The Past 10 Years!

Oh gosh, I can't believe 2010 was 10 years ago already! I got the idea to do a 10 year look back from my friend Wendy from Taking the Long Way Home but I'm going to focus on 2010 to 2020 ( or at least the start of it)!

What was life like in 2010?

In 2010 I was a High School Nutrition Teacher.

In 2010 I drove a silver Volvo

In 2010  my Baylee was 5 years old and our Dexter was 10.

In 2010 I was using a pink blackberry phone ( I don't even know if it connected to the internet but if it did it was VERY slow). Two years later I lost it on the side of the road in South Carolina. Long story short I was loading up my luggage and sat it on the bumper.

Speaking of pink, in 2010 my living room was a subtle shade of pink (it was actually called Suede by Eddie Bauer and it was painted on a dare. Neither my husband nor I wanted to back down so our walls stayed this color for about 10 years until I finally admitted I didn't like it).

In 2010 I signed up for my first Disney Race! Actually it was my first race ever.

In 2010 I would only wear Saucony's
#TheyWereGreatWalkingShoes

In 2010 I took a mother/daughter Cruise with my mom on the Norwegian Jewel and also a visit to Disney.

Life in 2010 was actually good! I remember it being a good year.

Now  life in 2020...

I am now a middle school teacher.
#LoveThisJob

I  now drive a white Volvo.
#MostComfyCarEver

I no longer have my Baylee nor Dexter, but I have a new Baby Sybil.
#AdjustingToLife

I now have a Samsung Galaxy smart phone.
#BatteryIsStartingToFail

My living room paint is now a shade of grey by Benjamin Moore ( although it looks more like a beige). Funny how I can remember the exact name of the paint from 10 years ago but I can't remember the name of the most recent color that it is now.
#IWantToPaintMyEntireHouseThisColor

Since 2010, I've raced every distance from 5K to Marathon, and even completed my first Triathlon. Not sure what races I will do in 2020.

I now only wear Mizuno's
#StillNoInjuries

In 2020 I will also be visiting Disney!

What are some things that have changed for you in the past decade?  -M

    1. I am just the opposite with what I wear to run now. I used to wear mostly skirts but now I prefer shorts.

  2. I love this! Isn't it amazing how much changes in 10 years? I had a pink phone--we still have it here--but for the life of me, I can't remember the brand.

  3. 10 years ago I didn't have a flip phone (I don't think) but I definitely didn't have a smart phone either.

I love the story about painting your living room pink! We painted our house in TX a bright yellow with orange trim. I loved it. And shortly after that we moved and had to repaint it a boring beige.

In fact we finally redid all the carpets in our VT condo (this is going back 20+ years) because they were the most disgusting dark green color. And shortly after that we moved to TX ... do we see a theme?

I already did my 10 year post. Lots & lots has changed -- and mostly, I think that's a good thing!

    1. I did not realize you lived in VT for a time. There are other rooms in my house that I would like to paint but I don't feel like putting in the effort..lol

    1. I always took too long to decide on a paint color and one day he said "Just pick one and lets go". I picked one that I thought he would have an opinion about, but he didn't!

  6. Who knew Eddie Bauer ever made paint?? Haha! I'm the reverse of Darlene: 10 years ago I ran in skirts but now I've switched to shorts. I think I had an iPhone 4 10 years ago. It's still laying around here and it's SO tiny!

  7. I love this idea! Maybe I'll do this next week! I still live in Chicago, same house and largely the same decor! It was before my blog. I got my first iPhone (a 4) that year. I'll think of more!
