This EPCOT secret could be helpful!

We recently visited EPCOT for "Extended Evening Hours", which to us was pointless. There were very few attractions still open (even though 10 of the big rides in Epcot were suppose to be open) not much shopping available, and nothing in World Showcase was open. However, the night was not a waste because we learned something new.

As we were exiting the park, we had to stop at Guest Services. This is located to the right of Spaceship Earth as you are exiting. As we came out of Guest Services, we saw Nicole, a cast member, emptying water bottles into a fountain.

Since we were not in a hurry to leave the park, we took a moment to talk to her. She told us that as the park is closing, her job is to walk around and collect all the abandoned water bottles.  She had multiple bins which she had filled with water bottles that park guests had left behind.

She was emptying the water into the drink filling station, and then placing the bottles back into the bin. We asked what would happen to all these bottles. She told us that they would go to Lost and Found for a few days and then the ones that were not claimed would be recycled.  So there you have it! That is what happens to your water bottle if you accidentally leave it behind in the parks.

We could not believe how many water bottles she had collected this night ( there were more bins not pictured). It's a shame, because many of these were nice water bottles. I can see how it would be easy to sit your bottle down for a second and then just walk away and forget it.  That is why I never take my own water bottle to the park. I'll just take a plastic bottle of water and then keep refilling it.

Disney Tip: You can refill your own water bottle ( regardless of what type of bottle it is), at water refill stations throughout the parks, at any quick service soda station ( but use the water of course), or you can ask a cast member at a quick service restaurant for a cup of water and they would be glad to give it to you.

Have you ever left your water bottle behind at the parks?

Till next time! ~ M
