What I've learned from the ProForm Boston Marathon Treadmill

I've had something cool that I've wanted to share with you guys for a while now, and now that a new record has been set it seems like the perfect time!

Did you all hear about Tyler Andrew, an elite young American runner who ran a treadmill world record half marathon?  He did it in  1 hour, 7 minutes and 18 seconds,  ON A TREADMILL!!!
That was 11 seconds faster than the previous world record. You can read the complete story from Runner's World and see his video HERE.

He set this record on the ProForm Boston Marathon GSX Treadmill! His speed for the entire half marathon was 12.4 mph. He learned in the last 2 minutes of the race that he was behind pace, so he increased his speed to 15 mph! This is the only home treadmill with the capability of going 15 mph!

I've had the pleasure of using this treadmill at a previous Runner's World event that I was invited to. I can't believe everything this baby can do.  I'm pretty confident that I won't ever be running 15mph on it, but I would definitely be using some of the other fun features it has.

It has some great embedded video training workouts.

This treadmill has a wireless SpeedRing so you can adjust your speed without breaking stride to reach forward on the console.
·

T      This treadmill goes to 20% incline and 6% decline that automatically adjusts with iFit technology onboard.

C        Probably my favorite thing about this treadmill is that you can an watch Google Street View of routes you’ve drawn or maps pre-drawn at iFit.

So of course I had to put in one of my favorite routes. Does anyone recognize that purple sign on the left? Yup, that's on Disney World property. Could you imagine plugging that route in every day and running those streets?  I'm thinking this is how I might be training for my next Disney race!

This  ProForm Boston Marathon GSX Treadmill also features state-of-the-art adjustable cushioning. So, whether you’re training for road-surface outdoor events-or taking care to ease stress on your knees, ankles or back-the GSX is specially designed with advanced push off stability (that other treadmills neglect).

It also includes Adidas® ANT+ wireless heart rate monitoring.

Gym Source is the exclusive retailer for this limited edition product. Make sure to check out their website to find out how YOU can benefit by training on this treadmill. You might find some other features that you are looking for in a treadmill that I didn't mention here.

So whether it's one you own or one that you are using at the gym, what features do you most appreciate on a treadmill?

  1. Wow...I never knew there was a treadmill that could be programmed with a street route. It would be so fun running the roads around WDW! My favorite feature on a treadmill is a TV screen. It can keep me from boredom and get my workout done painlessly. Clearly I am not a fan of running indoors!

    1. I understand! I don't like running indoors either but having all these features could be fun ( for a little while anyway).

  2. Wow that treadmill would be like a dream come true to own! I do very little training on the treadmill, so I really don't need much but the ability to adjust the incline.

  3. Oh my gosh. I had no idea there was a treadmill out there that was this awesome! I love that video capability. I'd be running through Disney every.single.day. I have no room in my apartment for a treadmill, but if I sell my guest room furniture I can make that room a gym...now I'm giving myself ideas haha :0)

Also, the guy who broke the half marathon record on a TM is amazing. I can't imagine running that fast on a TM, or even outside lol!

    1. I don't think I can even ride my bike that fast, can I?

  4. Wow that sounds amazing! I would love to have a treadmill with the feature of showing me an outdoor route while I run! All I really care about in the treadmills I use now is that it has a heart rate monitor and shows my distance, pace, and calories burned.

  5. The running routes would be fun. My problem with the treadmill is I get bored, but if I could plug in a route, that might help.

  6. Wow, that's amazing. I've never heard of a treadmill with a ring to change your speed or the ability to use street view. I love that you can plug in a route and see what it would be like to run it. I wonder if I can convince the gym at work to invest in those :)

  9. How human beings can be that fast (or last that long on a treadmill) is beyond my understanding!! One of the bloggers I read, Janae at hungry runner girl, has this treadmill! One thing I really appreciate on a TM is fans. I NEED AIR CIRCULATION!

    1. I don't think I could ever run 13.1 miles on a treadmill! Janae fro HRG was also at this demonstration!

  10. What an awesome treadmill! I wish I owned one that fancy, not that it would ever hit 15 mph (at least not with me on it:) . I have a treadmill, it's not all that fabulous, but it goes up to 10mph with a 10% incline which I like. I also think it's fun to use the different programs on it to mix it up, as well as create my own speed workout programs on it... Well when I am running:)

  11. That is my DREAM treadmill, I think for me, I would love to find a gym that has a treadmill with a decline. It's so rare in my experience!

  13. As long as there is air conditioning or heat where my treadmill is I'm good. A TV screen is helpful, but climate control is nice. :)

  14. I would LOVE to run on that treadmill! I run on a pretty basic one at my gym, no frills but I like the fan. I'm looking forward to running at our new gym that opens in a few months because they have built in TV's in the treadmills and are supposed to be better for your joints than conventional treadmills.

  15. For me, the decline option would be handy. I don't have a treadmill, but this one would be fun to have if I ever needed one.

  16. I do not like treadmills . . . at all, but I think if I had one where I could run "virtually" through Disney I could make it work. ;)

  19. Holy cow I'm totally jealous that you got to check this out! How cool is it that you can program an actual view of the street AND it has a decline option?!? Awesome!
