it here.

First thing I did was to come up with the gift tags. The whole purpose of these 12 gifts is that the clever little tags match the gift inside.  Keep in mind that these gifts can be fun and practical items.  Most of the ones I used can be found at the Dollar Store or Grocery Store.

I got some ideas for the sayings on the tags on Pinterest but I couldn't find some of the products that went with them, so I made a lot of the sayings up myself.

Here are the ones I used in case you'd like to make a 12 days basket or maybe just give one or two of theses gifts on their own.

Day 1 - Something for your Mistletoes - a bottle of toenail polish

Day 2 - We are nuts about you - a bag of mixed nuts

Day 3- Here Soapin you have a Merry Christmas- a bar of coconut verbena soap

Day 4- Hoping you are showered with love this holiday season - Shower fizzies

Day 5 - We were mint to be friends because you are a lifesaver - Mint lifesavers

Day 6 - You light up my life - a light up Christmas necklace

Day 7 - Just poppin by to say Merry Christmas - popcorn

Day 8 -Mele Kalikimaka is the thing to say on a bright Hawaiian Christmas day - Hawaiian air freshener

Day 9 - Hoping you have tidings of comfort and joy - Tide laundry soap

Day 10 - He's making a list and chexing it twice - Chex mix

Day 11- Hope your Christmas is merry and bright - Battery operated candles

Day 12 - Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year - a desk calendar

When I numbered my gifts I actually numbered them by date starting with the 13th through the 25th so I ended up with an extra gift.

Spread joy to the world- Almond Joy candy

                                                               The finished product!

My neighbor was so surprised when I brought this to her last Sunday. I included a card that told her each day she would open a gift that is labeled with that day's date. She should be opening her last gift on Christmas day!

I apologize that my pictures for this post aren't that great but I didn't intend on doing a blog post at first so all the pictures are actually still shots from the video. I shared on my IG story.

What are some creative gifts you have given over the years?  -M

There will be a blog post sometime next week but there will not be a link up since next Friday will be Christmas.

Will you be doing anything Christmassy this weekend?

  1. What an amazing, creative idea, Meranda! And it could easily be adapted to the 8 nights of Hannukah (tonight's the last night, though). I will definitely be squirreling this one away.

I once sent Mr. Judy 50 reasons I love him -- on his 50th birthday, naturally. My family thinks I'm creative, but really, not so much. Thanks for sharing this!

  3. That is so creative.

I may have to steal this and as Judy said, it could also be used for Chanukah.

  7. This is a great idea that I need to save for next year because the kids teachers will love it! Especially if they continue with distance learning.
