Body "Pump"kin Launch

Last night was my gym's Body Pump Launch. A few months ago our gym changed names to the YMCA. Since then, we have had new members from other local YMCA's coming to our facility and our class sizes have increased, so we added an additional express class prior to the main class in the evening.
All  decked out for our spooky themed launch!

Since it is a shorter class we follow the Body Pump Express 45 minute format.I think they make it more intense, because it is a shorter class where they combine two tracks into one. There is a Tricep/Bicep track and there is a lunge/shoulder track. Rather than a doing a Tricep only track and so on. We continue to move between bar, plates, pushups, so transitions are really quick which keeps us moving and the calories burning.

I do not usually teach the Express class so I decided to learn the Tricep/Bicep Track and the Lunge/Shoulder Track along with the Core and Cool Down. I felt this release was extra challenging, especially the Back Track. 10 clean and presses anyone?

If you have been following me you know that I have been making the most during my layover these past couple weeks. In addition to having fun I was trying to study the choreography and music for this Launch. I would practice it in hotel rooms and even onthe plane between flights. Hey what ever I had to do right?

We ended up having a great turn our for the Launch and even had a raffle at the end for a door prize. My friend made these mummy clementines for our members for after class.

Have you ever taken the 45 minute Body Pump Class? If so, what do you think of it? -L

We are linking up with the gals from TOTR.

  1. I think I took the 45 minute class a really long time ago when one of my gyms offered it. I always preferred the full hour one but this was a good option when I couldnt make it to that one.

  3. I love Body Pump. I have not been going to Body Pump for the last several weeks, because I was aftrad the lunges and squats were aggravating my hip injury. Now that my marathon is over, I am looking forward to going back. Yay!

  4. It's been a long time since I belonged to a gym, so I haven't done it. My friends who are gym rats are regulars, though.

  5. I used to love Body Pump! It's a great workout. The gym I use now doesn't offer it and most of my strength work I do on my own. Sounds like a successful launch!

  6. this is a Les Mills class right?? I love BodyPump but I've not done the 45 min class. I find the hour class quite challenging! I really love it though, in fact I'm going Thursday again and hopefully for a while at least one time a week now that "racing" (my speed is never racing hahaha) season is over for me for the year.

  7. Sounds like you had fun with the launch! I agree that back track is pretty tough. I take the 45 minute express class during the week and I agree that those combined tracks are intense. I prefer the 60 minute full class :)

  9. The Body Pump classes at my gym seem to be really popular. I've yet to try one because I always forget to sign up well in advance.
