I USE to LOVE these running products, Now not so much.

Can you remember back to each time you got a new running gadget or piece of gear?  You probably thought that foam roller was the greatest thing since sliced bread and you wouldn't be caught leaving the house without your Garmin.

I am still fond of my foam roller and I always take my Garmin on my runs ( unless I forgot to charge it the night before), but I will now admit there are a few items I thought were ALL THAT, that honestly, I could care less about now.

1. I LOVED Sweatybands and all other brands of non slip headbands. I had Disney designs and designs for all the holidays. I matched them to my running outfit and to me, it was a way to add a little "style".  Looking back at some pictures of myself in said headbands, I realize I probably looked like I should have been in a "sweating to the 80's" video.  I'm thinking maybe that wasn't a good look for me.

2.  I also LOVED Running Skirts but they had to be from the brand RunningSkirts.com.  I loved the ones with the built in shorts but what sold me were the TWO pockets. I've worn these skirts to most of my Disney races. I thought they were cute, functional, and stylish.  But lately, I've been preferring shorts to skirts. I think it may be because I have gained a little weight over the years and I just don't like the way those skirts look on me. I feel they look best with fitted tank tops, and I prefer to run in the loose fit tanks instead.

3. I thought I was SUPPOSE to love Compression socks and sleeves because all the other runners loved them. I jumped on the band wagon and  I wore them for several races ( especially when I had IT band issues ( hoping it would help) and wore them for recovery.  I'm not sure they did anything for me. I didn't really like my toes being so cramped in the socks, and the calf sleeves were too tight for me ( as they should be).

4.  I LOVED the idea of the Camelbak hydration belt.  I actually won my first one in a contest from #RunChat.  I really did like it...for a while.  The truth is, even though it only held two short bottles, it was sort of heavy and I didn't like how it bounced around my waist. I don't use that anymore. If I'm being really honest, it probably doesn't even fit me anymore.  I should probably pass it on to my sister.

5.  I use to be so excited when I would do a race and I would get a tech shirt!  This lasted a good couple years, until I realized that those tech shirts weren't all that soft. The last several races I've run, including my triathlon,  I received race shirts that were cotton/polyester and I love them! They are the shirts that I reach for first when I want a shirt to wear around the house!

Are there any items you USE to love but don't really care for anymore?  -M

  1. I used to love skirts as well, but I'm preferring shorts these days. I agree with you...I think they look best with a more fitted top than a "loose" one (but that's my taste). I like my compression sleeves, but have never been much of a fan of the full socks due to the tightness in the toe area. I definitely can tell they help with recovery, but to this day cannot determine if they help me or not with performance...but they look good ;-)

  3. Yes. Lots. I used to wear pro compression socks. Now just calf sleeves.

Used to wear running skirts.com. Now love the pockets in skirt sports.

Changed my shoes so many times.

  4. I don't use my waist belt hydration packs anymore either. I found a great backpack style I love and never looked back. I had a compression sock things years ago and stopped wearing those too

    1. I like the idea of a backpack, but I don't know if I run that far to justify a hydration backpack...lol. My sister uses one though!

  5. I have about 5 different hydration belts in my closet, and I don't really like any of them. I started running my long runs in loops so I can stop and get a drink in between each loop, rather than have to carry water.

I don't wear skirts anymore either. Shorts just seem so much more comfortable to me.

I also used to wear Bondi bands but now I just put my hair up in a ponytail.

  6. I can't tell you how many things I went through when it comes to hydration! I loved all of them for a little while.

I still absolutely love my skirts, though (obviously). My body may have changed, and some don't fit quite like they used to (the weight has stayed mostly the same), but that's ok because there are still plenty I love to run in.

I have a lot of Sweaty Bands, too. I do like them, but I don't wear them as much as I used to either.

    1. I actually got the flip belt water bottles because you suggested them, and I still do like those, If I feel I am going far enough to carry water or it is really hot.

  7. I used to drink Nuun, until they changed the flavors. The last time I bought Nuun, I went with my go-to flvaors and they didn't taste the same :( I thought it may just be one tablet, but it was all of them. Now I just stick with Powerade.
