Live From Disney

Hello folks and Happy Monday! As I mentioned in yesterday's post, I've been spending the past couple of days down here at Disney World. I thought I'd share some of the highlights of our trip so far.
Wednesday: I did mention that I got to visit a very good friend ( which is always one of the highlights of our trips to Disney).

Thursday: I visited the Disney Outlets for the very first time ( more on that later). I also ate at my very first "off Disney property" restaurant called Bahama Breeze Island Grille. It was fabulous!

Friday: We visited the Sports and Fitness Expo. I was surprised that we stayed at the expo as long as we did. Scott is quite the shopper.  Who knew?

They did have a ton of official merchandise when we were there, but I wasn't all that into the Villains stuff, So I passed on all the TOT stuff.  However, we both got Run Disney tech shirts. Scott bought an ankle brace, I got a new Sweatyband and 2 boxes of Honey Stinger waffles. I was SO excited to see they had the Ginger Snap ones there. These will be perfect for this winter when I can eat them while drinking my favorite hot cider!

I also got a peek at the new Disney Medals for next year ( and the Avengers race this year).

If you'd like to see close up pics of any of the medals, you can see them HERE.

Friday afternoon we made our way to Animal Kingdom.

And then another fabulous meal at the Rain Forest Café.

We then went back to our resort and tried to get a good night's sleep before waking up at 5 am or the 5K the next day. It was kind of hard to sleep because I kept wanting to get up and look out the window at the fireworks. We could see them from both sides!

Saturday we ran Mickey's Haunted 5K trail run in the morning and then had a celebratory Character meal breakfast!

During the day we did a lot of resting and had a stroll along the boardwalk.

Saturday night was the big Tower of Terror Race. I will certainly talk more about this later.

I loved the view we had!

After the race, we stayed at Hollywood Studios till 2 am. By the time we got back to the room and I showered, it was 3 am before I got to bed.

Sunday I was hoping to sleep in a lot longer but didn't really. We hung around the resort and of course had to watch a little football  ( Steelers vs Jacksonville).  Who does that? Who watches football at Disney? I guess We do!

We had a nice little spread delivered to our room during the game, so I guess it wasn't all bad!
There was also a little pool lounging going on Sunday afternoon as well.

Sunday evening was also Mickey's Not so Scary Halloween Party.  More on that Later.

Today we are planning on Spending the day at Epcot. Since the Food and Wine festival is going on, I'm really hoping to find one of those coconut silk ribbons I got last year but unfortunately I hadn't seen them on the menu for this year.

Thanks for reading!

Do you watch football ( or your favorite sports team) while on vacation?  ~M

  2. I'd love to do that 10k-I like the idea of the night race so much better. Who wants to get on a shuttle bus at 3 am? How many times a year do you go to Disney?!

  4. I ate at the Bahama Breeze before Princess in 2012 and I really liked it. I got the salad with tropical fruit and grilled chicken, which was perfect. Good luck at W&D today.

  5. We always manage to make our way to ESPN if one of our teams is playing on that particular weekend. I even made it onto the big screen before a Giants game one year! 15 minutes right? And as for the HS waffles - Yum Central!
