Parades, Publisher, and Photoshop

Even before I started blogging, I've been using a program called Microsoft Picture it Publishing for all my photo editing needs and to even add a little element of fun to the pictures such as these parade pictures.

And of course these pictures from our races!  Have you seen our Race Scrapbook?

This program fulfilled my need to be creative and allowed me to keep my pictures printed and neatly tucked into a 4x6 album. I wish I was patient enough to enjoy scrapbooking, but I just can't.
Here is  a sampling of what my finished book looks like.

I recently had to say goodbye to my Picture it Publishing program ( because I switched computers) and that program is I guess extinct now.  I have replaced it with Photoshop Elements 11, but am finding that it has a HUGE learning curve.  I feel that I could do much more and be more creative with the Picture it Publisher than I can with Photoshop, although I know this can't possibly be true. There has got to be a ton of stuff that I just don't know how to do yet, right?

So tell me, what photo editing program do you use?
If you use Photoshop, what is your best tip?

I am linking this post up with Deb from Focused on the Magic. The theme today is Parade. Thanks Deb!

  1. That looks like a really cool program! I'm sorry you can't get it anymore. I do a lot of actual scrapbooking, but it is very time consuming... right now I'm working on the scrapbook from my 1st anniversary trip, which was in September 2012!

  6. I usually use Picasa. It's not too advanced, but it works for what I need. I'd like to start using Photoshop, but I hear it is tough to learn, at least at first!

  7. There is a site called Everyday Elements ... its great for tutorials. & check out YouTube for tutorials. Better to see it step by step. Don't worry - it took me a LONG time to get it... but you'll get it.

  8. I go through blogspot to get my pictures through Picassa and haven't had time to do more than that. There's so much to learn and I haven't had time. It would be fun to know more about it, though!

    1. I see that Picassa show up every once in a while on BlogSpot but I didn't know how to use it. Can you edit your photographs after you upload them to your blog?

  9. Photoshop is what I do all day, so that's the program I use. Sadly, I don't know an equivalent program that allows for those accents. You can do that in Photoshop, but you'd have to make them yourself.

  10. True confessions? I've never used an editor! (Insert embarrassment.) Boy, I love the elements that you used with Picture It. Don't you hate it when technology advances and throws you a curve ball? This post is so helpful- please update us when you find the next great thing!

  13. You've created some very cool pages here. I usually use Picasa or PicMonkey for editing but arrange everything on Shutterfly to create photobooks. I don't have time for scrapbooking too. Like your fun parade pictures!

  14. I love Photoshop but it definitely has a steep learning curve. I also can't afford it right now so I just use PicMonkey and Picasa, which are awesome free photo editing resources.

  15. Photoshop is definitely not an easy program to master. I was fortunate enough to learn it in high school/college so I have enough knowledge to do the basics. One website that my teacher loved was www.good-tutorials.com. It has step by step instructions for many programs. Hope this helps, good luck!
