Can you believe it is the first Friday in April already? We can't. Earlier this week we were talking about how we saw snow and today it's a perfect spring day just as it should be! Since today is Good Friday, the theme for this week's Friday 5 is "Five Good Things"
Staying with the "good" theme, we thought we would feature a few items we like and maybe you will find some that you might like too.
1. Now that warmer weather is finally here it's time to give our feet a break from the boots we have been wearing all winter long. It's time to get a pedicure and show it off in the comfiest pair of sandals. Sanuk. They are made from yoga mats and your feet will thank you.
2. We got this Rock Sauce from the company that makes Rock Tape ( kinesiology tape). It's a topical heat cream for temporary relief of muscle aches and pains. You can definitely feel the heat when you lather it on and I want to say that it did give me a little relief, but then again there are so many factors when you are trying something new for pain. It could be that the sauce worked or it could be that my knee isn't as bad as it once was. I'm not sure. You can use this with or without the tape. Also, this stuff smells like those pink peppermint candies!
3. The last time I was at the chiropractor he gave me these wedges to put in my running shoes. The hope is that it will straighten my knees out while I run. They are sticky on the bottom and you put them under the insoles in your shoes. I'm anxious to try them out and see if they help with my problem.
4. Fruit infused water: We often buy frozen fruit and lately we've been using frozen melons and berries in place of ice cubes in our water. I personally love putting it in my blender bottle and giving it a few shakes. It makes for a very refreshing drink and helps us get our H2O in.
What are some things you've been enjoying lately?
Have a great weekend everyone and thanks for stopping by. L and M
I've never heard of Rock Sauce, sometimes those creams are pretty cool! Loving that hydration shampoo idea, that would be perfect for me in a marathon race, as my long hair gets pretty whipped and dried out by the end!
ReplyDeleteI hope your heal inserts work:) I noticed the shoes you had in the pictures are Altra running shoes, I believe those are zero drop. If you have a regular pair or running shoes, I'd stick the inserts in those instead. They will help a lot more when they aren't having to compensate for the lack of heel. My Specialist and PT separately both made me swear I would never run or work in low or zero drop shoes every again. (They are what caused my original work injury) Because apparently wearing flats is what causes most problems in runners and a lot of people. She even told me that people can run in them for years not noticing and slowly develop problems over time because of them. Maybe you already have, but ask your PT about it next time your in, especially if your still planning to run in a low or zero drop shoes, you just never know what can help! Especially if a change of show type could fix the knee problem once and for all:)
Everything you mention here is new to me! One of the things I have been loving lately is my new water bottle holder that holds my new larger cell phone although I still love my FlipBelt as well. Have yourself a super wonderful weekend!!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for pedicures and comfy sandals! Yay spring!
ReplyDeleteI love fruit infused water but never think to make it at home. One of my favorite lunch places serves it. My favorite comfy sandals are Oofos, they are amazing! Have a lovely Easter ladies!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to try that shampoo--I'm going to be spending a lot of time in chlorine this summer! And yes 100% on the sandals, it's time to let our runner feet breathe!
ReplyDeleteI have never done fruit infused water. I do put lemon in my water first thing in the morning, but that's about it. Have a great weekend ladies!
ReplyDeleteI just got a pedicure last week - bring on the warm weather! I wonder if those wedges work like inserts?
ReplyDeleteI love that idea with the water and frozen fruit! I have a TON of frozen fruit and I've never thought of that. Such an easy idea to drink more water. I love flip flops (hey I live in Florida!) but I gave myself a flip flop induced injury last fall (hiking for hours in flip flops after a 10 mile run) and I've been a bit skittish about wearing them since then!
ReplyDeleteGreat list. Love fruit and water. I've seen people do it, but haven't tried it myself yet. I did treat myself to a pair of Oofos sandals that I'm looking forward to try after my next long run I do.
ReplyDeleteI need to invest in those flip flops! I love my good ole Target ones, but they don't do so much for my feet sadly.
ReplyDeleteooh I haven't seen those flip flops yet but know that I've had plantar Fasciitus I need to be really careful and wear supportive shoes all the time.
ReplyDeleteI was wearing sandals for the past week until Mother Nature decided to give us more snow (bleh). That won't stop me from getting a pedicure though! I'm going to have to look into Hair Warrior. I'll try anything that could help me tame my mane!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for sandal weather here in NH. Will have to check out the Sanuks! And topical heat cream sounds like an awesome thing for all of those running aches and pains!
ReplyDeleteThose sandals look great! Yoga mats are so soft and comfy so I bet those feel incredible. I wish my toes were so beat up from running...I always hide them!
ReplyDeleteI do enjoy fruit infused water as well. I am in need of a pedicure real soon :)
ReplyDeleteLove fruit infused water! Some great products- here we get pedi's year round and I am in need of one! TGIF!
ReplyDeleteOddly enough, I've never thought of using frozen fruit, that I always have around, to infuse my water with. I'll have to give that a try! I love comfy sandals and those sound great! I'm also really curious about the Hair Warrior Fitness Formula Shampoo. I've got to check that out! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteOOH I really need that leave in treatment. I ahve random sections of my hair which are SUPER dry!
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait to break out my flip flops! Once they come out, they don't go away until close to Nov! HA! We still have snow on the ground, so I have to wait a bit longer! I have to check out that Rock Sauce I didn't know they made a product like that, so cool! Hope you guys have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI tried the frozen fruit in my water this morning. What a great idea! I always have frozen fruit in the freezer for smoothies and it definitely perked up my water. Thanks for the tip!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more with the pedi and Sanuks! I have 2, or wait is it 3 pairs.....Humm anyway I need 3 more! I so love these and they are like heaven on your feet! I just got a pedi last week and I'm still enjoying looking down and seeing pretty painted toes! :) Have a great Easter!
ReplyDeleteLove using frozen fruit in place of ice cubes!! I've been living in my compression socks recently.
ReplyDeleteWhen I had serious Achilles issues, adding just the heel portion of an insert (cut from an old shoe) helped me tremendously! I had been put in a shoe that was too flat. I went back to my "regular" running shoes and added the extra lift too. It worked wonders. I didn't know they made the sticky inserts. Can anyone buy those? I hope this helps you!
ReplyDeleteThese products all sound really interesting! I love the sound of sandals made of yoga mats!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
All of these products sound great! I hope those wedges help you! Yum, fruit infused water sounds amazing!!
ReplyDeleteI think I need to try that Rock Sauce!
ReplyDeleteOoooh, sandals made from yoga mats!?!?!? YES PLEASE!!! I need to try that hair conditioner, too. It seems that nothing I can do will keep my hair from getting dried out!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Easter weekend!
Never hear of any of these products but I am excited to wear sandals. I pretty much go from boots to sandals then back to boots. I don't like " regular shoes ". Just waiting for spring to come !
ReplyDeleteOoo that Rock Sauce sounds interesting! I will definitely be checking that out.
ReplyDeleteGlad your knee is getting better! And that hair product sounds interesting. Let me know how it goes! Don't get me wrong, I am ALL for spring, but I am really going to miss my boots and scarves!
ReplyDeleteThe Rock Sauce sounds really interesting! I've used Rock Tape and liked it, but I didn't know they had this product, too! And the frozen fruit in water is a GREAT idea. I keep some frozen to put into smoothies, but this is a really good way to encourage me to drink more water. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'm dying to break out my Birkenstocks and even my Toms. I've already moved from my big boots to lighter boots, but my feet are dying to be free!
ReplyDeleteFlip flop weather is my favorite!
