Weekly Wrap.... February 18

Welcome to another edition of the Weekly Wrap!

Of course the biggest highlight of the week was Valentine's Day. Although I do feel like Valentine's day is a made up holiday just to boost the sale of frivolous items, I do think it's a fun day.  Of course I like that the candy is flowing on this day and you can't really feel guilty for having some!  I love making cards and putting little gifts together for friends and family.  Baylee and I usually make our Valentines but this year we didn't. Maybe next year.

At work on Wednesday we had a catered lunch and it was fabulous! This table is just a sampling of some of the desserts we had.  See those cupcakes in the corner? They were AMAZING!

When I got home, we had plans to meet friends for a Valentine's dinner. We were suppose to meet this same group of friends on New Year's Eve for a dinner party, but so many of us were sick we decided to re-schedule till Valentine's day.  We had such a good time and didn't end up leaving the place till  10 pm, that's late for me on a school night! Heck, who am I kidding, that's late for me any night...lol.

One of my holiday headbands from Race Day Headbands.
Even though there were a lot of treats consumed this week, I am really proud of the workouts I did.
I did Treadmill runs on Monday and Tuesday and an outdoor run on Thursday because it was so warm and then another treadmill run on Saturday.

I say this was a good week for me because I not only got in an extra run this week, but my legs were SO sore!  They weren't sore from pain or anything, but from stretching and strength training. I've really been doing more leg exercises and weight lifting lately. I'm not over doing it, but doing enough just to feel the burn!   -M

Do you acknowledge Valentine's day?  Did you add anything to your workout routine this week?

We are linking up with Holly and Wendy for their Weekly Wrap.

  3. My husband brought me flowers at work and we went to lunch. We don't go overboard for this holiday. That's a yummy spread of food. I'm a sucker for pretty cupcakes as they usually taste good too. I love that "little sore" feeling. Thanks for linking!

  4. That definitely sounds like a great week! We don't normally make a big deal out of Valentine's day since our anniversary is also in February but sometimes we do stuff. We did cards because being 3,000 miles apart makes date night a little difficult. lol

  5. It always feels good to me to be sore from a great workout! Any excuse to eat chocolate over here

  6. I also have mixed feeling about Valentine's Day and all the money that is spent....but I certainly appreciate when the flowers show up at my work desk (hypocrisy, anyone?) ;-) Yes, the muscle soreness is a good kind of soreness ;-)

  7. Well, yeah, I do acknowledge Valentines since it happens to be my birthday. I think Mr. Judy kind of wishes it weren't but he's stuck with it. No candies were consumed -- but chocolate dessert most definitely was.

  8. I didn't do anything for Valentine's Day other than check out a new vegan restaurant in Chicago. That and Olympics. My workouts this week were mostly on the treadmill so I was really sore too.

  9. It's hit or miss celebrating Valentines day for us because my birthday is on the 13 (which I totally even forgot to mention in my weekly wrap lol!). I'm on a really healthy eating kick so no sweets but we did have some wine. Looks like you had a great time celebrating! Love your headband!

  10. We have a quiet valentine's celebration -- cards, small gifts, and pizza delivery because it's not a good night to go out. I love your headband.

    1. Thank you. The headband came from Race Day Headbands on Etsy. We normally don't go out for Velentines day but our friends made the reservation back in January.

  12. I got in an extra run this week too. I love how happy it makes both of us ;) We don't usually acknowledge Valentine's Day beyond saying Happy...but this year my husband got me a sweet card.

  13. I'm feeling sore from my workouts too. It's a good feeling, but when I move, I'm reminded what I did. I don't celebrate Valentine's Day, but I did enjoy a couple pieces of chocolate at work.

  16. Sounds like you had a great week of both workouts and social activities. I'm with you, 10pm is now late for me on any night, especially a school night. I used to be a night owl, but that changed when little man was born and I'm now actually an early bird. I would have never thought that would happen.

    1. I like to stay up late on weekends just because I can, but I usually fall asleep watching TV. I like getting up early too. I love that extra time in the morning to accomplish things.

  17. I love that headband! We didn't do anything for Valentine's Day, but I was fine with that...feels like life has been too busy lately, so a low-key day was good.

We usually celebrate valentine's day the weekend after but with the grandkids up, we totally forgot :) haha

  20. Your dog is so cute! We usually cook a fancy dinner at home but this year landed on Hills & Stairs night so we spent Valentine's evening with our running group, running hills then drinking the beer.

  22. I do acknowledge Valentine's Day because as you say its a fun day and you can eat chocolates without too much guilt! What a fun day you had and a great week of training! What's that green thing in the last photo - some kind of resistance band?

  23. Great week! And I love that pup.

We do little treats and cards for Valentine's Day, but we don't usually go out or do anything too crazy. We are recovering from the holidays and lots of birthdays and events, so it's nice not to have pressure to do anything major.

  24. Did the PTO organize the catered luncheon for you guys? Our's does that sometimes and it's so awesome!
