Spring Fitness
Wow, I can't believe we are talking about Spring Fitness goals already! Don't get me wrong, I am certainly looking forward to Spring, and we actually got a preview of Spring weather this week!
However, I've been concentrating on some other things so I haven't given a lot of thought to what I want to do this Spring as far as fitness and running.
Here are just a few things that we have scheduled and some things that we are considering.
1. I have a St. Patrick's day race in March. This will be a "new to me race".
2. Lacey has a Marathon coming up in March. This will be a "new to her marathon". I think she may talk about this soon.
3. I'm headed back to the April Fools race in April. Last year I missed it in order to do the Hershey race. I'm looking forward to going back to AC. This is always a fun race! I think this will be my 5th year doing this race.
4. I am considering a half marathon in May. Right now I'm not in half marathon shape but I feel like once I know if I am running it or not, that might make me more motivated to run longer.
5. Regardless of which races we run or don't run, I'm looking forward to getting back out to running at my favorite park and trails.
I'm not really crazy about spring running because it just seems like a busy time of year and it's hard to really concentrate on running. I do look forward to summer running though. I know it's hot and humid, but I have more time in the summer to spend on the trails and by then I 'm pretty motivated. I guess we will see what this year brings!
What races do you have planned for Spring?

The warmer weather yesterday definitely got me excited for spring! I think spring races are tough because the weather is still so unpredictable. Hopefully you can get in a coupe of good races this spring!
ReplyDeleteYes, you are so right. It could be warm or we could be running in snow...haha
DeleteI too am running a St Patrick's Day Race--the Shamrock Shuffle is held at the end of March. It's a huge race in downtown Chicago. The last time I ran it was 20 or so years ago! LOLOLOL!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great time at your rAce. Can't wait to hear about it!
DeleteI actually have two St. Patrick's-themed races this year, one of which is a new-to-me event. I agree...spring is nice with the warm and fresh air, but it's such a mud fest!
ReplyDeleteWow, 2 race! Are they the same weekend? Have fun!
DeleteMy big spring race is the Cherry Blossom ten miler so I have been focusing on that and staying healthy!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great race for spring!
DeleteI'm doing the NYC Half again (sometimes winter and sometimes Spring weather), the Shamrock Shuffle like Wendy and prepping for a Memorial Day Marathon in California. I need to get on that one ;)
ReplyDeleteYay, for doing the NYC half! I loved that race and now I hear the course has changed so I'm looking forward to reading your race recap!
DeleteYesterday was in the 50s here, Im so ready for spring! But we have snow coming on Saturday....New England weather.
ReplyDeleteOh no! Not more snow. I think we might get rain down here!
DeleteWe also had a sneak peak at Spring weather this week and it was AMAZING! I sure hope it sticks around for a little while! :)
ReplyDeleteI am now wondering what you call spring weather? I guess I always assume your weather is always nice, a bit humid, but warm (of course that's when it isn't snowing..haha).
DeleteI just cant get my running mojo back in gear. I registered for a half marathon & havent even started training for it - I'm just skipping it. I debated signing up for the Color Run just to have a fun run to try & get my butt back in running gear... havent even done that. SIGHHHHHHH... send me some spring motivation please
ReplyDeleteHa, that's why I think it's a good idea to make the first race of the year a short one! It's so hard to get back in the groove after winter!
DeleteAfter Princess Weekend I'll be shifting my focus to training for a local half marathon in mid-April. When I originally signed up I was hoping to go for a PR at this race, but based on how my current training has been going I'm not so sure now. :(
ReplyDeleteI bet you are looking forward to Princess weekend! That's always a fun weekend of races!
DeleteI'm also running two races on St Patty's Day weekend this year - it should be fun! I really love themed races.
ReplyDeleteI saw my area has 3 St.Patty's day races. Maybe I'll put another one on my list...haha
DeleteThe weather is definitely the wild card for spring races. March is the snowiest month in Colorado, and we're barreling towards it. I missed some runs last year because of the snow, but now I'm prepared.
ReplyDeleteEven though it's nice here now, I predict we will get one more snowy day in March!
DeleteWow, that's really funny -- I LOVE spring running, but am not a fan of summer running, although it's a necessary evil for those fall races I love to do. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm more of a summer/ fall runner. I guess it's just hard to get back out there in the spring after having not run consistently over the winter.
DeleteI can't wait to see how your Spring season goes! You're going to do awesome!! I have a half marathon that's up in the air for now but either way, I'm hoping to get in a few 5ks and 10ks in the Spring! Bring on the sunny and warmer weather! :)
ReplyDeleteSpring is a good time to do 5k's and 10ks!
DeleteI have a BUNCH of trail runs penciled into my calendar. I hope I feel well enough and the weather is good so I can run them!
ReplyDeleteOur those scheduled runs or races? I hope the weather is good for you too. It's not fun running on a soggy trail!
DeleteRaces :) But I won't be "racing".
DeleteI'm right there with you. I don't think my next 10k will be a good time either but it will be fun. I think to just keep running constantly is a good goal to have, especially this time of year. Have fun at your race!
ReplyDeleteSpring running out here is the best, weather-wise! I have several races on tap, mostly 5Ks but one is a 5 miler, woohoo!
ReplyDeleteI love Spring running with the warmer weather and pretty flowers :). But the downside is that's when my allergies tend to act up. Sounds like you've got some fun races planned!
ReplyDeleteWow great race for the spring! Thanks for sharing your idea with us.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have some great races coming up!
