Three Rides in Magic Kingdom that are only available in the Morning

Not every attraction in Magic Kingdom is created equally! And by this, we mean that not every ride, restaurant, or show have the same operating hours.  You would think that everything inside Magic Kingdom would be open from park open till park close, but unfortunately that is not the case.

There are three ( very special) rides in Magic Kingdom that operate only in the morning hours.  If you miss these rides, than you'll have to wait until the next day!

These rides are called the Main Street Vehicles! They will pick you up on the round about on Main Street USA and take you directly to Cinderella Castle.

The Horse Drawn Street Car is our favorite! There is nothing quite like starting your day at Magic Kingdom by hearing the clip clop of horse hooves down Main Street.

The stop for the Horse Drawn Street Car is marked by a sign located near the round about on Main Street. It is directly across from the Train Station. There is a bench there to sit on as you wait.

There is only one Horse Drawn Street Car that runs during this time.

Sometimes the Double Decker Omni Bus is available, but we don't always see this one running.

This is definitely a fun option. Sitting on the top level is our favorite.

You get to see Main Street from a different vantage point. This allows you to read all the cool things that are painted on the windows above the shops. ( For example, I had no idea they build Gremlins on Main Street...lol)

The pick up location for the Omni Bus is marked by a sign that is located near the sidewalk right outside Tony's Town Square Restaurant.

There are several Jitneys that run up an down Main Street. I believe only two of them run at a time. The jitneys carry a lot less people.

We have rode before when it was just the two of us, and then there were times we had seven or eight people in the jitney and it felt cramped.  If you want to have the experience of riding one of the Main Street Vehicles down Main Street, ride if there is enough room because you don't often know if another jitney will be be coming around. Service for the Main Street Vehicles is only for a limited amount of time in the morning.

I have not yet seen a sign indicating an "official" pick up location for the Jitneys, but they also pick up on Main Street near the round about. We've gotten on in front of the Train Station and also in front of Tony's Town Square. I suppose the driver just finds a spot available between the stops for the horse Drawn Street Car and the Omni Bus.

There is no extra fee or ticket needed to ride these unique transportation options. However, they are only available for a limited amount of time in the morning.  There is no time schedule posted, but I would guess they run for about only an hour or two after park opening.  I did hear that they do not run during "early entry" hours.

If you want to do Magic Kingdom at a more leisurely pace, I highly suggested waiting for one of the Main Street vehicles. You'll have a nice time seeing Main Street from the vehicle and waving to the guests you pass by ( they will even wave back).  You will miss checking out all the cool shops on Main Street but that's okay, they are going to be super crowded that time of the morning anyway. Go back later in the afternoon or evening to browse the shops.

If you are on a mission and want to get right to your favorite ride in Magic Kingdom, Main Street vehicles may not be for you. Even with a large crowd, you can walk to Cinderella Castle (and the hub) quicker than the Main Street Vehicles will get you there.

Since we have been to Magic Kingdom so many times, we are never in a hurry.  We enjoy taking the time to ride one of the unique vehicles down Main Street USA. We find a new detail along Main Street each time.

We even have a favorite Jitney driver!  Hi Trish!

(Note: On the Disney World Website they call the Horse Drawn Street Car a "Horse Drawn Trolley" which is exactly what I would have called it but the sign in Magic Kingdom calls it  a "Horse Drawn Street Car". Also on the Disney World website they list a Fire Truck as one of the Main Street Vehicle options but in ALL our years of going to Magic Kingdom we have never seen a Fire Truck out.

Have you ever taken a Main Street Vehicle?

Till Next time! ~ M
