My next adventure

If you saw my IG story the other day, I asked what Marathon you think I would be running next?

If you guessed ......
Alaska, you were right! This was kind of a last minute trip for such a long haul. So why did I pick Alaska and why was this unplanned?

The one great thing about being in the flight Industry is it can be very flexible. The thing not so great about this Industry is you never know your schedule until a month in advance. Once your schedule comes out there is always opportunity to swap or drop trips based on availability.  It surely is no 9-5 type job, which keeps it exciting!

So the other month I met a friend for dinner and we were chatting about upcoming races and he had mentioned that he wanted to do the Anchorage marathon. He is one of those over achievers that is trying to run in all 50 states:) I replied that's cool, but didn't think anything of it.

When I was bidding for my June schedule there were some dates that I requested off hoping that I would get those awarded. I had originally requested one weekend off planning to go somewhere, but when that fell through I had reached out to my friend and asked when  was that marathon  again you were going to run? He replied, that same weekend. I thought well here is my opportunity to run somewhere I have never been.

Another great thing about this Industry is I can travel and I can travel last minute, which is pretty much the norm when you fly standby. My friend is definitely familiar with how this goes as he is a Flight Attendant as well.

So here we go two Flight Attendants on our journey to run the Anchorage Marathon on June 23rd. Wish us luck that we get there and back safely and not have any problems with our flights. But as you know flying standby is always an adventure in itself. Stay tuned! -L
