June Runfessions

I can't believe we are nearing the end of June already! I bet a lot of people are going to be saying this exact thing this week.  I've got into a running routine this month so now I actually have some stuff to Runfess!

1. I Runfess that I am really enjoying my runs lately but I also Runfess that since it has been hot, I've reverted back to using the Galloway method during my run. I don't necessarily like to do that but hey, it's getting me through those miles!

2. I Runfess that I've been seeing odd stuff on the trail I run.  Just this week I've seen 2 different socks (on two different parts of the trail), and a waist band to a pair of Hanes. Geeze, can't people keep their clothes on?

3. I Runfess that I've been doing less stroller running with Sybil & Willow because I've been using our park time to teach them to walk on the leash.  My routine is that I get up in the morning and do my own run solo, then I come back home and get Willow, walk with her, and then I bring her back home and then get Sybil and take her to the park to walk.  It is a lot of driving back and forth but I need to train them by themselves or all they want to do is play and grab at each other.  So far it is going well.

4. I also Runfess that Willow is such a good little walker that I've tried running with her.( she is a Golden Retriever) and I think she has the potential to be a good running partner.  However, I know she is not old enough to really be running right now as she is only 6 months, so I will not make this a habit.

5. I Runfess that although I miss the opportunity to run races, I am kind of enjoying the fact that it takes a lot of pressure off and I can just run for fun at my own pace without a plan.  One of our local fall races just got cancelled ( which is no surprise) and I'm sure more will follow.

6. Lastly, I Runfess that one day last week I set up the Bowflex again in the workout room and even hung up the chart of exercises. I thought I would be getting in a routine to use it on a regular basis, but sadly I have not.   I guess I just want to spend all my time outside lately.  I suppose  it would make sense that I come up with a workout routine I do outside!

So that's it for the month of June, nothing too exciting but I am proud that I've been consistent with my running at least.   -M

We are also linking up with Marcia for Runfessions!

  1. Running just for the sport of it (without an actual race on the calendar) is nice. Granted, we all love our races, but most of us were runners before racers, right?

    1. I think running without a real plan can be so relaxing sometimes!

  2. I saw a pair of insoles on the trail a while back! Why? What happened? I always wonder...

I love that the Golden Girls are becoming such good little walkers!

    1. Aww yes! Now the key is to get them to walk TOGETHER because this running back and forth is going to get old come fall!

  3. Ew on the Haynes! How does that even happen? Wait, don’t tell me! I admire your committment to training your dogs. I’m sure that will pay off.

    1. Sort of creepy to see that, right?
I think these puppies have so much potential so I am trying with them!

  4. I can't believe you found a pair of Hanes on the trail - so odd!

I'm also enjoying just running to run at this point. Although I am signed up for a half marathon in October, I doubt that will happen.

    1. And the thing is, it was only the waist band, I don't know where the rest of the Hanes were, unless they were also on the trail somewhere Sort of creepy to think about.

  5. I runfess that I never tried run/walk until recently and it has been a GAME CHANGER for me, especially in the heat. I have one sock and one glove that have been hanging out in my neighborhood for a while but no underwear yet.

  6. The run walk intervals are a godsend in this heat! Nothing at all wrong with them!

  7. The hanes waistband is definitely strange! I have no idea how that could happen. I've unfortunately been seeing lots of discarded masks and gloves :(

  8. I did 30:30 with a friend last weekend and boy, did it make the miles less painful.

I do walk but am not disciplined enough to do regular intervals.

I am enjoying my trail walks...not as much running happening with no races insight.

  9. I see a lot of weird things around here! LOL

I'm glad that the majors are cancelling. It's a bummer but better to know and to make other running and fitness plans. I was great about indoor workouts when the weather was bad but have slacked off. I have to keep up some of the good habits!

  10. I hear you on wanting to spend time outdoors when it's nice! Not so much during the last heatwave, and there's another one on the way (basically, what would be normal for you guys, LOL!). Most days I spend most of the morning outdoors, and often am indoors during the afternoon doing a variety of different things.

Hmm, those trails sound R rated!

I HATED it when we had to walk Lola & Bandit separately. We were able to walk Chester & Lola together from day 1 (they were both about 1 year old at the time, and small dogs tend to mature quicker than large dogs -- plus, small dogs. :)

  11. I just saw a shoe on the shoulder of the road the other day and wondered how the heck that happens??
Good for you for being consistent with running when it's hot.
Your doggies are so smart, I'm sure they'll be walking on leash like champs in no time!

  12. Fall races canceled already - I dont know why people even plan on anything actually working for 2020. Just forget it all!
you're going ot have a little running buddy :) Love you take them for walks. I'm so glad that the Aussies run with each other all day long in the back yard - get all their exercise while I sit & read

  13. OK that Hanes waistband is just bizarre!

Run/walk intervals help so much when it's really hot! I have a feeling I'll be incorporating them into my runs soon too.

Sounds like you're making great progress with your pups!

  14. Ewww...finding clothes on the trail is kind of gross. I have been enjoying my runs more lately too. I usually incorporate at least one walk break into every run. It gives me a little mental break.
