Join our Summer Challenge!

A very long time ago I found a $10 bill while out on a run.  It was laying on the sidewalk of a route I had never run before. To be honest, I was a little hesitant to pick it up and when I did I felt a little guilty that I took something that did not belong to me.  Had it been in front of  someone's house or driveway I would have taken it to that person's house.  Since this was just randomly laying on the sidewalk, chances are it could have belonged to anyone, and anyone was just as likely to pick it up, so why shouldn't I treat myself for a run that I didn't really feel like doing in the first place, right? Makes sense!

Since then,
I've seen other runners finding money on their runs, but I was never lucky enough to find anymore.  Most people find change here and there so perhaps I've reached my limit by finding $10 at one time.

Well, you know my sister and I are always up for a game so this summer we are playing #MoneyOnTheMove or as my mom called it #SummerSalary...haha.  From June 1 till September 1 we are keeping track of how much money each of us randomly finds on the ground as we are out and about.  So far I've found 26 cents at the car wash ( but that was last Saturday and our game did not officially start) and I know my sister found a few cents on our walk the other day.  However, we are starting from scratch on Saturday June 1.  Please join us! When you find change (or dollars) you can use the hashtags #MoneyOnTheMove or  #SummerSalary.  Be sure to share it with us  @Fairytalesnfit and @Lacers02.  I don't anticipate finding more than a few cents (if any), but I think the challenge will be fun.  Who's in?     -M

Thank you to all of you who are linking up for the Friday link -up!

  1. I found a $20 once and I kept looking for the string attached to it...lol. I do find random change and I pick it up. It's all in a cup on top of my dryer. I'll have to add it up. Great idea for a challenge!

  2. About a month ago I found a $10 bill, and a week later I found a $1 bill. I guess there was that random penny on Memorial Day, too...but it's been a little bleak since LOL

  3. I think it's harder to find money these days because people don't use cash as much. Last week I saw a man drop a $10 bill leaving the grocery store -- I caught up to him and gave it back of course.

    1. You are so right. I rarely find money because I run on the trail. I'm more likely to find it in a parking lot or someplace many people visit throughout the day.

  4. I have found several bills (I think a $20 and a $5) on the sidewalk, but none lately. I find coins pretty regularly. Just last night I dreamed about finding money on the sidewalk. What a coincidence! I'm in!

    1. That is quite the coincidence! You will definitely be thinking of finding change now on your next run!

  5. It's really rare that I find money -- and definitely never any bills. I think $.25 might have been a big haul for me.

Now, if I cared to dive into the couch cushions -- I could be a big winner, LOL, change is always falling out of Mr. Judy's pockets!

  6. .25 would be a big haul.for me too. I would never find money on the trail, but maybe in town on the sidewalks!

  8. Does it count money I find in my running clothes from last summer? LOL. Count me in! I've found about $10 in 20 years ;)

  9. I only seem to find change, but my husband found a $20 bill once - it was on the street outside of a frat house so he figured some drunk college kid dropped it and it was fair game! Your challenge sounds fun!

  10. Oooh how fun! My dad does this all the time as he is walking around. He texts me pictures of the change he finds, it's our little game. I will start keeping track!

  13. What fun! The most I have found running is a $5 bill about a year ago. I happen to be in Puerto Vallarta right now and coincidentally, my first time here in 2007 I found a $50 bill (US) on the ground outside of our resort. And a number of years ago, my middle son found $495 in cash wrapped in a rubber band with a driver's license while were were at Universal Studios. We took it back to our hotel and tracked the rightful owner down and returned it all. The owner was so grateful and rewarded us with a $100 gift card for Buca di Beppo! He said he thought it was all long gone given that it was cash, so he was happy to give us such a generous reward. A nice lesson for my kids, too!
