A Day in New Orleans

New Orleans has always been one of my favorite cities to visit. The city has so much to offer. Whether it's gambling you like, great restaurants, or nightlife, NOLA has it all.

I recently took my friend there for the first time to visit. It was kind of
her pre-Bachelorette party. Now we were only there for a day so we had to to make the most of it.

We got there very early so the first stop we made was Cafe Du Monde. For those of you that do not know what that is, it is a must do while visiting New Orleans. It is known for their beignets. They are similar to small funnel cakes with powder sugar. Pairing those with a cup of their coffee hits the spot.....delicious!

After breakfast we explored the city by foot. It would have been fun to take a horse drawn carriage ride(maybe next time). There was a market we shopped at that had hand made crafts and sold homemade treats as well. We made our way towards the river front on a walking path and found ourselves at Harrah's Casino. My friend was excited about that, unfortunately she did not win, so on we went. There were many other unique shops along the way. We stopped to have an afternoon cocktail and watch some bands performing on the streets.

Later we went back to the room and got ready for dinner. There were so many great restaurants to chose from but we decided on Oceana Grill. I got rice and black beans and got warm bread pudding for my dessert....delicious!

Soon it was time for the night life to begin. Now they say Vegas is the city that never sleeps, but I beg to differ, because New Orleans is happening all day long with bands and entertainment and even more so at night time. There were so many different bars, from dancing, to karaoke, to dueling piano bars. We definitely made the most of it for only being there one night.

I have always wanted to visit the city over New Orleans Rock n Roll weekend. That way I wouldn't feel guilty eating all the delicious food the city has to offer. One of these years I will make it for that weekend!

Have you ever visited NOLA?
Have you ran the Rock and Roll Race there?
